    Just stumbled upon this series. Thank you so much for creating these. I am just starting on my own fine arts journey and this mentorship series is so inspiring.

    Wow, what an act of generosity to mentor someone this way. Thank you both for sharing the process online so others can benefit, too. Reminds me very much of my painting classes in college. A good teacher is a blessing!

    Working faster. That's what I need, but I also don't want to come up short and have it be messy (since I do photorealism.)

    It would be really funny to have Brooke mentor YOU in desserts and have you bobbing your head for 45 min. (Hope you have a sense of humor Brooke..) Kudos to Brooke.. you go girl!

      Chams it is important to compare yourself of today with yourself from last month or last year when you are progressing as an artist.

    Was the assignment to create +1 painting every day for a week? 🤔 With the last day painting as long as you want?

      @@timpackerfinearts Oh my! Hello! I meant +1. So day one is one, day two is 2, day three is 3 paintings. Up until 6? And then the last day is one but take as long as you want.

    • @SaoirseS.
      @SaoirseS. 26 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I'm a silly.
      1) 2 pieces on anything you want to notice what you're getting hung up on (for Brook this was details with tiny brushes & taking a very long time)
      2) 3 paintings in one day (maximum 5 hours per artwork, value studies recommended)
      3) 3 paintings in one day (in colour)
      4) 6 paintings in one day
      5) 1 piece, take as long as you'd like using what you've learned earlier this week

    Question: I would LOVE for you to explain the different painting mediums for water-soluble oils. What makes each different and why would I use one over another.
    1) Artisan Water Mixable Linseed oil
    2) Artisan Water Mixable Stand oil
    3) Artisan Water Mixable Safflower Oil
    4) Artisan Water Mixable Painting Medium (I use this one)
    5) Artisan Water Mixable Fast Drying Medium
    6) Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour Thinner
    ►► Although the website explains each of these, I thought YOU would give more insight into each product :) www.winsornewton.com/na/discover/tips-and-techniques/oil-colour/mediums-with-artisan-water-mixable-oil-colour-us
    Also, a video on WHEN & HOW to apply Artisan Water Mixable Varnishes
    Thank you !! And your videos are amazing!

    • @timpackerfinearts
      @timpackerfinearts  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The basic difference in the various mediums is their drying time and how sticky or slippery they are. The artisan water mixable linseed oil is very slippery, like baby oil and allows the paint to slide on easily. Stand oil on the other hand is very thick and sticky like molasses and it takes longer to dry. The best thing to do is to experiment with the various mediums to learn their behaviours... then use them according to the effect you are trying to achieve. I have used both the linseed oil and painting medium to coat the canvas and haven't noticed any discernible difference. They both work fine to "wet" the canvas

    • @bozomahoney
      @bozomahoney 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fantastic ! And that's another thing I have NOT seen in any other videos on TH-cam - You suggest coating the canvas with the painting medium. This is fabulous and I will be doing that on my next painting!
      thank you.
