αληθής
I vaguely remember using your recipe a year or two ago and wanted to taste the frappé your way once again, however it was super hard to find this video among the thousands of other "genuine greek style" frappé. They were all about the style of presentation, whipped cream, chocolate, and other weird ingredients fit for tourists. But I've finally found you again and this frappé is exactly what I've been looking for, this is the actual taste of frappé I had in Greece prepared by a Greek. Thank you so much!
😮 I better save this recipe in my notes, thank you
Thanks for the tip about the video being hard to find. It was actually second from the top of the list that popped up when I searched the words Greek frappe maker but I'm going to save it to make it faster to find it again.
Husband John=Italian. Me, Colleen=Irish. Not one drop of Greek blood. But I love all things Greek! Your video for Frappe was excellent, the best online..I wrote this poem 24 years ago. This is the first time I'm sharing it: "I feel the wind billow the sails of my ship/As through the Greek Islands I hastily trip/The water furrowed path I gaze at behind me/As sunlight glistens on the Aegean Sea/Crying seagulls flying and diving low/Bicker whose fish it is swimming below/Twilight dims my sight as the ship heads home/And churns up the water to crystal and foam. By Mrs. Colleen Cupido
Wow!!! Thanks so much Colleen for sharing!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I just now made your Frappe gliko. It's the best coffee I ever made I didn't have to pay for! I have no idea if you care for stories from the Classical Greeks. John has Dyslexia, so I've read him hundreds of books. I finally read him Homer's Odyssey, Fagles translation- he especially liked the character of Odysseus. Then I read him the Iliad. These are 3,000 year old poems. My John, who has no problem with The Terminator, Braveheart, etc., was appalled at the violence. "Colleen, if I can get through this, I can get through ANYTHING." By the time we finished the end, with the encounter of Achilles and King Priam ( my favorite part of all of Homer) I won him over. He loved BOTH the poems!
Excellent!!! 🙏🏼👍❤️🇬🇷
awesome video, Ken. for anyone reading this, here's a tip... if you're going to make a metrio, or gliko frappe, add the sugar first, to ensure none of the instant coffee sticks to the bottom of the shaker. if you're making a sketo, be sure to add the water first, then the instant coffee, to ensure none of the instant coffee sticks to the bottom of the shaker.
Good tip Nina!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I've been to Greece (or Greek Islands actually, Rhodos 2 times & Ios 1 time) , and this drink is so good. This, Gyros Pita & Souvlaki are my favorites from Greece. Ευχαριστώ!!
I was searching for greek frappe and when I saw your video I clicked right away! I used your avgolemono recipe last year and it has become a family favorite. Thanks so much!
i just tried this and it was amazing man! no need to get any $3 coffees from the store anymore. thank you! 🇬🇷
Haha awesome!!! Thanks very much Aadel... 🙏🏼🙏🏼😂
Yes you can do it in your home, and you can drink anytime you want without paying in Coffee shop 😂
IKR!!! It's such an easy recipe! Seriously the best way to make use of instant coffee!!!
A Greek friend at college made me this but she added ice cream, yummm! Maybe not authentic but her name was Soula and she was Greek! ;)
With a name like Soula, she’s definitely Greek.... 😂😂😂
Yes Frappe float! Def not traditional
I miss Greece 🇬🇷 last time I visited was in 1996 when I was 18. Next year 2021 I plan on going with my son n his mom.
that should replace the Root Beer at A&W lol
👍👍👍
In Northern Greece and Cyprus most Greeks add milk instead of water in the frothed mix you should try it with a shot of any amaretto.
Sounds interesting.... thanks!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Cyprus is not Greece fortunately.
We do this in Bulgaria too!
Do you add instant coffee in the milk or normal ground coffee
The milk (optional) is added to the whipped coffee...
He had me at Acme 2000. 😂😂😂 this guy knows what hes talking about!
I worked in a bar Nidri, Lafkada when I was younger and was taught to make Frappe skito Frappe Gliko, Frappe Gliko me gala, (forgive spelling) I always remembered the condensed milk used instead of standard milk. I just made Frappe Gliko me gala after watching this and WOW, took me back to a very special time in my life! The senses are amazing for nostalgia, in heaven, Yamas! 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷
Thanks very much Victoria!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Ironically I just bought some condensed milk today. Vietnamese coffee uses the same and it's so delicious.
My dad and I have been looking everywhere for a proper Greek method - ευχαριστώ πολύ! Just need the Greek Nescafé classic now 👏
Actually, the regular Nescafé instant coffee is what they use in Greece....
Got mine from Amazon
@@KensGreekTableThat's good to know because I had also heard that it had to be the Nescafe classic and not all stores carry that particular one. I'm wondering if you could use decaf as a replacement if you were having it in the evening and didn't want the extra caffeine.
@@mothershelper1981yes you can use decaf and all the kinds of Nescafé basically. I’m Greek by the way.
I have been to Athens for work a few times and feel in love with Greek Frappe. Thank you for sharing because I was really craving one. Came across your video and tried all three at home. It was just like buying one at a local coffee shop in Athens.
I love this video. He is very good at explaining things. I now understand what I have been doing wrong. LOL ...Thank you!
I'm SOOOO happy I found this video. Have been craving a real Frappe so, thank you!
You’re very welcome Alena.... 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hey, thanks à lot from France, my mother was half greek and we used to drink this a lot back in time 😊👌💕
I lived in Rhodes for a few years and love greek frappe. They are also great with a Baileys or Tia Maria added! 😉
Thanks for making this. All the other videos have some electronic device and don't show you can just shake it. Thanks again!
Cheers!!!
I put 4 teaspoons of sugar in tea and coffee ~ hot or cold, lol.
I'm a terrible diabetic hahaha.
We are so careful about other things, but the tea and coffee must be sweet.
This is next!
Jenn ☺
Haha whatever works for you Jenn!!! 👍💪✌️
When we visit Greece. We usely order the frappé sketto. But with a scoop of vanilla Ice cream. Love your Channel. Greetings from the Netherlands
Thank you and much love to the beautiful Netherlands!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Love it! Couple of questions:
• Can the ice be “crushed”? Or does it have to be cubes or “quarter-moons”, the way you have
• When you say “filtered water”, do you mean water from a Britta-type pitcher? Or do you mean “distilled water”?
• Will spring water work? Like, for example, Poland Spring?
• Βρε φίλε, what in the world is “Ken” in Greek??
THANK YOU FOR SUCH A GREAT EXPLANATION!
You are awesome. You explain so good. Very Greek guy. I’m a very Greek girl. Thanks keep it up.
Thank you Connie!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I remember when i was a kid, i thought my dads frappé was a delicious chocolate milkshake 😂
This is so easy! Thank you for sharing!! I only had Starbucks instant and I loved it, I’m looking for Nescafé now! I’m Greek American and I’ve been trying to learn all I can about Greek culture! It’s hard with no Greek friends lol!
Greeks laugh at Starbucks' face! I'm sure that now you know !
Mille merci pour la recette 👍👍👍 Fantasticooo ✌️🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷, from 🇩🇰🇩🇰🇩🇰
Merci Gianni.... 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for the lesson
I love how you show all 3 different types 😊 love your videos!
Amazing just got back from Rhodes and craving my medium Frappe now the summer heat has arrived in the UK, perfect thanks Ken
You’re very welcome Damian…. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Hallo Ken, thanks for the interesting video. Now I know how to make it, without a shaker or a frother. I know Frappé from Crete. There are many places to enjoy Café Frappé. Hope one time I'll see it again. It's a beautyful island. Love also Your other greek recepies!!!😍 You are very sympathetic man 🙆. ..greetings from Germany..Caroline
Thank you so much for you comment and kind words Caroline!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Much love to beautiful Germany!!!! 👍🙏🏼✌️♥️💪🙌
You're a legend, glad to see you and I will make this for sure. I had no idea how to make it but I will attempt it. You are amazing. Thumbs up!!!!
Thanks very much Theo!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Dear sir, thank you for this wonderful recipe.. I have made this yesterday and it tastes so so good! Thank you so much hope u have a nice day
Thanks for showing me how to make it by shaking the mixture. I didn't realize it was Greek, but I have been buying the quickie version of Nescafe ice java syrup and mix with milk and shake. Once that is used up I'll try your way. I figured there was a simple way to make it myself but never experimented.
If you are shaking up a batch, I'd love a #2 with one sugar and milk please.

Very educational, easy to understand and well filmed video, I learnt so much! thankyou!!!
Thank you!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
That shaker is so iconic hahaha, also the pink straw, never forget that mate
😂😂😂👍👍👍
My best friend was from Greece and he used to make these for me. They were so good. I want to make one! Of course I don’t have the Nescafé frappe from Greece. I only have the American version hope it tastes as good.
i tested it with greek nescafe and with regular instant coffee. Both work equally well.
👍👍👍
Haha... it's summer again here in Australia, so time for frappe again... yes I am forgetful... am so grateful for you 🇦🇺🥰🙏🥳 have a Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 and hope we all have a safe 2022!
Thank you so much Irene!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Same to you and yours…. 👍❤️💪🎄❄️🎅
I watch this video every summer, if I could like it more than once I would!
it's so simple and delicious, thank you for sharing it to the world !!!
I remember in 1996 my last time being in Greece 🇬🇷 my cousin would make me frappe every single day. So delicious.
👍👍👍
Best demonstration I’ve seen. Ευχαριστο👍😉
Thanks so much Penny!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Bravo, Ken!
this will now be my go-to for cold coffee
👍👍👍
bravo re ken, you have become my go to greek chef when I need some help with any of our awesome food.god bless!!
I love it no milk or sugar I make it at breakfast then midday plain with filtered water so good
Wow amazing ..ken u just got me back in time to my kalamata days and yes the Skitto is my favorite
Awesome Joe!!! Make it happen... 😂👍🙏🏼💪♥️✌️🙌
Nicely done as always, Ken! Did I hear you right - I think you said condensed when you meant evaporated milk? I love how clear you instructions are.
Thanks Katherine but you heard correctly. The Noynoy milk they use in Greece is condensed....
Works like a charm! Loved the recipe! Thanks!
I also tried a variation with a dollop of vanilla ice cream and it also tasted great.
Fantastic!!!!! 👍👍👍
I like it, too. They used to have frappe me pagoto (ice cream) in Greece everywhere in the past. I hadn't been there for a long time and was surprised this summer that it wasn't on the menus and most of the time they didn't even have ice cream to add, if I asked for it. Finally was told it was not "trendy" anymore... Well, as far as I'm concerned, their "trendy" freddo cappuccino sucks!
Thanks Ken , can't believe I didn't realize I should've been using uncooked Nescafé! Does taste much better 😊👍 thanks from this ABG Australian Born Greek 🤪
Thanks very much Irene.... 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
My favorite way to drink coffee, thanks Ken!!!!
Love the plain Greek frappe, couldn't drink enough of them while over there on holiday in 2018. Drives me nuts that when you ask for a frappe no milk in Melbourne (of all places) you usually get a confused look. Thanks for the video!
Haha the struggle is real Brendan….
Thank you for the video, this is how I remember the frappe in Greece, i was hooked :)
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I love Coffee. I used to manage a Coffee store. This looks wonderful! Thanks! I can't wait to try it!!
Another job I've had is a sound engineer. I've not seen your other videos (but I look forward to watching them. I LOVE Greek food!) Perhaps this episode is an outlier; but the sound is terrible! I can barely hear you. Perhaps you should look into getting a microphone. You can get a wireless that clips on your belt and shirt then sends the amplified sound to your camera. It would _really_ help!
Other than that, I love what I've seen!
Thanks very much Jay!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Working on the sound part.... lol
Seriously ? This easy !?! Wow !! I will make mine sweet, thanks for the ideas 👍
Ohhhhhh yesssss Miriam, it’s this easy!!!! 😂👍🙏🏼✌️♥️💪🙌
Wow! I recently heard about the dalgona coffee that is trending right now and found your video. I will definitely be trying these, they look so much better!
Thanks so much Roxie!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼😂
This was the first video of yours I watched! Greek Frappe is so delicious.
Thanks Tanya…. 🙏🙏🙏
just made the best frappe of my life. thank you thank you
Thank you for the information that it doesn't work with artificial sweeteners although I wonder if that includes monk fruit, date sugar, coconut sugar etc, The healthy sugar alternate tooth. Or honey? I do try to avoid refined sugar but if that's the only thing that works in this I will use it.
If you want you can top up some baileys or ice cream or whatever you like
Thanks for this! Now it all falls into place.
Efcharisto, just back from 🇬🇷, we missed souvlaki and re Frappe, didn't realised that I've been doing this 30-35 years ago, I just don't what it was called then lolll, have a nice day😊😂👍
😂👍🙏🏼💪❤️✌️🙌
Here I am, in the middle of the night, drinking a frappé likó megálo made according to your instructions. (I even bought a jar of Nescafe Classico for the occasion.)
This is REALLY addictive stuff! I think I'll go make another one because my glass is empty....
Try the greek instant one instead of classico
Merry Christmas from Australia!! Καλά Χριστούγεννα ! 🙏🙏
Perfect Ken, just the tutorial I needed!...🙌
Im gonna try this today, it looks great
This looks much better and easier to make than dalgona coffee. Can't wait to try this way!
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
New subbie here from New Zealand. Love this simple recipe. Thankyou Ken
Thank you and welcome!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Definitely the best video I've seen on this!
this turned out unbelievably good!
Would I steer you wrong??? 😂😂😂
@@KensGreekTable Apparently not! As a coffee lover, I was craving this drink after watching u make it, but the results were actually "better" than I anticipated. I followed your specific guidelines down to using a straw. I was surprised by the caffeine surge of energy...I drink expresso drinks from Starbucks all the time, but this little drink had some kick! Taste of this drink was amazing..my new drink...gonna save me $5 per day
Finally someone knows how to make real Frappe, so many uploads on YT can't get it right.
I tried this and it’s so good 😍 No more Starbucks for me!
Awesome!!! 👍👍👍
Is there a difference between Nescafe instant and Greek Nescafe instant coffee? P.s. your greek recipies are amazingly soooo good. Hello from Montreal Canada.
Nope, exactly the same!!! Thanks very much Angie and much love to beautiful Montreal…. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I've heard there a difference in taste, just to be safe get the greek one.
@@weedpuff Best one is Nektar frappe but it is more expensive though and it is hard to find it sometimes in stock
@@KensGreekTableI usually buy the greek nescafe for $15bucks. But you say it doesn't make a difference w taste. Ok. ❤
Thank you for such an informative vid! Off to the kitchen to make my glykos :)
Ken, is the condensed milk you mentioned the same as sweetened condensed milk, or like evaporated milk? Thanks!
Great video! I just have to ask, as someone who just invested in a hand milk frother to use for frappe, do you think shaking or stirring is better? More focused on taste/consistency than tradition in this case. Thanks for this :)
Thanks very much Jack!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 For a frothier frappe, a frother is the way to go. Flavour wise, it’s going to be the same.
Ken Panagopoulos
Thank you for the quick reply! Sounds good :p
I make mine before work so I'm always short of time. 1 tbsp of coffee, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 8 oz of milk and three ice cubes into a metal thermos.
May I ask if this will work with freshly ground coffee? Or have it brewed first then shake? We have about 5 kilos of ground coffee from a coffee farm and we don't want to throw it away. I feel excited about trying frappe one of these days while listening to a Greek chill out music under the noon day sun in a remote island in the Philippines whadya think?😎🏖🌏
Frappe will only work with instant coffee….
I am in the Philippines now drinking frappee using brewed coffee because I was out of Nescafe or instant coffee. He is right instant coffee works best. But I used the cold brewed coffee and 2 sugars and I used a blender for the mixing action, adding the ice and milk last. Whilst it was not perfect, it frothed up okay. I will make a video soon for Filipinos. I dont know what it is but the instant coffee beaten, whipped, makes a beautiful smooth foam.
if you want to make one with ground coffee then look up greek freddo which is similar to frappe but it is made with espresso instead
Hi! If I were to make it with a condensed milk, how much tablespoons should I add and at which stage?
You add it right at the end and you can add as much or as little as you like….
@@KensGreekTable hi ken, can i use nescafe gold? Instead with the classic?
Thank you, I've been making it your way for these 2 past years, it always comes out delicious
I miss these…can you use Nescafé original? Or do you have to use Nescafé Frappe?
Trying it tomorrow!
👍👍👍
Great video! 100% accurate...sketo me gala for me!
Thanks Χρήστο!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank you ❤️🇬🇷 great video
I make mine with all milk !
As Nacho libre says " its da best !! "
ooooooohhhhh, I am a Turk who will put down Turkish tea for one day to try Greek Frappe.
This truly is an amazing coffee! But I think we should stop plastic straws :(
How do I order a frappe with milk and sugar in greek? is the regular metrio frape me gala and sweet liko frape me gala? Thank you for the advice :)
Well grasshopper, it’s “frappe glyko me gala”
@@KensGreekTable thank you! I'm going to Greece in 2 weeks and wanted to try this for the first time there :)
Mmmm. Looks delicious. Just in time for summer (soon I hope lol)
👍👍👍
Euxaristo! Loved the vid
Thanks very much!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Can you use decaf Nescafé instant coffee? My heart doesn’t like caffeine anymore 🤦🏻
Thank you
Thanks!
On behalf of Ken thank you very much. He would have been so happy you liked the video
So, you reckon it wont work with Erythritol (sweetener for diabetics) ?
It will BUT it won’t taste the same. I’ve tried it with Splenda....
I approve!
you can make that in Canada and it will never taste the same ..... You definitely need to use milk or it will be too bitter and the trick is the milk type and the weather/environment where you drink it .. lol btw, I do not like grabbing the ice with bare hands.
Haha I handled the ice by hand because I was the only one putting it in my glass...
Amazing
Thank you!
That's what I used to do if I want to drink ice coffee, Greek way 😂
👍👍👍
