I was 1681 IR and Finally got into the top split last night at Charlotte. Man the top 2 guys were hauling ass. I qualified 4th and finished 4th though. They were 3.7k, 5.8k, and 2.7k. I noticed their downshift revs are very high compared to mine. Does that mean I'm downshifting too slow? I'm assuming they're braking later and shifting quicker to get engine braking involved. Thanks for the track guide, my line is the same, just gotta practice more. Yesterday was the first time I've raced this track. It's pretty fun! I qualified 1:33.5xx so definitely a ton of time to find. I think following those guys helped a bit, too. We'll see what I run today.
Sounds like they're engine braking, not something I do often, but I do see people doing it. I have done a few races today around Charlotte, and someone managed to get a 1:31:600 which is just mind blowing to me. So there is definitely time to be made! It was a 3000ir softsplit, at 4pm BST today, if you'd like to view the results.. But in the race before that, I qualified 2nd with a 1:32.7, so just depends on the guys you're racing. Good luck today!
yeah... I'll have to play around with it. The top 2 guys engines were screaming like they were about to blow and the 3rd was occasionally doing it. Then I swich to my POV and it sounded very calm, my downshifts lol. I've subscribed, I'll be looking forward to more of your guides as my iRacing account is almost 8 years old but I just started consistently racing a couple months ago. Also in VR. It's great.
@@jackveazeyracing9221 it's funny you mention that 1:31.6xx qualifier in your session. I just checked that session and it's the same guy that got pole in my session lmao. Looks like he found another 6 tenths somehow. wow
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Waiting for the next tracks.
