Always appreciate some love for a fellow swede. Tobias pretty much is Ghost, the rest of the ghouls are hired musicians that only gets paid to play live. Tobias does the rest.
It hasn’t been that way for some time now tbh. Tobias has studio musicians as well. On this whole album he recruited the guitar player of the band Opeth
@@ArtVandelay77 No it’s common knowledge now that Tobias doesn’t do it all in the studio anymore. He does play bass on the new Ghost but he also hires musicians to fill in other roles in the studio. On their new album Impera Fredrik Åkesson does all the guitar you hear on the album. He also plays with the band Opeth
Square hammer is a good one or dance macabre, rats, he is, spillways, from pinnacle to the pit, that's all I can think of off the top of my head all excellent songs. Take your pick.
Ghost- GRIFTWOOD!!!! PLEASE!!! Such an underrated BANGER by my all time favorite band. And congrats on the growth of your channel guys 🤘🏻proud to be one of the first 500 subscribers!!
Cirice mate, would be great. Ghost is a great band, Tobias is the main man, the other member are nameless in purpose. I think in a concert Dave Grohl joined them as the drummer with the mask and everything. Also Hetfield is a great fan, there's a video of him trying to get the Cirice riff right in his ESP. Cool video. Keep it up.
Ghost has a lot of different sounds, depending on what album you go with. They are AMAZING live!! I would suggest Year Zero (from an older album) or Respite on the Spitalfields (from Impera you just did) They really do grab hold of you, once you take a listen
It is so hard for me to choose a song to recommend from Ghost..so many amazing tracks and such great variety in sound.. I'd say do "Zenith" next and we can go on from there 😅
As a believer in god and good vs evil, I have to listen to Ghost with the mindset of “it’s just their gimmick”. Because the songwriting is so damn good.
This song is a reference to English occultist, philosopher, ceremonial magician, poet, painter, novelist and mountaineer Aleister Crowley. The same person from Ozzy's great song Mr. Crowley. The song title is taken from Crowley's quote 'The Beast 666' only means 'sunlight.' You can call me 'Little Sunshine.'
I'm impressed as usual by Judsons keen ear and fast mind, Tobias said in an interview that four-chord songs work, so he will stick to writing that. Uncertain if Tobias by that meant the simplicity, or any specific four chords, but my guess is the style rather than the chords themselves.
Two day creeper, first time commenter, you guys kill it. This is my establishment comment into the world of Great Measures. You need to jump back into Clutch, Ghost, Cypress Grove, Son of Virginia or La Curandera.
It's tongue in cheek. It's theatrical. Nameless ghouls come from many places. I saw them live in Chicago. Do a little research. It's all for entertainment and look into the lore and backstory
As Tobias has said himself in some old interview, the "devil" the band is representing in the lyrics is sort of a popcultural one, not necessarily the one found in "holy scripture". To an extent, but the alleged satanism is an act and fictional to a large (and fairly obvious if you've followed the band a while) degree. The devil in his music often symbolises rebellion, or contra-normative values and are more often sort of used like a diabolus moralisarus than anything else. His lyrics might seem simple, but there's always layers to it and underlying meanings and messaging. Like Mary on A Cross is not only a pro-cannabis song, it's also to some degree about female liberation. So yeah. You kinda need to take that into account. It's an act, and don't read it at face value. I remember when the band was fairly new, I think it was around the Meliora period, when they got their grammy here in Sweden, and the swedish arch bishop was asked about them by mainstream media because of their popularity, and he just laughed and found their "satanism" just amusing and non-serious. Like an amusing cartoonish version of satanism I think he phrased it, a satire just playing on tropes.
He mocks Christianity! Watch Jesus he knows me. But be careful. If you want to hear a great member of the band, check out Mad Gallica. She is one of the keyboardist in Ghost. She is phenomenal! You won't be disappointed!! She has the voice that is out of this world. Her keyboard skills are amazing. Souls on Fire is an amazing song she wrote. Thanks for doing a Ghost reaction. ❤
Great tune very catchy ... Check out their earlier albums think you guys would enjoy the first album very seventy rock vibes with modern sound too... Opus Eponymous great album.
Really proud of you both!! Great fun watching you go back and forth. Ghost is a very good band. Listen to Faith at some point. Are you all from Alabama?
Ghost is primarily Tobias. The ghouls are just for the stage. There's another group of people that are the recording artists. The ghouls are a variety of artist from across the spectrum of music. Sodo, the lead guitarist of the ghouls, he is actually a guitarist in Katatonia. Tobias has and interesting music history that blends in with this life growing up.
Well aware. However, in 𝘍𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘵, Faust makes a “deal with the devil” which is how the eventual etymology and tradition ends up generalizing Mephisto as THE devil rather than A devil/demon. I am a big fan Goethe and a wide range literature and folklore but I was being more general in my comment..
I've heard a bit of Ghost now and my conclusion is that it's for people that aren't me. I just can't see myself doing boring housework to it, and that ultimately is the best way to judge whether music has connected with you.
All fair points and my initial comment was flippant and not intended as a serious starting point for debate. However, it is an interesting point about when and where music enters our lives, and tailoring different types of music to our activity. The stuff I listen to is so instinctive, as it is for everyone else, that it feels weird that other people don't have the same likes. We're all the hero of our own movie, and each has its own soundtrack.
@Darker_Waters you didn't come off as argumentative at all, and my reasoning is often weird so don't you worry about that. In my youth I was quite militant about what I considered to be good music but as the years have passed, I've come to like some of the stuff I hated. Ghost definitely aren't my thing, although I can't really pin down why. Give me another decade and I may well be obsessed with them, but until then, what I will say is that I'd still much rather listen to them than Swifty.
They're not promoting Satan, they're going through 1:st ammansment through new bible. They're description is of all that happens into that. No dark lord shit.
“He is the pope!”
“He is.”
On that note, I can recommend their song called He is 😁
devastating satire on church songs
Unlike the pope, Tobias, as far as i know, dosen´t touch little boys.. 😅
Tobias writes all the lyrics and music for the band. All the musicians are hired guns
Always appreciate some love for a fellow swede. Tobias pretty much is Ghost, the rest of the ghouls are hired musicians that only gets paid to play live. Tobias does the rest.
Great username.
Tobias is a great name. Mvh, Tobias
It hasn’t been that way for some time now tbh. Tobias has studio musicians as well. On this whole album he recruited the guitar player of the band Opeth
@@Childofbhaal you mean it has been that way right?

You should do "He Is". Would be nice to hear that on piano. 👍🏼😀

All of them are amazing 🙏

Definitely the next Ghost song you need to check "Zenith".
Little masterpiece!
True!
I mean there are too many Ghost songs I could request but for this channel I would love to see a reaction to "He Is"
Keep up the good work 🤘🏼
Judson's Church Lady impression had me laughing out loud 🤣 So cute!

Would recommend also checking out Ghost's instrumentals - Miasma and Helvetesfonster, as well as the choral section at the end of Deus in Absentia

Respite on the Spitalfields is one of my favourites.
@@farkas9476 if we are talking Impera - absolutely my favorite!!!
@@sreneethomas Impera is an excellent album. One of my favorites is Twenties... though I also have much appreciation for Watcher in the Sky.
@uoabigaillevey absolutely love Twenties!! It gets such a bad rap but it's a great song!
I brought two friends to a Ritual with me and they had no idea who they were. Two converts after the show
It is so hard for me to choose a song to recommend from Ghost..so many amazing tracks and such great variety in sound..
I'd say do "Zenith" next and we can go on from there 😅
Oh yes, Zenith, what a song.
As a believer in god and good vs evil, I have to listen to Ghost with the mindset of “it’s just their gimmick”. Because the songwriting is so damn good.
Same
Same boat
Yo the way his head snapped to look at something when he heard Mefestofoles sent chills
Judson is amazing! he's quite a character.
Call me little sunshine is something said in court by Aleister Crowley when the judge asked him what do I call you.
Ritual is my favourite song
Children of bodom - hate me. Its from finland and the main guy Aleksi Laiho died 3 years ago so it wold be cool to hear them music
"How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!"
Tobias Forge writes basically all the material, from the lyrics to the instruments. There is a separate studio band and touring band.
A song from my favourite Ghost album - what a treat!
You need to do “He Is”!
As a song recommendation, I think a good song would be ‘darkness at the heart of my love’
Ghost is a great band another great review
Good one as always
Year zero gotta be the next

As you're friend plays piano i would highly recommend Zenith for him to listen to 😃

Darkness at the Heart of my love

The black metal scene there is real but their real Satanist bands burn churches, not just play on confetti and fake money
Sounds like cope
Am i the only one asking for Archspire again and again? 😊 Please do Golden Mouth of Ruin! Please! I need some cheer up going through rough times.
America!!! Now you're talking.

Next step could be "Spillways" or "He is" 🔥
Mephistopheles is the demon from the story of Faust!
"The beast 666 means light... you can call me little sunshine" Aliester Crowley
Oh man. I really need you to react to Spillways. Good reaction by the way. (Already a little late, 3 months later)
Aleister Crowley told a judge in court to call him little sunshine
Mephistopheles is not the devil but he is a demon in German folklore
Check out some of the older Ghost stuff. Ritual off their first album is outstanding.
Spillways or Kaisarion
I recommend Faith - from A Pale Tour Named Death
🔥🤘😜🔥
Id love you guys to check out "legion" by tesseract! It is such an amazing song !!!
Good stuff - also try Dirty Loops sometime for great musicians and a fellow pianist he can check out!

Oh how I wish you'd react to year zero, preferably live!
The devil is gods police, judge, and jury.
Dont see the Miasma in any comment, Id like to hear what Judson would say about their great instrumental, especially the closing part
can you guys listen to Al Di Meola - Chasin Voodoo if yall havent heavnt heard of it. or some funky stuff would love to hear yalls thoughts
Should do a live recording of Miasma
That's the catch: poppy promotion of Satan 👿👿👿
React to Salve-Gaerea and Drone Corpse Aviator-Archspire
You should react to some sludge metal like Crowbar, Eyehategod or Acid Bath
Secular Haze is a great Ghost song
Funny how he said they promoting Satan........like no one does that right....... right..........oh wait ........
I wonder how You’d react to Ofdrykkja-Hårgalåten 🙂
Do some berried alive next
Not really promoting Satan as much as making fun of religion. This song is about addiction.
They're not promoting Satan, they're going through 1:st ammansment through new bible. They're description is of all that happens into that. No dark lord shit.
do some cryptopsy
You do know it's satire....right?
Faith is a great song……..It’s a little more metal.
Ghost ,metal? Please bro.stop that .stop calling this band metal.if they are metal back boy streets metal too
To be fair, they review more than metal on this channel. I don't think they mentioned metal in this video, unless i missed it.
