"You will never, ever walk alone" is actually ominous and foreboding
This tune is about Mephistopheles, and I think in this case that being Lucifer. The album cover for Impera is a play on a famous image of Crowley. A famous poet who went deep into the occult. And Crowley was known for wanted to be called "the beast 666" and when asked about this nickname in one of his trials, Crowley said ""It means merely sunlight. You may call me Little Sunshine."

Mephistopheles is not Lucifer. Lucifer is also a mistranslation and is not a name for Satan.
It is a mistranslation but it ended up being a synonym or title for Satan. My take on the lyrics is that it is about Crowley indeed, and just like Mephistopheles [german folkloric demon], is a distinguished 'scholarly' servant of Satan.
@@km666 Hence why I noted that in this tune. I know Mephisto is not Lucifer. They fought with each other in the rebellion against the tyrannical God.
I think he is referring to Lucifer because of the references to sunlight and all. But I may be wrong. And I am not even 100% sure so anything goes. I just love the little hints TF puts out there. :)

Is it your first time seeing them? I’ve been lucky enough live in three occasions. Once at download, once at the royal Albert hall and last rule supporting Metallica. They were incredible in every occasion.
Same my first ever show is february and im so excited. My all time fav band and huge music influences on me. Been trying to see them for a long time.

This song was released when I found out my grandma was dying... Ghost has been my rock getting through some tough times, and this is no different. I'm so thankful that I discovered this band back in 2018.

Been into Ghost since around 2014, but never felt so attached to a song from first listen as this one. This song is going to be a singalong, clapalong event at concerts for sure.
It is not currently in their set list. Saw them last week. Opened with a new song and played Hunter’s Moon and that’s as it.
Pretty sure its a reference to Crowley and the opium smoking he and his followers did. "Light up in the middle if the day, for how else could you see me?" And the call me little sunshine Is a Crowley quote.
It didn't hit me the first couple listens but once its in your brain my goodness. Just brilliant
My perception for the video is that it’s about deception. You have the lady in the train car moving uphill, the devil severs the car from the train and it roars downhill. Before a crash, the train car is then saved by the same entity that severed the car and now she follows him as a savior because she is unaware that the devil is responsible for the whole event.
Reminds me of classic 90’s grunge in a way kept thinking of soundgarden

Ghost is a must see band live, they put on a great show and their music is so catchy it’s awesome.
Liked this band since their inception, great stage "Schtick" and concept, Tobias is pretty savvy and talented, I liked the whole Papa Emeritus thing but never quite got into them, until I saw them live recently and the whole thing came full circle, great band live and he has great stage presence. Wasn't as into the older Nameless Ghoul masks but it's evolved to them having these steampunk style gasmasks and they were having a great time, interacting with each other and the crowd; this dude is poised now to reach another plateau, he's kind of resurrecting some classic '70's and '80's rock styles that got left behind for faster, heavier, screamier styles of metal, everyone trying to "out-metal" one another, Tobias/Papa went the other direction and it's freaking brilliant; he doesn't need to beat people over the head Slayer style, it slowly seeps into the psyche over time, the melodies, lyrics and hooks become catchy as fuck and the dark undertones suddenly become very obvious, and the "scooby-doo" spooky "schtick" becomes genuinely dark.
Omg when I saw this video I only could thought of Rose the Hat from Doctor Sleep, glad to see that I was not the only one xD. The video is a piece of art, a Faust reference, the music is beautiful and was a quote of Aleister Crowley.
Hunters Moon is on the album too. Don't know how I feel about that

My interpretation is essentially that her soul is lost. When Satan breaks through the railway he changes the course of where her soul goes and then it literally starts following a path of fire. When you're not accepted by what is conventional and accepted, you're looked at as an outcast. Then your soul is ripe for the picking. In the end, she starts following him. Her soul brought along like cargo. He's basically saying "I'm always here for you when no one else is".
I fucking love this band. A song that's essentially about mental health but cloaked in Satanic themes. Masterful.

Mephistopheles is not Satan.
Mephisto was/is a literary character for the story of Faust, created and written by Gothe. Part one finally published in full in 1806 and part two in 1831.
Mephisto is a minor functionary demon. His purpose was nothing more than to serve, at the behest of the Devil, those who had already corrupted their souls and sold them to the Devil. Mephisto was then, at the time those he was assigned to serve died, to collect and carry the corrupt soul back to Hell.
The characters of Faust and Mephistopheles are much older than Goethe (see Kit Marlowe, especially, and the Faustbuchs he based his works one), with Faust himself originating in a historical person (or possibly 2 with the same surname) in Germany in the late 1500s. Multiple works have been made around the theme and characters, many before Goethe.

I think this song is about being addicted. Smoking, drugs. when you are lonely and need help, but nobody is there. You reach out to the devil by getting drunk and etc. And when you die you still reach out to the devil as its a sin that you commited.
