Can't wait to see it finished how to would look like
looking forward to the next one thank you, Richard.
You are very welcome
Love the telephone poles really set off the see next to the heritage line
❤ thanks
great update looking forward to the Catenary addition
Thanks 👍
We're o gauge guys but the camera makes his ho scale look very appealing, much larger than seen by our eyes. I can spend hours watching ho gauge, fooling my eyes watching on a big screen tv, godsmacked by how much area the Trainboard has. Our o gauge board is 18 by 24 feet, gets filled up so quickly. You ho guys are so fortunate. Gary
'OO' 😉
Looking good
Long time ago, we used Dereham heritage
line in Norfolk to load cvrt on to flat beds might be good to do that sometimes at shows
Ahh that was you that bought it to the exhibition! I did see pictures, hope your keeping well, layout looking fab, that train stopping ghost always appears when the camera is on! 😂sorry if this is repeat not sure if Rob’s commented 😂
your layout is starting to look really good 👍
Cheers 🍻
Fantastic video! Thanks for that!
Wow Richard, the scenic side is looking absolutely awesome. Loving all the detail you have started to add, looking forward to seeing the next video, and the video of the garden railway. Take care and thanks for sharing
Hi Richard, your layout is coming along nicely. The bridge over the heritage line will fit in nicely there if you can crack it. On another note, you asked me to keep you informed on my grandson's 009 layout (he's12). Well, all being well, he's coming to stay with us for a few days next weekend and is planning to make a start on it. So, at some point, there will be a video on his Dylington Model Railway channel and probably photos of it on his community page. Have you seen the stop-motion animation he's been doing on his recent videos. He's done quite a good job of it, moving vehicles and figures along with the trains. He's even done a Dukes of Hazzard video. Looking forward to your next update...cheers James 🙂👍
Thanks James, funnily enough that's how I started my career, stop motion 😂
@@NewJunction well whether he'll make a career out of it or not I don't know, but he certainly seems to be enjoying it at the moment. I'm looking forward to seeing what he comes up with for his next video 🙂👍
good update on the channel layout looks good nice work thanks four the cool vid on channel thanks lee
Thanks Lee!
Brilliant video
Superb show...👍🏻
Nice update Richard. Those Woodland Scenics Telegraph poles really are a nice bit of kit and look great along the heritage line.
Just came back from a short absence of watching your vids. I really like what you did with the fence and T-poles. That "NEW JUNCTION" car is fantastic! They did a superb job for you.
What drove me a bit nutty was seeing that "B1" loco pulling coaches backward. Is that common in the UK?? The only reason it is done in the USA is due to the lack of a "wye" or some other turn around. Many of the tourist line short railroads do it because they only have one track in use. With the steam unit backwards, all the smoke and soot from the stack moves closer to the carriages instead of up & over them.
Good Luck on future endeavors and enjoy!
Richard, a great job, yes time, balancing it just right is a challenge, but you doing great, thanks for sharing⭐🚂👍
Thanks 👍
I like the Telegraph poles great detail! I’ve now ordered a couple of packs for my layout 😆
Looking forward to seeing progress with the catenary! Your layouts progressing well!
You and me both!
Hi Richard.
Layout looking fantastic.
Those telegraph poles look the business.
Nice slow running with the trains.
Thank you for sharing.
Thumbs up thumped 👍
.... Pete....
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice update Richard - the heritage line and embankment is looking ace. I’m in the early stages of creating Old Tileford in my loft - not sure if I’ll bother documenting it for my channel yet but nice to be able to get involved in the hobby again.
great video
I lost my biscuit in my tea looking at the long racks of wagons LOL - Love the update and the layout is looking superb as always - keep safe bud.. Garry 😁
Layout is looking fantastic pal, really like the embankment scene between the heritage line and mainline!
Great! I'm not sure if I'll ever get wires in like that as I do N scale and feel it'd be too fiddly, but I think your yours, it looks great! Thanks for the update!
You are very lucky to have so much history to model. Additionally you are modelling it very well as always.
Many thanks!
Great update those telegraph poles add so much to that bank, its amazing how the small stuff make the best scenes. Looking forward to see the catenary as I'm currently in the process of building a WCML inspired upper level to my layout.
Thanks 👍
My understanding of British land ownership is that the railway needs to own the land that it regrades, and it would then fence off its land. So, the embankment down from the heritage line to the road would be owned by the railway, and it would be appropriate for the fence to be placed along the roadside.
Looks amazing I can only hope mine will be half as good when I get to that stage. Can't wait to see update on the garden, realy looking forward to it.
Should be good
Good to see you back Richard. The layout is looking great! I'd suggest with the new bridge going down the laser cut route, I think with card and plaster you are asking for trouble, particularly in the garage. Anyhoo, keep up the good work and hope to see you soon. All the best!
Great update Richard, love the telegraph poles, would love to see how you are going to paint those tanks
I'll see if I can do a video
WOW!!! definitely come along and brilliant to see most/all lines in action and some great stock, including a rolling banana! Nice DB Cargos, even if made by Bachmann, lol
I'd love a rake but not enough pocket money lol
Looking good 👍
Mayflower is a beauty know doubt, I saw her a few years back on the WCML with a support coach heading south. Lovely stuff.
Looking forward to seeing you add the OHLE ⚡️
Cheers John b😎
I have much admiration for those who model the catenary gantrys and cables, way above my skill set 👍🏼😊
West hill make it easy
Good to see you back. It has felt like a long 2 months! Hope the next one comes along sooner. Very nice to see what you have done recently and to hear the upcoming plans, although for a pensioner, the thought of the amount of money spent is a bit frightening
Lots of saving up
You've been busy... looking great, and the steam loco sounds really good...
Be good to see the garden layout...😊🇳🇿👍
PS loved the closing sequence....
Thanks!
missed you richard , my word you have been busy . heritage looks great . Ade
Hello Richard I hope your well, I have the same 97 model.
Very nice rolling stock and your layout is looking good.
Cheers Deano
Thanks Deano
It was nice to meet you albeit briefly at the Accurascale event at Rails! It was nice to see the new models - I particularly liked the small industrial steam locos.
You might recall my massive carrier bag, sadly I only managed to fill it with one of the nice Rails exclusive Henderson’s Relish box wagons - a must for any born (or naturalised) Sheffielder 😉
Ha, the pleasure was all mine!
Great video. Hi from NZ
Glad you enjoyed it
PLEASE DO A RUNNING SESSION WHEN YOUR SCENERY IS DONE
awsome
Thanks
Layout is coming along very nicely, definitely better to get a section “finished” to keep the flame alive. The details you’ve added work really well and really expect the addition of catenary will be an absolute game changer. I must say, it would be great to know whose sounds are on that B1, it’s so realistic, at one point in wondered if you’d edited with real sounds over the top of the running shot! Keep up the great work 👍
Oooo I like that B1, but I have to say the Hornby one is better and they're doing a Mayflower. Loving the work and I really do like the laser cut platforms.
Many thanks
Harry
Funds don't allow for a Hornby one 😂
Hi I've a little suggestion for the road above the heritage line a couple of cyclists there snapping pics od the freights as they go past
Great progress regardless Richard puts my own efforts to shame, but I'll plod on👍😊✌️💜
I'm sure yours in great!
@@NewJunction I'll try and get there. How's your O gauge adventure 🤔💜🤞
Hello Richard. I've been following your journey with interest. Your creation is a thing of technical beauty! I have an observation/question: on most exhibition/YT layouts, the addition of OHLE gets in the way of the sight lines, reducing the visual impact for the viewer. How will you counter this, or do you see it as an inevitable consequence of modelling a modern, electrified line?
Where do you find the time for it all! I also cant wait to get hold of that new catenery, need the first MK1 version for 80s WCML, looks superb.
For weathering the ballast in the yard, I use a very, very weak solution of poster paint, the mucky water from washing your brushes, plus a few blobs for oil where needed and let it run a bit, looks very real for sidings etc. if concentrated where needed. I also use sand for ballast, not the stuff from the builders merchant but real stuff off the beach. Once sieved I reckon it looks better than bought ballast as its already weathered! I do live on a beach though which helps..😀
First of all the biomass wagons from Accurascale are IIA wagons, I have all 4 packs totalling 8 wagons altogether and to be fair I do like them, I just don’t use mine as much right now because I don’t have a layout setup yet, those OHLE from west hill do look quite good, already seen a video of those by Dave at Dean Park and OHLE is something I would like to look at at some point in the future, quite nice sound on the B1, I myself have just started out with sound fitting a a sound decoder to my Bachmann Class 158 in Northern Livery and I have to say I am enjoying the sound, I use to not be for it but it’s something I’m definitely going to look at. Fitting to more of my locomotives, some overall good work done here, keep it up.
Cheers
Nice steam loco
Thanks
Hi Richard, the layout is looking great. Just a quick question where did you get your display cases
Cheers Jonathan
My N gauge head keeps looking at this thinking it's O gauge, your stock looks huge for some reason 😂 coming along nicely though, love the little branch line and the B1!
Gary
Lineside fencing: at the top of cuttings and at the bottom of embankments was the general rule so yours will be better at the bottom!
Thanks
Please make your home made bridge into a skew bridge, like the famed Rainhill Bridge.
It will look so much more natural to the scene, and provide wonderful visual interest. As well as a talking point!
Ooo I'll take a look
Nice one Richard it would be nice to have a running session with the Sound fitted B1 1264 on a railtour at speed just like Mayflower does on the main line
Great idea
Hi Richard..the layout is coming together nicely and who doesn’t love a B1…also is that an accurascale Class 31 I see? 🤔…really looking forward to getting mine
Well spotted! 😁
looking great Richard and nice to see long trains running.
Is the noise I hear while the trains running from the ballast?
I know on my small layout where I have some ballast, I do get that grinding noise. I did not make the ballast deep and used fine ballast.
Any thoughts on this? In your case what’s the point of having digital audio?
I like the wires
Cheers
Charlie
My God that's some WILD jump cuts.......
Works 💪🏻
Very good video update, I noticed you have a network rail yellow barrier coach, is there any chance Accurascale will produce any in the future? Also do you know if the Hatton’s Rail Head Treatment wagons or the FEA spine wagons will ever be produced again?
Hi Richard, I follow your video with interest viewing this one I’m not sure the telegraph poles are correct for the a UK railway? To my recollection our telegraph poles only had pairs of wires with either side of the pole none on the top of the pole. Possibly some local lower voltage power lines might be like this?
Lol who else thought the W on the New Junction looked like the tip of a male appendage. 3:50 😅😅😂 Layout looks great 👍
It's on your brain for a reason 😆
Amazing layout and video, always a pleasure to watch! Any intentions on signalling the layout/mainline? 😁😁
Eventually, it's just on a long list
Wow, coming on great now. Bit of a chicken and egg. Which do you do first, lol 🤣. Personally amost wish you hadnt got to put catenery up. Im sure it will look impresdive when its done though. The pack you showed didnt look too heavy. Ive seen video of the WR catenery, and it looks totally over scale. Im sure Brunel would not be impressed, lol 🤣.
I think we're just used to seeing small catenary masts
new video - I was worried due to the Christmas rush we would not see you until January
I forgot to say thank you for the update and I greatly like your videos of the build - I found your channel thanks to your viral outside layout build video
@QALibrary it's my pleasure, glad they're of interest
Guessing by the fact that you’re keeping it in a garage that the temperatures will fluctuate a bit and might be damp, have you done anything to prevent against this? Pondering making an n gauge layout in the shed but concerned the damp is going to ruin it
It’s looking fantastic my only criticism I think you need to look at the bridge angle and move it lol or remove the stobart arctic it won’t make it lol 😂
Who won't 😂
The heritage line being formerly double track looks a bit weird. Yes the road bridge over it is now double track, but the embankment, the bridge over the road, and the main line bridge over it are clearly not built for double track
Have you thought about using foamboard for the bridge? Definitely dry it in the house though as garage's cam be so changeable.
Did you manage to pick up a 'Caroline' inspection saloon in the end btw?
That's a great idea! Re Caroline sadly not
@@NewJunctionthat's a shame. I know you were tempted by the idea. There might be some left on their site.
@14:10 Sure. Right. Any excuse to buy more trains... Like we needed more. :P LOL
Eventually, I would love to have a model of each train I have been on, or to which I (via a family member) have a connection.
Now, to find space for them all...
😂 busted!
Nice update there Richard. Your layout is really coming along nicely. Can I ask what MK1 buffet car you have? Take care - Riggsy
It's a Bachmann one.
@@NewJunction fab, thank you
Im not a model train enthusiast but still like to watch few video's. Are you planning to add more track in the middle of the garage its a very good size layout just abit plain still very nice. Just i think some more added track in the middle possible turntable or coach sheds or something maybe water feature.
Sadly not, the layout opens up for exhibition mode so it wouldn't work
With the bridge you could 3D print one if you have the resources or see if a company makes one or does/ will it need to be a custom one?
Theres a couple of OO/HO bridges on thingiverse not sure if they are your preffered style
@@darknut9696 oooo ill take a look
Where did you get that sound chip for the b1
John JMC on youtube
Where did you get the NWR support coach from?
It was a custom respray
@@NewJunction ahh ill save up some pennies then and get in touch with a mate lol
I have two Warwells on pre-order, but not heard anything about them yet ?
I've just checked my order and mine appear to have been cancelled too ??? what's going on ?
Get in touch with Accurascale directly? 😊
@@NewJunction I've emailed support 4 times and sent PMs to their FB page but no replies :(
Are them tanks the same scale, they look quite small compared
Same scale 😊
Can i ask is there a Name/Company that makes your Wall Mounted Cabinets behind You? Thank You
Picture pride cabinets
I need the 97… ❤
Paint yours yellow! 😆
@@NewJunction it’s already in progress! ❤️
How will the catenary work with the 2 modes?
No difference, the curved ends don't have any. 😊
@@NewJunction So there will be 2 sets that will join up?
Layout looks great and love the updates :)
Hi Richard., Have you finished with the o gauge layout?
Not at all! As I said in the video watch this space 😊
Now that looks so much better; still things you wish to do but it’s coming along. Dramatic change passenger to freight rolling stock. One feature you are planning and will reap the rewards is where to take video and pictures from on the layout. Looking forward to next instalment of the railway, all best Marc from Leighton Buzzard
Thanks
First real comment! 😂😂
nope
Fake! 😂
@@NewJunction the pacer man’s caught me out 😂
2 things about the road bridge over the heritage line. Try air drying modelling clay like DAS, £4 at The Works, give the card a prime of PVA and get rolled out clay on while PVA is still damp. You can roll sheets of clay in advance. You can work the clay either before it’s dried or after. Pop bridge in a plastic bag/box and seal if you want to stop it drying out. This method doesn’t distort card and it doesn’t shrink like plaster can. Point 2; as a cyclist I hate you for the severity of the ramp! My knees are aching looking at it! 🤣
You have a flying banana
I wish
The yellow clas 37
Lovely work ,how come you had to hold The sign 😊,ask your design team to look at a class 81 pleeaaaasssseee ,be great ,anyway hope your well mate and be safe
Mark 😂😊
Big woof for our lulu
I wonder what the name of the local model shop is?! Dividing fence on the heritage line would be prototypical at the bottom of the embankment rather than the top as that land would belong to the railway and that would be there boundary line so all good there to run it at road level rather than rail level :)
'Tony's never there Trains' 😆
@@NewJunction hmmmmmmm ;)
The "tanks" are LRV's, in the Scimitar range of vehicles.
I am sure you know, but in case any viewers don't, when it comes to fencing that protects the railway, the general rule of thumb is that you will find it at the bottom of embankments and along the top of cuttings.
Thanks!
First 😂
nope
Never come first! 😂
Hi Philip here me and my girlfriend like your train layout and we are doing my layout like yours is that ok let me know
Fine by me, good luck!
Sound ! I can't hear you when the trains are , !
Much better when you wear a microphone
100%
GRAFITTI
Why on earth modellers are modelling Grafitti on freight trains or on trackside 'furniture' beggars belief.......?
It is the greatest assault on our environment and culture, and there is no reason for it to be modelled at all.
James Hennighan
Yorkshire, England
For the same reason the grass is green and not purple! 😆
I imagine it’s because he’s trying to represent real life. Ignoring graffiti on a model representation isn’t going to eradicate Graffiti in real life any more than it encourages it.
And to counter your culture argument, one of the most culturally influential artists of the modern era, who’s work is very sought after and often valued in the hundreds of thousands if not millions of pounds is an anonymous person known as Banksy. A graffiti artist.
Like it or loath it, graffiti is here to stay, so it’ll get represented in model form as a reflection of reality.
@@ManchesterOxfordGate
Oh Dear.....
Someone who thinks graffiti is 'real life's rather than the blot that it is.
Modelling it is a clear acceptance that it is alright, which is pretty pathetic really. We should be recognising that it is an unwelcome imposition on all of us by a number of stupid people, intent on despoiling and defacing things, because they think they have the right to do so.
....and yes, modelling it will encourage more of it. We have only to see the increase in modelling it, (mainly because one supplier is promoting it), to know this.
It's like the authorities not removing it the moment it occurs. More of it appears.
It's the 'Broken Windows' component....
Once one window gets broken......more windows get broken..
