Yo! This was my first time installing a door knob and this video lead the way to my success. It’s looks great and there’s no light getting thru the side.
Ummm you forgot to show which side of the screw in collar goes into the door. I'm perplexed right now cause I've done it many times before but now I think I have it backwards.
I usually put a flat head screw driver in between the two plates, (the shiny silver one, and the goldish one) and then twist the screw driver to pry the two pieces apart. Hope this helps!
The front and back door knob comes apart by undoing the 2 screws on either side of base plate that sits against the door. This should allow you to properly install the knobs on both sides of the door. Hope this helps

Had no idea why it wasn't actually locking and just opening even though it was locked

Im not exactly sure since it depends what type of door knob you have. From my experience, it usually unscrews or it can be pried apart
