Yes, Chris Stapleton's music is absolutely friggin' phenomenal. I am blown away not only by his uniquely fantastic vocal ability but by his amazing strumming on that guitar and his unending proliferation for writing music as well as the lyrics. Just incredible. I have never been a fan of "Country" music, but Stapleton's music transcends any genre label and might be more appropriately described as "folk song blues with a country edge." I cannot convey enough my pure appreciation for this man's talents and sharing them with the world. ;-) And, yes, that "background singer," who is a member of his band, is his lovely wife, Morgane (and a wonderful vocalist in her own right).
Definitely correct Chris came from the Bluegrass gospel scene...... lots of influences and nuances of his past in his current music... Chris Is awesome..
