I played Terran for years and i was an absolute noob. Always silver league, occasionally low gold. Highest MMR was 2500, i absolutely sucked. Watching Marcs content i decided to play zerg....and within 15-20 games, I am already at my highest MMR ever at over 2700. This is a race I never thought id try but did because of marcs fun play style. THANK YOU UTHERMAL!
Zerg is by far the easiest race for macroing. Just hotkey all your hatcheries together, select larva and just pick how many of each unit you want. At lower leagues macro is 90% of winning. I started as terran and tried protoss for a while and really liked it and then zerg quickly became my best race. It wasn't until I was in diamond I got back into terran and its my favorite race now.
@@omnimoeish yeah my macro is so much better as a zerg. I can get to 3-4 bases pretty quickly. I am really enjoying how much better SC is when you can actually win a game or two.

the thing he said about negativity and sc2 streamers is so on point. i watched heromarine 1 time because he is german (and i am german). i wanted to take a look how he plays. he lost a game and directly flamed his opponent with: " oh, yea look how much luck this guy had. that dude is such a bad player. how can i lose to a noob like him."
i directly turned the stream off. that behaviour for a pro player is laughable and disgusting. instead of saying yea he had a little bit luck and pointing it out what happened his behaviour was like a 14 year old kid. that is exactly the reason why i love the termi vids. never a bad mood or flaming, if its luck (anyway on which side) he points it always out with a laugh and a smile on his face. there are so many aholes in this game that can't lose with honor and mark is the perfect example for showing what went wrong, what went right, but never ever takes it so seriously when he loses.

IKR? I notice a lot of the time they lose to unorthodox plays and call it "luck" when the person doing a blind counter has probably lost a ton to whatever strat they were using so now just always counters it
I truly get what you mean.
The attitude makes even longer episodes easy to watch. As a terran main, I love to see how other people/pros play, but whenever badmouthing the opponent gets prominent in the commentary, I tire out way more easily.
Marc's lighthearted, energetic commentary and the respect he shows for his opponents makes any episode so much more watchable, indeed.

You should check the replay and see when they sent out the scout. If it was after you told them your race or before.

There's definitely a phenomenon in SC2 where the typical player isn't particularly joyful.
I think what it comes down to is that the SC2 ladder is pitched to the public as a democratized meritocracy, i.e., a place where anyone anywhere in the world can achieve acclaim based on merit. In practice, this attracts people with problems in other parts of their lives who go to SC2 as an escape. To them, becoming a solid SC2 player is the one thing in which they derive self worth, so then when they lose a ladder game their entire self conception collapses and they become furious.
Idk this is just what I've seen and how I've understood it.
I don't think I've ever played a game with any semblance of player vs. player where the 'typical player was joyful.'
@@miaryaigne6379 The best experiences I've had in 1v1 was when there were people I knew online who would play against each other and others would observe. Then it's kind of fun. I'd imagine that at the top of pro gaming it can be kind of like this.
@@coopclauson There's a _huge_ amount of "I don't wanna play" and other "bad feels" in the chess world. It's the nature of 1v1. Team/duo games have other drawbacks.

Part of the reason I watch you is because you are positive, even when facing defeat. Sometimes I don't even know you are close to defeat until you say "Ah man, well he got us there gg" because you are constantly so excited to see if "this next counter" will work

You should use a spin wheel with all the cheese strategy on it. You play what you roll. Of course, this means one wheel per race.

It's funny how in LOL when you are winning and say GG it's good manners, but in SC2 it's offensive xD.
It does seem like playing random might actually be bad news for uThermal's strategies. He plays poker with his opponents, bluffing and betting on expectations. Throwing a random at the opponent makes them harder to predict, doesn't it? And uThermal thrives on guessing what his opponents are thinking.
