Thank you so much for this video! My husband and I were so confused by this “sales pitch” that came from our doctor and the flyers. I have peace of mind knowing that we can donate to the public cord bank for free and if we need to use the public cord bank in the future we can use our health insurance! What a joke

Helpful info. I understand much better now. Thank you. To the mom who shared her story and to ABC.

Not all banks are prohibitively expensive. My husband and I used Genecord, a private facility with an absolutely great staff, and we could not be happier with the results. At the end of the day, banking is worth it.

In India this is not heavily persuaded. But every hospital has a contact desk for stem cells. I guarantee that more than 90 percent parents do not even understand what that really is. But since "IT IS EXPENSIVE" and all of my friends are going for it; so let's "JOIN THE RAT RACE". I personally do not think that it is totally a waste but it is not as useful either as people percieve it to be.

In China, public and private cord banking are conducted by the same company. parents are encouraged to store cord blood of their new born children into private cord banking instead of public banking , as the former one would make the company money.

" Do not guarantee that the cells will be applicable in every situation " does not mean "it may not work for your child" . It means, if your child has a disease within the spectrum of about 96 diseased conditions available so far in the list, it will be applicable, not if something else happens. Hope, every child remains healthy, but if something happens, which is otherwise not curable by conventional therapy, then you may lament and blame this media person. But he has no responsibility because he is no stem cell specialist. He can't repair the wound created by his misinformation.

I would want to save my child's cord blood to help them in the future if something were to happen.

They streal 1/3 of the newborns blood that the baby needs! It reaches the baby quickly after delivery and it is a lot blood for a small baby! And it seem to be used for things they not always says, as “cure against ageing” and to elderly with Alzheimer’s - but the baby needs this blood!

The baby needs this blood! It’s a 1/3 of a newborn total amount of blood!

Chihuahuaization Amelie this is a really late answer but it’s basically a donation, same as donating your blood to a blood bank. Anyone that’s a match can use it.
