    On my old E46 M3, we had the roof bow welded in place. I was also able to source an OEM CSL roof which made for a perfect fit.

      I've always welded the roof bow in on my previous swaps but on my personal car I wanted to try out a new method which would be better than just the spot welds that are usually done. I do wish I waited on my OEM CSL roof to come in instead of going for aftermarket

      kilos are easier for me since that's what I grew up with. also more accurate

    How did you install the roof moulding since the carbon roof does not have clips?

  • @tonggi

    I was thinking of doing the exact same thing for the bow, screw it on and use rivets.

    • @MunichVenom
      @MunichVenom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the chassis epoxy and rivets it’s not going anywhere. Basically welded on. I feel this is better than the spot welds I’ve seen on other builds

    Dang even with the issues it ended up looking good. Hopefully that bulge wasn’t that big of a problem

    • @MunichVenom
      @MunichVenom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was a stressful problem to have since you have no other option than installing the roof at that point

    Love the content, keep it up, what's the brand of the marker you used to mark off the spot welds and where did you buy it from?

    • @MunichVenom
      @MunichVenom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Its a Edding 3000 marker. Here's a link to a 4 pack of the marker.

    does this compromise the structural integrity of the car? i've been thinking about doing this, just want to know if its a structurally sound modification

    I’m about to install my carbon roof and I can’t wait! Where/how did you end up relocating the shark fin antenna?

    • @MunichVenom
      @MunichVenom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That’s awesome. I love my carbon roof. I ended up hiding the shark fin the in little compartment in the trunk on the drivers side. It still works perfectly fine on mine

      @MunichVenom have you had any issues with leaks? I'm gearing up for this swap to eliminate my leaking sunroof currently

    You gotta look at the new roof before you get the old one off lol. What if the new one is fucked up in shipping?
    Lol that’s exactly what happened.
    You also didn’t add the sound proofing to the weight.

    What did you do about the sun roof switch/controls/wiring? Is the button still there or did you have a delete for it?

    • @MunichVenom
      @MunichVenom  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      With the new headliner that I got, I chose the option that did not have the holes for the sunroof button since I was not going to need it anymore. I did not undo the harness to take the wires out of the car though.

    If I can get this done on my e46 m3 for 2k parts and labor then it'd be worth it right? (I hate sunroofs too) 2M in San Diego quoted me 2k for parts and labor with a week turn around might do it. But also want Pole-positions ; /

    • @MunichVenom
      @MunichVenom  ปีที่แล้ว

      depending of what type of parts they plan to install. my parts alone were over 2k and thats without the alcantara i ended up doing as well

    How has it held up since you've installed it? Any weird flexing from being in the sun regularly or is it still ok?

    Did that bulge in the carbon roof end up causing a big issue with the install? Im also looking into this to do in the wintertime. Also did you buy a new oem headliner?

    • @MunichVenom
      @MunichVenom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The worst part was clamping down the roof and introducing stresses into the material during the clamping process. Visually you can’t really see where the bulge used to be. Will see how it holds up over time and will give everyone an update in the future.

    • @MunichVenom
      @MunichVenom  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I bought a brand new oem headliner without the sunroof cutout.

    I think you guys could have done a lot better. Drill bit not suitable - possibly drilled too deep - may have weakened the structures underneath - especially where sheet metal still needs the spot welds to stay connected to another.
    The brace is spot welded from factory. Plug welds would have worked fine. Not sure surface big enough for clueing and riveting.
    It is my understanding that the structural carbon needs to be bonded straight to metal - not to primer or paint. The clue used to bond would have been applied to the entire surface and would have protected the metal from rusting.
    The bulging is not really a problem. You could push it down with a finger couldnt you. Provided you have enough clamps to hold clamp it down while the clue cures it is no problem.

    What engine mods did you complete? (i.e. cams, exhaust, intake, headers, pulleys) ? I just installed the Turner Motor Sport CSL intake and full race Super Sprint exhaust with cat-less headers and Kassel Performance ECU CSL firmware tune with Turner Motor Sports pulleys lighten Fly Wheel and stage three clutch, next is to DYNO, I hope I can make 340 WHP. th-cam.com/video/WUxswctlxxs/w-d-xo.html

    • @MunichVenom
      @MunichVenom  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      did a karbonius intake, with a full exhaust system (headers, sec1, x-pipe, ss race exhaust), electric fan upgrade and a HTE performance tune to make 350 whp on a mustang dyno. That was with rubbing on the rear tires, the car would've gotten closer to 355whp for sure without rubbing.

    Your video guy needs to use the zoom feature in the camera and not the zoom feature on his arms that moves the camera past the minimum focal length and causes it to blur the entire video.
