I cant get it working on W10 64 bit. Installed , added 1.02F, then extracted and copied tackleberrys files from JUTPWSS.7z to USAF. Still starts and CTD's. Gimme the secret please.
In hindsight sure 'oh, it's a simplified arcade radar'... but shouldn't the goal in real life to be that easy?!? Every time I go crazy trying to master AA and AG radar in DCS I just remember how simple and fun USAF was. Thanks for the unload, definitely a nice blast from the past.
Good to see that you are still active, hope to see another breakthrough with this sim, or at least a mod community form to try and modernize the game engine to support at least DX9 and better textures, fix the limited sound support ( flare and missile launch use same sound ) and a few other things.

I have the original box and CDs (the blue and red)... the box has this like a book open, with a picture of all the planes together... really good, and in the inside of the box, the book with instructions! I love the game, unfourtnetly the drive link is broke in the forum you posted
I loved this game when I was a Kid, its not really a Sim IMO It is, but It strikes a perfect balance of realism and fun. You could just fly a plane for a couple mins and fly a mission just fine. I would love If someone made a game with that realism/Fun balance with a nice campaign for multiple aircrafts dynamic campaigns and all of that with modern hardware in mind and nice graphics.
Since head up display is a reflected projection of light, It is additive by nature and can't be darker than the environment, only brighter. Here and in other Jane sims it can be darker. It always puzzled me. Nitprick.
Really nice to know, I await to know how to get that, considering that also the standard game program is hard today to be caught (piracy excluded, please) . I think that this series had a nice balance between arcade and simulation, I found boring that the older games had only a playable plane and their graphics/sounds are really too bad. And trivial is observing that theese are the games where online multiplayer is mandatory
Woha! Easily my most favourite air combat SIM when I was a teenager! Even then I couldn't enjoy it fully cause of windows XP. I might give it a try again now. I'm not sure I'm ready for the likes of DCS world and their absolute realism yet, not the likes of Ace combat and their arcade behaviour. This was the only game that struck the right balance for me! Thanks a lot!
The big problem with Janes USAF was it's scale. In the internal workings of the code, it was revealed the scale of objects were rendered twice (scale 2) the size of the map scale. This was because Pixel were not allowed to render the game at scale 1 ( object rendered to real scale of digital map ) When attempting to use Scale 1, the aircraft would appear embedded in the runways etc and unusable. In many ways Janes USAF was very much ahead of it's time using the new affordable home computer tech. Even today Janes USAF is a playable game. I would disagree it's a middle core flight sim game but hey!!

Do you have any tips on how to fix lows fps? I got the game running with the instructions but it runs with around 20fps or lower. Is there a fix? I'm using a GTX1070 Nvidia Card and a Ryzen 5 3600 cpu
@@highlyclassified5565 Not exactly sure what you're asking about. There are ISO for Jane's USAF if you don't have a cd-rom or a dvd in your laptop. There are also no-cd for the sim.

i remember playing this only, pretty fun. Best terrain in a simulator ever when it was released.

Maybe try Strike Fighters 2 by Third Wire, or watch out for Modern Air Combat by Eagle Dynamics (keep an eye on the DCS website) coming eventually...
