Love that she still calls on him to be her friend and stand with her in trying times. He was a good friend to many people and would have appreciated the honesty and respect of her approach. I also heard he always made sure they were never alone together to avoid any awkwardness.

An untrained ear wouldn't necessarily be able to recognize Prince's original song; "Stand Back" doesn't feel like plagiarism at all, as both tracks sound quite different. However, she was so right being honest about it and calling him. I wish they had sung it together on stage.

Thanks for sharing, Wonder why she didn't credit him on the song? I knew he played piano on " Stand back " but didn't know he played guitar as well. Stevie was fast as we say in the 80's. I think prince was worried to be alone with her. He liked good girls.

I think he was worried the world would eat her alive and she'd do enough drugs to kill 200 people or more

I think by “worried” she was referring to her use of drugs. She tells another story about him visiting her when she was on tour and she was sick and he started feeding her cough medicine and then got mad at her that she might take too much.

Ahhhhhh I love this story of course... but I wish I could ask Stevie: in 1982 before cell phones, wouldn't you know he was in LA from the area code? Or did Prince have some unique early prototype car phone?? 😄

The story I heard was that she was coming on to him and dancing around him and that he fled to the bathroom and had his crew get him out of there. 😅
