Backpacks can be washed in the washer. I reused my backpack through high school. I still have my kids from when they were in school. They have been out of school for over 10 years. Jansport will replace the backpack if they break.
I always used the same backpack I had a north face 2016 until 2018 then in 2018 I got a Swiss army backpack and I still now when I was growing up, we never got backpacks every year. We use the same one until It got stained or zipper broke or something.
Here's a microwave fudge recipe of my mom's since the 1970's. Really yummy. Microwave Fudge 1 lb. box powdered sugar 3/4 C. cocoa 1 stick margarine 1/4 to 1/3 C. milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 C. fine chopped nuts (optional) Grease a 9x9 or 8x8 pan with margarine. In large microwave save bowl mix powdered sugar and cocoa well. Place milk and margarine on top of mixture. (DO NOT MIX!!!!) Microwave on high 1-2 minutes or until margarine is nearly melted. No longer than 2 minutes! Add vanilla, stir with wooden spoon until nearly smooth (you can use a mixer for smoother consistency). Fold in nuts. With wooden spoon spread into greased pan. Refrigerate until set about 45 minutes. For quick set, put in freezer for about 20-25 min. Cut into squares. Keep uneaten portion in refrigerator.
As a European my brain brakes a little every time a watch these American back to school hauls. Everybody here uses the same backpack, same pencil cases, same pens and so on for multiple years. Only when sth brakes you buy it new. But also our backpacks are a lot sturdier than the backpacks I've seen in these videos.
Im from the netherlands. I’m 36 And I still have the pencils that I bought for school when I was 11😂. But we don’t use pencils to write here, that’s not allowed. It was only used for some certain lessons.
During college I wore my backpack on one shoulder, too, Addie. By 40 y.o. I had to have shoulder surgery on that shoulder! The things we do when we are young, affect us when we are older. Use items they way they were intended! 🥴
Here’s the best fudge recipe: -Use butter to grease the bottom and sides of a 13 x 9 in pan and set to the side -Put 3/4 cup of butter or margarine, 3 cups of white sugar, and 2/3 cup(5 oz) of evaporated milk in a large pot. -Bring to a full boil while stirring CONSTANTLY. Continue stirring for 5 min. When the 5 min is up, the remaining steps need to be done quickly or the fudge won’t set correctly. -Remove the pot from the heat and add a 12 oz bag of semi sweet chocolate chips. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted. -Stir in 1 tsp of vanilla extract -Stir in 1 jar (7 oz) of marshmallow creme until all of the white is gone -Pour the entire mixture into the greased pan. Let cool over night at room temperature -Cut and enjoy. Store in an airtight container to avoid it drying out. I have made this recipe for over 20 yrs as Christmas gifts and everyone always looks forward to it. I also make it for staff events and it’s a big hit!
My son who is now my Man Child at 22 was taught about the No Thank You Bite when he was 3. It definitely is worth it to get kids to at least try a bite of new food.
LLBean backpacks are 100% worth the money. Unlike most brands they actually do last for years on end, and monogramming can be done before they ship. I'm 33. There's an LL bean backpack still hanging around in perfect shape from the year I was in 7th grade. My one I bought when I was 20, in college for ridiculously large books, is still in perfect shape 13 years and many trips later, too. I can't understand buying back pack brands that don't even make it through a school year. I have never worried about a broken strap
1 strap is definitely (while cool) is giving heaps of teens/users back issues. In Australia alot of the teens/kids use the backbacks with wheels and they have extendable handles.......this helps to avoid back issues in the future.
Early '00s, too! In High school, I either used one strap, a cross-the-body bag, or just a binder. Now I have a little backpack/purse that I always carry with both straps, even when just going a few feet before setting it back down. lol
Fudge can’t be too bad spread on bread….think of how good Nutella is! 😀. Also just lift the fudge out of the pan by the parchment. It makes it so easy to cut.
I’ve noticed in the last couple of videos how mature Brinley has gotten! She has the most gorgeous smile and she is absolutely beautiful! She is such a sweet gentle soul!
We always did "no thank you" helpings. Then we also did "I'll trade you" helpings. This was anything served that they didn't want could be traded away with a sibling for something else.
Some schools have a classroom set of books, so your own book could stay at home (for studying & homework, etc.) & then you don’t have to carry them! Saves on wear & tear of the books!😊
Great idea letting each kid go online and pick the one they wanted. They all did a awesome job and everyone was happy with their choice. The bread looked so yummy. Blessings to you all.
No* And yes they absolutely did. "Favorite" is spelled "favourite" just about everywhere outside of the U.S. That's scary you don't even know that. Then tried to correct them on their correct spelling of the word and said "not" when it's "no." Just wait til you find out its also "colour" and not "color." 😂😂
Really heavy backpacks carried over one shoulder can lead to neck, back, and shoulder pain. Doctors do not recommend. I know this because I used to carry one strap only too.
Hey Shelley and Jared, If you ensure the straps are correctly adjusted so the backpack sits in the correct position, there'll be less strain on the straps (and on the kid's shoulders). A lot of kids wear their backpack incorrectly, and it places a lot of stress on the straps. It also doesn't help their backs. There'll be plenty of videos showing how to fit a backpack for each individual child. It may be a good idea for a video so other parents know.🎒🎒🎒
When I was a kid, we didn't have backpacks. We had to carry our books everywhere we went including home. Of course, we had lockers in middle and high school.
My high school had 3 floors and I lugged that thing everywhere. Only Grade 11 & 12's got lockers and text books are huge and heavy to carry around on your back. A lot of my Gen literally have back problems from lugging around heavy text book. Don't even start on university texts...
Anevaeh, I love your backpack! It's so stylish. When you were showing it, I noticed that 2 zip pulls, on the front, had keyring type rings (split rings) attached to them. I wondered what they were for. Then you pulled out the two pink fluffy toys! I think they're meant to go on those rings. But, you can put them anywhere, of course.
Its funny how Shelley got the breadmaker yet Jared makes the bread - a very similar thing happens in my family - my mum got a breadmaker for Christmas probably like 15-20 years ago and I don't think she's ever used it, yet my dad makes bread in it like every couple of weeks. You get to enjoy all the homemade bread without the work; it's great!
I just love them kids. I think Braxton is just so darn cute. But so is all the little boys. They just make me smile when they smile so handsome. Aubrey and Addison are such beautiful ladies.
jared, the gluten free noodles in a yellow and blue box... SCHAR brand.... make sure you bring water to boil. THEN put in for exactly 13 minutes. no more no less.... gluten free noodles have an exact cooktime window. but they're really good
If time allows between everyone schedules before school resumes, I think it would be a fun vlog if you guys, crazy pieces, Mindee, Bishop, etc- everyone has a huge back to school party in maybe crystals back yard swimming pool, trampoline, get bouncy houses… etc.. I think all the cousins would love that! And fans like me would love to see the vlogs of that!
You said with your fudge that you did more than the time it asked for - that might be why it turned out so chewy. I've never made fudge exactly, but I've helped make a caramel filling for caramel shortbread before, which I think is a pretty similar process to fudge, but if you cook it for too long in the pan it ends up setting as a super chewy toffee instead. It looks very tasty though, I might have to try out making some fudge for myself!
I think it would be really great and fun if you showed even more of reusing and repurposing things. I really loved how you went over all the school supplies to check what you already had so as not to over consume. Like many people have said, some of those backpacks would last for many years. The one with the black an pink bag, that lunch box is very small. I got my son the same lunch box, about 2 years ago. It barely fitted anything including his juice box. The lunch bix didn't even last all year. It was supposed to be a bento lunch box. But,the bookbag is so cool.
When I use to use a bread maker, I took the mixing paddle out as soon as it was done mixing. That way there isn't a big hole in the bread when it's done baking. 😉
I made peanut clusters a couple weeks ago. My family thought I was nuts, but they definitely ate them without complaint. 😂 Christmas candy can be for any time of the year! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! 😁
I never used my locker in high school… My backpack was a Jansport for the most part with several pockets and it was full to the brim. It was like a rock and I was bent over carrying it.
Jansport bags are the best. They last a long time, definitely worth the money. I even bought one for college when I went and going to use it when I go back.
I dont remember using a backpack in middle or high school but we had lockers.Pasta and meatsauce is my favorite.looks good.Every year at christmas my grandmother would make both chocolate and peanut butter fudge.Sooo good. She would make it the hard old fashioned way where you have to cook it until it thickens and stir it often. She would test it by putting a little in a cup of water and if it formed a ball easily then it was done. Then it got poured in a pan to cool and set.Alot of sugar in it but it was good and went fast.
Hello crazy Middle's thank you so so much for sharing this amazing video I loved seeing the kids backpacks for back to school and the fudge looked like it turned out so good thank you again for sharing I appreciate you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I had the same purple Jansport backpack all four years of high school, and now I’ve had the same The North Face backpack since 2005. lol I guess I’m not as hard on them as I should be. I’ve been waiting for my current backpack to fall apart so that I have an excuse to buy a new one. 😂
Easy fudge- can of sweetened condensed milk, one & 1/2 12 ounce bags of chocolate chips (or flavor of choice) 1 tsp vanilla. melt , mix then chill in a 9x9 pan

I know this one strap is better because it’s prettier and not so bulky on your back, but it actually pulls on your back and makes it curve. I had to find out the hard way if you can prevent it. Use both straps.
We didn't have backpacks in my day. We had cases, or one strap sports bags. My bag was insanely heavy. I walked half an hour each way to school and back. I'd continually have to put it down and switch hands. I have a scoliosis now. It affects my whole body.
I’ve grown up in a country with no lockers at any school and it’s normal to be riding bikes to school and I’ve never heard of anybody breaking their backpack within a year, it’s astounding! Then again parents focus on good brands that aren’t bad on the back especially since we ride bikes with them on for around 30 mins to school. Most in this video don’t seem to have the straps that I’m used to seeing in school kids backpacks, maybe there is some quality difference since they ride a bus or drive by car :0
Down the Shore aka Beach’s in Delaware and NJ, fudge is sold right next to the Salt water taffy 🙌🏻💖😋 We still have a Department store that has a candy counter that sells it too. And Home Goods and TJ Max sell it in bags at the front. But I only make fudge at Christmas 😂
I live in England and at my school you see quite a lot of people with their bags on one shoulder, especially us girls so I understand Addison, I just find it so much comfier and easier.
when I was at school i had same backpack lunch box and pencil pouch for a few years. Teach them to respect there stuff and clean it far to much waste these days
Sounds like your fudge is like homemade caramel chews instead of actual fudge texture. LOL but hey as long as the flavor is good. I made some one time from scratch as a teenager and it never set. But boy was it good on ice cream. Hahaha
genuine question, why do every year you buy a whole new stock of school supplies. backpacks, shoes, stationary etc? I get sometimes things get worn or broken, but i do wonder what you do with the old stuff once you replace it. is it still in usable condition? and where does it go when the kids don't want it anymore? I have had the same lunch box since primary school and i graduated high school over 5 years ago and it still works great! i love your guys' channel and always look out for new videos!
I'm preferably a butter and pasta girl.. though the sauce looked good. Great backpacks. Yum fudge. Been having a bite of fudge every night since I got out of hospital as I got some different flavours for my birthday, ( worst birthday ever) 🥺 can't wait for the next vlog

If you rub a candle on a zipper. The wax makes the zippers move really smoothly. My grandma taught me that!

Great tip thanks!

You can do the same with the tip of a sharpened #2 pencil !

I like the "no thank you serving"! In our house, we call it a "polite bite" ❤

With the matching backpacks, add different key rings to the outside of the pack.
Me and my best friend who are more like sisters did this and still sometimes got mixed up
Can we appreciate how amazing bishops camera shots were in this video!

In South Africa, most of the kids use the school suitcases on wheels. It's much easier to cart your books around and easier on the kids' spines.
that might not work well in most of america as schools are 2 levels

Just fyi Jansport has a lifetime warranty so if they break you can just email them a photo of your backpack and they will let you choose a new one.
So have Eastpak and Northface on certain models.
But, using only one strap will certainly cause earlier damage.
Easy fudge- can of sweetened condensed milk, one & 1/2 12 ounce bags of chocolate chips (or flavor of choice) 1 tsp vanilla. melt , mix then chill in a 9x9 pan

Fudge in Scotland melts in your mouth not meant to be chewy that looks like toffee 😂❤
I do love the authentic fudge as well!
LLBean makes the bigger backpacks also ! They always had different sizes for all ages!
Your family is super funny you should film more often
Oh to have money and have new backpacks just because they’re germy and straps break. And all new school supplies yearly! One could only wish.
The kids are all getting so big! I can't believe they have grown so much!
I love watching your guys videos ❤
I live in England and at my school you see quite a lot of people with their bags on one shoulder, especially us girls so I understand Addison, I just find it so much comfier and easier.
I’m so excited to watch this ❤
Jared- if you cut the bread with it upside down, it slices easier and less like to break on edges :)
My two youngest and myself have garlic noodles (butter noodles) when we make spaghetti 😂 i love that it was mentioned.
That fudge looked like a chocolate caramel. Yummmm would love the recipe please
when I was at school i had same backpack lunch box and pencil pouch for a few years.
I have had the same lunch box since primary school and i graduated high school over 5 years ago and it still works great! i love your guys' channel and always look out for new videos!
can't believe Brinley & Braxton are in middle school already. time flew so fast.
I can't believe some of your kids didn't know what fudge was ! Its my favorite type of candy/dessert...😊
I love the kids happiness I love all the kids relationship❤
I'm preferably a butter and pasta girl.. though the sauce looked good. Great backpacks. Yum fudge. Been having a bite of fudge every night since I got out of hospital as I got some different flavours for my birthday, ( worst birthday ever) 🥺 can't wait for the next vlog
