    Took a load of scrap to the scrap yard not so long ago, 21,000lbs and walked out with $125 CDN. Used to get $600 for a full size truck a few years ago. $92 doesn't seem worth it either.

    I'm down south and white oak brings $1 per board foot for boards. I have sawmill and I make way more on fire wood $100 for pickup truck load most get. I sell half cord oak for $125 or $200 a cord which is a 16 foot utility trailer 2 feet deep or the trailer I have. Magnolia state is my home..

    One of the other firewood you tube people cut 2 oak trees side by side. they were the same species and size. They cut one into firewood and sold it and the other they took to the saw mill. They got 3.5 times more selling it as firewood than as a saw log. I have several acres of oak and hickory that are big but I am not selling them for nothing. I really don't understand why anyone would sell to a saw mill.

    • @WorldsOkayestFarmer

      That’s good info you can get a lot of money from logging and letting someone else do all the work vs what I did I have some new videos to make I just let the Amish cut a huge pile of wood for me I just have to split it and sell it. I also had them clear some land and they cut 60 saw logs that I got a decent amount of money letting mills bid them and cut the smaller stuff into firewood.

    Red and white oak , chestnut oak , poplar , hard maple and ash is where it’s at , in ky it’s up to 4.00$ a board foot white oak , and red oak is up to 2.00$ , ash is 50-60 cents , poplar is 50-70 cents , hard maple is 70-1.40$ then hickory is low right now but still 50 cents a board foot , and so is pulp wood and walnut is 2.00- 10.00 a board foot , I’m glad I’m not wherever you are lol

      Joseph Bennett You sound like you are pretty informed when it comes to prices on various types of trees. I have a question you may be able to help with. Do you know how much I could get out of cedar trees? I probably have around 70 or 80 of them I would like to get rid of of. I don't know if mills would take them or not. Thanks for any info.

    • @josephbennett4442
      @josephbennett4442 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jjustice7429 that I’m not sure on , we don’t have a ton of big cedar here so they dont really have many going in to the mill , I’m good on hardwood species but , cedar is pulp wood pretty much so it prolly isn’t worth a ton , my guess would be anywhere from 0.30-0.60 a board foot , but they may buy it by the ton instead of per board foot , when it comes to pine and cedar I’m not very good on values, and it also depends on what state your in also if there is loggers that deal with cedar or not , I would call a saw mill in your state and ask how much cedar is worth

    Yep, that's why i keep all the cheap logs from the forest and make firewood out of it. I would get paid about 80$ for a cord by the forestry company. if i keep it, make firewood and sell it, it's about 300$. That's a no brainer, i can make about 3-4 cords a day with my machines alone, with two people 4-5, that's between 600-1000$ per day if i make firewood instead of giving it to the sawmill. Even for the higher valuable trees i woul'd get maybe twice the price from the sawmill. That's why some people prefer to make firewood even out of straight long logs and just selling the overhead they can't handle during the season, as they still make more money with firewood than with the sawmill

    My woods have not been cut in the 26 years that we have lived here and they looked to be 60 to 80 years old or more I got 7k for 206 black Oak trees a lot had three and 4 big trunks coming from the stump 26 to 30 inches a cross where they cut. The mess was not worth what I got. If you don't need the money keep the beauty of walking through your woods. 34 dollars a tree is not worth it, I'm left with the tops on the side of a road that I have to straighten up with the ruts from dragging the logs. 7k seems pretty good but when I see what I lost and the mess it's not so good. Then they used my 3 acres that's sesperate from where they cut, it's what I bought later they made a mess of that property and I have to look at the logs until they take them out, it's like there own storage lot.
