      Safest approach i feel to tackle it is to diversify investments. By spreading investments across different asset classes, like bonds, and international stocks, they can reduce the impact of a market meltdown. its important to seek the guidance of an expert

      A good number of people discredit the effectiveness of financial advisors in exploring new markets, but over the past 10years I’ve had a financial advisor consistently restructure and diversify my portfolio/expenses and I’ve made over $1.2m in gains… might not be a lot but i'm financially secure.

    I have a 3 fund portfolio consisting of 33% S&P, 33% Total stock, and 33% international. I feel a need to focus on complete growth so I went 100% stocks, but does the SP500 and TSM overlap too much to make sense holding both? However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait but watching my portfolio of $450k dwindle away is such an eye -sore.

      I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 67% profit in 18 months

    I did it by transitioning from employee only to employee + investor. I was fortunate enough to have low outgoings as an employee as I worked form home in tech sector. All the money that I would have spent on commute costs went into buying value stocks (oil and gas, telecoms, tech). Collected and reinvested all dividends. Now my little fund generates enough to live on comfortably. I still am an employee, but no longer have to put in extra hours or go the extra mile at work, and no longer need to impress the boss. I can switch off from work at 5pm. Next step is to go part time, or reduce to 4 day week. If I was made redundant now, I wouldn't go back to being another full time employee.

    I remember my last year in college I kinda did a company called Primerica. I didn't really make any serious money mostly due to my charge backs. But I learned alot that my family or the classroom never taught me. They were teaching us this cash flow quadrant from Robert K. back in 98'. Having us read Dale Carnegie & Tom Hopkins. Again, I didn't really make any money. But the value of being exposed to people like Zig Ziglar and the great Jim Rohn was priceless. You never know what will be "that thing" that will turn on that lightbulb in your head. That's why I like your content. You're not stale or full of pompous arrogance. As a youth I was drawn in with them bragging about them being the company with the most 6 figure earners.(Not exactly sure who has the most today.) I'm an employee. I make about 75k/year not counting my investments. I will be able to retire at 45 and able to live on $1500/month after all my bills are paid. That's not accounting for my 401k and Roth IRA which should be about 2.5 mil once I hit 60 if I have a 6% interest rate. I have seen many of my friends sink money into theirs businesses and not completely fail but never full make it. Sometimes just being an employee and be thrifty is enough to have a relaxing and comfortable life.

Now we're in our 40s and the labor doesn't come as easy. They spent everything on trucks and toys, and now they wonder what their kids will do. I always tell them they'll do the exact same thing you did - work, live, then struggle later in life.

Teach your children financial responsibility and having "things" will not make them happy and there is no need to leave a "legacy".

    While you may not ever get rich, if you want to live and retire comfortably the best thing you can do is live within or below your means. Buy a Honda instead of an Acura or be happy with your 4 year old iPhone 6 instead of trading up every year to the latest and greatest model for example. Too many people feel they have to fake it before they make it or keep up with the Jonses...

      That's my approach. Retirement hacking. Damn near everything I own is used or out of date. (except my computer...haha, that's where I draw the line.) The hardest part is moving from the S to the B Quadrant and setting up a system and employees to manage the day to day tasks. You have to increase revenue and hire and train your team at the same time.

    Investors and big business owners usually works just as much, if not more, than regular employees. And it is work, not luxury time, and sometimes repetative and boring. The question you have to ask yourself is about what you like doing and what you find meaningful, something you can find in all four quadrants of this very simplified view of worklife. And it´s not that clear cut between the quadrants. Sometimes you can be a bit of everything, many jobs have a lot of freedom and many investors are slaves to their investments.

    Once you make a good amount of money, it's incredibly easy to grow wealth. The struggle is getting to that point. Buy a crappy property in a market that's growing insanely fast, sell, then invest in less extreme, but smart situations

      @cmik26 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I was about to post the same comment! Once I "succeeded" and achieved wealth, I realized how quickly wealth perpetuates more wealth. Excluding those who make poor decisions or are greedy, it's very easy to continue to grow wealth once wealth is achieved.

      those returns of 20% are not accessible to people watching TH-cam

    Interesting. I am in the paid sector but have started investing with my free money. I have worked up to management where I can save my time by allocating others to do jobs I once did. It's helpful as I have freedom to work on personal self employment in my free time. I am also working on a TH-cam channel which may possibly make me passive income in the future. In a way, I am invested in all four "squares." One thing I would mention is avoid DEBT. Wish I did that earlier. I have paid much off and am starting to see more returns, but it sets you back on your time invested a lot. In the end, we all want wealth for security, our wants, and our own personal time.Good video.

    Quick comment on business Tax “write offs”: I’m not a CPA either, but I’m pretty sure the examples(camera, markers, car payments, etc.) you used for expenses that can lower your tax burden are not eligible expenses. Markers, cameras, and cars are all examples of capital expenditures, assuming you purchase these assets, not lease them. You CAN however “write off” the depreciation of the assets. If you leased the car, you can expense the lease payments, which is why leasing is preferred for some companies.

    • @WhiteBoardFinance
      @WhiteBoardFinance  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed on leasing the car. And I do believe Capex is deductible but again, I'm not a cpa
