I love your point about certain life decisions being time-limited. Hardly anyone talks about that. Starting a family is an important one. Ideally you want to do this while young, but people keep pushing it later and later.
yeah I feel like his argument should have revolved more around moderation since if all you do is work your going to end up miserable and smoking or drinking every once in a while isn't a bad thing
I’m sorry, but I see nothing wrong with sitting down and watching an hour of a movie or tv show at the end of the day whilst eating dinner, after I’ve been at work all day and just come home from a tough workout. That’s how I wind down.
Agreed man. After an exhausting evening workout, I'm not as productive when trying to work on productivity related tasks. In fact, it's probably one of the better times to watch your TV show or play your video game to decompress and wind down from the day.
Social media is my worst enemy lol. Dr swole, you are a really nice guy. Thanks for the wake up call. We really have limited time left. Sense of urgency is that one thing I take away from your video. 🙌
the best way to be successful is to find you own path that works for you, what works for everyone or yourself may not work for you, so take what you need and grow friends, he may use “I’m a dcotor” that’s great and im super proud of you, im going for therapy and it says if we have a HEALTHY mind then our image of life will change, we are all different, stop fitting society standard and do what you need to do for you to be great ❤️❤️
I know you have documented your shows, I'd be interested in a run down of show prep from signing up to your first show to getting your pro card, if that's a video idea that you'd be interested in making some time. I would like to compete in future 😄
Perhaps you may feel the sigma grindset mentality is the be-all and end-all of achieving what you define as "success", but life is a lot more nuanced than that. If even watching some tv/Netflix is considered a waste of time, then I'd really question your motivations of achieving "success". You need to re-evaluate if you're doing all this for the sake of obtaining validation from others (be it getting admiration for getting into med school, getting a high paying job, etc.), or for yourself. As with all things in life, balance is key.
You generally seem like a decent guy, and I agree with 99% of your comments in this video but I'm really tired of self-improvement pundits always telling people to cut negative people out of your life. These could be people who are struggling with all kinds of issues: be it mental, physical, emotional, family or financial issues and who lack support or are in pain. We are going to wind up with a generation of totally self-absorbed guys going all out on self optimisation who have no mental bandwidth for others who don't fully buy into the ultra-individualistic vision of one's personal greatness and ability to emulate people like Musk (who seems to be a fairly lousy person in many regards). All I'm saying is leaning too far into this mindset is corrosive towards having compassion towards others who may not share our advantages in life.
Ill admit it i do gaming cause its apart of my content here. But, aside of working and kids. I at times if restless i go to the gym spend a few hours there and then wind down at home or be asleep within an hour at most. I dont game as much as i used to which was about at most back then about 4hrs. Now its been at most about 2hrs. I do a lot of cardio, and some muscle building and strengthen my core than anything lately for the past year. Im korean bout 6ft almost 200lbs. Lost 15lbs of fat and gained around 40lbs of muscle. But gained a bit of fat due to being injured but back at it and lost 5lbs of fat within the past few months of doing a lot of cardio which i do to also combat the high bp which has gone down a lot within a good solid yr
Out of interest, what was your lifting routine like throughout medical school? I'm studying medicine in the UK at the moment. I generally find that I'm able to stick to a 4-5 day a week split most of the time, but I often feel the need to stop for 2-3 weeks in the lead up to exams. How did you find it?
Yo dr swole im running your ppl x ul and you have put lateral raises and curls on leg days and also put calf raises on upper body days. Does that mean i need to warmup multiple times since im hitting multiple different muscles at once?
Expect to see “anything in moderation is fine” type of comments. 99% people have no tolerance for extreme productivity to achieve great feats like building a business, taking care of the terminally ill. Working two three jobs to feed the family. Studying 16 hours a day to pass a college entrance exam or 16 hours of piano practice to compete at the top level. Great content.
I wouldn't want to do that anyways. I'd rather have a moderate amount of success and finances (as long as im not struggling/can afford to take care of loved ones) than to have a an objectively high amount of money/"success" but never being able to enjoy myself. I feel like theres more to life than just working yourself to death. While i don't 100% disagree with the video he seems to talks about the opportunity cost of doing these things, but isn't there a certain point where there is also an opportunity cost of sacrificing your ability to relax in favor of the eternal grind? I feel that could maybe be looked at as just as negative as at least a few of the things on this list

I understand your point about opportunity cost. but i also think it's important to allow yourself to just turn off for a moment.

Everyone has a subjective perspective on what makes a good life so I agree that some of these aren't bad to include in some amount!
Agreed

I wonder why used ‘habits’ and not ‘vices’

I can do all those things. But what next?

How to quit porn
No Pr0n and substances = No Life
If you’re a loser. That’s a superficial life
I would disagree... Ultimately, you'll get far more fulfilment from orienting your satisfaction from purpose rather than p*rn or substances
Also u seem like a bot dude. Kinda npc...i don't like ur vibe
Cringe af
