How though? They are completely different instruments. The trumpet is a brass instrument. And the alto saxophone is a woodwind instrument that's made of brass. Despite being made of brass, the sound waves of the alto saxophone are more similar to those of a clarinet, as they both have single reeds and conventional woodwind finger keys.
As a sax player, I would say the Trumpet won. Clearer phrases, better consciousness and better sound. Not to say the saxophone was bad, but I think lacks some control, and a little bit too bright mouthpiece/reed combination.
The thing is, me as a trumpet player, i think the trumpet is harder to play than the saxophone, because with the trumpet you actually have to control the position of your lips, and it's just more tiring to play overall. with the saxophone you just have to press the many keys you have and blow into it, does not require a high skill level, just have remember your buttons.
It seems to me that u are a trumpet player and not a sax. The alto sax actually needs more skill than just memorizing keys. It matters if you let your mouth droop low, or if you tighten it, and it matters if you let it squeak or whatever. And there isn't just 3 keys like the trumpet there is a little over 20 on the alto and every one of them cooperates with the tune. Edit: and the sax is very tiring cause of how much air you have to blow into it and how fast.
You are right. But just because the trumpet has only 3 keys, it doesn't mean the fingerings are easy to learn; it can get very confusing because you need to use only 3 keys to play a bunch of notes, the fingering for some notes are going to be the same, which can be quite confusing. Your embrocher(your lip positioning) is important too; if you want to play a higher note you will need to close your lips more. If you want a lower note, you need to open your lips more. I found it quite difficult to learn, and without the right lip positioning, you won't be able to play the higher notes with good sound quality. This also means that trumpet can be quite tiring, was you said with alto saxophones. Your lips will also hurt after playing trumpet for a while due to all the vibration.
Rizzar I play both When it comes to tiring the trumpet is 10 times more tiring Both are great instruments and its so hard to pick which one i like more
The saxophone has the ability to express much more emotion and soul that you just can't do with the trumpet because of how it's made.. which makes the saxophone very tasteful. The trumpet just can't express emotion as fluently.
You are so wrong! Trumpet is much more soulful! The sound is actually produced by the most loving part of the human body - the lips! Trumpet is simply much harder to play! 🙂
@@music_field Naaah, sax keyboard along with embouchure changes just has so much more capability. Trumpet does have a distinct great sound, just not as versatile.
I'm a saxophonist and I know music isn't about competition but the trumpet player did way better and the sax player sounded very sporadic/repetitive and sounded like he was trying to show off and he started playing a bunch of nonsense and it sounded very funny lol but he'll learn over time.
Tbh its like a rock paper scissors battle, saxophones can definetely do more articulation and cool jazz better than trumpets. Our 3 valves can only take us so far.
i was trying to learn how to distinguish between sax and trumpet and this video helps a lot, thanks
Same here 😂

more like duel. duet when they're playing both together one harmony, one melody, one supports the other.

I agree 100% and I also play alto sax because the growl was nice but nun of his rubs were clean
I agree 100% because I play trumpet 😊
I 100% disagree, and I am an alto player. That’s the whole idea of jazz, is too mix up different tones and spike the notes
I play trumpet but man that sax was good but they both did great good job guys
I play sax

Johnny Is super at a high enough skill level you will have to learn to do different notes using the same fingerings on sax(altissimo)
Rizzar
I play both

Both are great instruments and its so hard to pick which one i like more
they both are hard in their own ways, im a trumpet player and i know that both instruments have Embouchure esk skills required to play profeiciently
Can't pick a winner. They were both very good
The guys are really good O_O
Good work guys!
I think this is my favorite thing on TH-cam!

Aiden Graves Agreed
I like your play.
More from your as you are able ours Hearts.
That sax sure loves the Bb blues scale
I like how on the saxophone you basically turn into a frog when you play it, cause you know how your neck fattens up for a clear sound
Trumpet is excellent but there is just one con… the trumpet is not a saxophone😎
at 0:29 tho bwahahaha that would be me

I agree, it has a very flat sound. The saxophone gives such a rasp that sounds like someone is singing.
Ehh

That sounded absolutely horrible, that is literally the worst saxophone solo I've ever heard.
