LYRICS
Won’t see it when you’re looking at me, I’m stuck in the life between my dreams
Black curtains springing little leaks of sun, I feel the nothing I’ve become
The question I’m asking, please don’t be answering, Is this where I’m supposed to be
I’ll let it be the best I can, It doesn’t mean I understand
nah nah nah… Let it happen
nah nah nah… Let it happen
This sleeping pill was never enough, now on my flight I’ve woken up
Above the clouds and beneath the sea, that’s where I hit reality
I’ll give into infinity, I’ll let it be memory, if this is how it’s supposed to be
I’ll let it be the best I can, it doesn’t mean I understand
nah nah nah… Let it happen
nah nah nah… Let it happen
nah nah nah… Let it happen
nah nah nah… Let it happen
Everything will be, Let it happen
Let it, let it happen

I've said it before, but whoever taught this cat how to arrange for strings deserves an Olympic medal.
and the cat himself-genius....
One cat, many faces.
Actually string players dig playing these types of lines/figures. Long sustained notes are the things that bore them to no end. 😊
I’m sure the low brass also appreciate Cole’s writing because they are so often relegated to playing static pedal points. This whole album is such a delight and each track reveals the care and skill taken. One of the bright spots of 2024.
Thank you Louis for your artistry. :)
could someone please elaborate on this more? im curious what's the difference between bad and good string arrangement
@@TouchField strings actually aren’t too hard to write for. They balance themselves. Voice leading is still important to get a nice sound of course and contrapuntal movement always sounds really good. Strong divisi writing can be very effective- this is when a composer sub divides the parts within each string group- ie violins have multiple lines, viola and celli. The more you subdivide each string part however, the less powerful the line is as you have less players dedicated to each line.
Man I love Sam Wilkes on the bass. He just lays it all down on the table every single damn time. Every single note. It’s amazing.
So much greatness from him.
The man is Bass
Let it happen is one of my favourite songs ever. Now having a third version of this song feels like a birthday, Easter, your own marriage, the birth of your first child and Christmas all at the same time.
Thank you a lot Mr. Cole, hope you are doing well
I only know this version and the original? There’s a third??
@@Adamparson there's an early version released on an album of stuff that didn't make the cut on Quality Over Opinion. Can't remember the name of the "album" but palmdale cruising is a highlight
@@Adamparson There is the “main“ one in Quality over opinion, then the old version which is on his Album “Some Unused Songs“ from last year and now this masterpiece. All three versions are outstanding
FEEL you on that.
I’m also a huge fan of this song! I still remembers the chills I got listening to it the day it released, it’s my absolute favorite song Louis has ever made. This is a lower quality recording but here’s the first ever performance of the song, uniquely features a 4-5 minute long orchestral Disney’esque intro: th-cam.com/video/ZhkMy-y2SHc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ER4bFLc0VdeKTEJY I was really hoping this new orchestral version would feature it but it seems like it will forever only exist in this recording.
This is what the internet is supposed to be for.
Truer words that I need to hear❤
The final part of this song is one of the most beautiful things ever written.
let it happen came out during a pretty difficult time in my life, so hearing it like this, especially considering where i am now, feels like bringing it back around full circle.
chills throughout, you've outdone yourself.
Same!
Having a difficult time tonight. Saying goodbye to an old friend
@@allinthemind2006 wishing you well, and sending my deepest condolences
@@woegarden thank you so much
@@allinthemind2006 of course, thank you for sharing that with me, may they rest peacefully 🙏
Orchestra: how many modulations shall we do at the end?
Louis Cole: yes
Really really hope Louis feels better soon and the gigs go ahead
Is he unwell?
@@displaychicken yeah ☹️ something to do with his nervous system apparently
when i first heard LC experimenting with the extreme falsetto voice i doubted him... fast forward a few years, and hes one of the greatest who ever used it. Lesson: never doubt LC
People will really be looking back on Louis Cole and Knower as one of the greats of our time, so glad to be here to witness it now.
and thanks the Lady from Google who forced them to buy TH-cam and make it what it is, the last and best place now to get to know music that was otherwise hidden.
Hit that goddamn high note like a fuckin princess
I hope this was as emotional of a moment for Cole and the musicians as it was for me. This song just hits right and the lyrics speak to me.
That's what gets me. How many of them knew how important it was by the time it was over? Watching some of the artists in previous videos tells me that they did.
Just so incredible. I don't know what to say. When those strings come in.... look I'm 57 and you're making me cry and I don't know why. One of the most gorgeous things I've ever heard. This feels like the culmination of everything I've ever listened to. I have no idea why this music is not on everyone's playlist. It's like Morricone, McCartney, Bacharach and Nelson Riddle all got together and said, "We must have one good collaboration between us in us...let's get Louis and the gang to perform it for us."
Hell yea man! (38 guy here lol)
He (Louis Cole and Genevieve Artadi) should write the next James Bond title song and finally get the recognition they deserve.
@@fernsehdesign OMGGGGG he woud slay it.
Hell yeah man I'm a 41 y/o classically trained pianist and general melomaniac and Louis is one of the best things I've heard, and believe me there's some BIG names in that list. I love that he doesn't compromise tenderness and emotion. I mean when he makes a ballad, he makes a f***ng ballad, you know? He won't compromise the emotional component for a fear of being corny, and that's alright, because he can't be corny on account of being a damned genius. Simple, complex, cheeky, tear inducing, he can do it all
Exactly correct.
With a genius of Cole's caliber, it doesn't make sense to limit the palette to standard funk instrumentation. It would be like forcing Raphael to only paint with red, green, and blue.
I love on 4:21 the joy on the violinist's face, enjoying the universe around her. Such a joy.
I loved it when I saw it, especially because in other tracks of the album you can see her being so focused playing the violin, and seeing her enjoy so much what's happening around her on this track warms my heart.
I'm cryin...this song.
Thanks you.
yep
Let It Happen reached its peak. Life feels more colorful than ever before.
Thank you Louis Cole.
The writing. The arrangement. The performance. The mix. And then the visual component... Do we even deserve this? It's way off the fucking mark. Thank you, LC.
This so beautiful it literally made me cry. Thank you Louis.
loved this when it released, It looks like the band is really enjoying playing it too! Thank you Mr Cole.
absolutely incredible, emotional orchestral evolution
Thanks Louis for your existence on this earth
What a beautiful piece ! Louis Cole is amazing.
Flexing 50 BPM ... exactly the same number of stars out of five the song gets.

THIS is SO good. thanks louis
it all makes sense now
This song ego deaths me every time :)
everytime i hear the strings in the end section, it's like i got hit by a nuclear emotion bomb
Louis Cole is one of only a couple current writers bringing a real and deeply spiritual message, but you could easily never notice it and teh music is still beautiful and uplifting in the simplest of ways. The only other i can think of is MkGee but he is younger and has a more youthful vibe
It always makes me cry 😭, so beautiful
gets me every time
incredible
Louis Cole is the dreamiest 🤩
