Try the movie The Raven with Vincent Price, as the good wizard, Boris Karloff as the bad wizard and Peter Lorre as the duplicitous wizard that is turned into The Raven, with Peter's son played by a quite young Jack Nicholson.
OK so it has little to with Edgar Alan Poe's poem, though it is recited by Vincent, but it does have a wizard duel at the end. Much of the acting by Nicholson and Lorre was improvised and the two of them winging it was pissing off Karloff.

1900-1918, no internet, so unless you were in the military and stationed overseas or were very rich so could afford international travel for weeks to months on a ship there was practically 0 chance to see a real Chinese man. Sure, some did live in larger cities as migrant workers but back then most people lived in the middle of nowhere since cities were dirty, smelly places most people avoided if they could do so (horse manure and carcasses everywhere as well as smog and coal smoke).

    G'day,
    Yay Team !
    Thanks for posting this.
I saw a version of that "Bulletproof" trick done in the Tent of a Magician at the Glen Innes Agricultural Society's Annual Show, in about 1972...
It featured the Magician's female Assistant standing between two Dinner-Plates held up vertically on metal Stands, one in front & one behind her....
The Gun was a .22 Rifle, a Pump-action Repeater with a Tubular Magazine under it's Barrel..., and the Brass Case of the Bullet was marked with Ink by an Audience-Member before being loaded into the Rifle.
When it fired, both Plates broke simultaneously while the Assistant between them was unharmed, and the Projectile was supposed to have passed harmlessly through her..., and afterward the Audience member udentified their mark on the fired Cartridge.
One surmises that the underslung Tube-Magazine may have fired a Blank Cartridge featuring a Wax Bullet - which broke the front Plate, while the metal Stand holding the rear Plate "must have" been tricked up to smash the second plate while everybody was fixatedly gazing at the bare abdomen of the Assistant.
Presumably the Magician palmed the marked Cartridge and duplicated the mark on a fired Case - via prestidigitation while the Audience's attention was misdirected onto the assistant...?
Or, the Ammunition may have simply featured a Grey Wax Bullet masquerading as Lead & fired through an unmodified Weapon - with the Audience-member being a "Dummy/Ring-In"...?
Years later I heard that the same bloke accidentally shot the Assistant on stage, when an Audience-Member cunningly palmed the Cartridge they were asked to mark & replaced it with a regular .22 Cartridge from their own pocket - and marked the regular one before passing it back to the complacent "Magican".
Under modern Gun Laws, it's probably illegal to attempt to perform the trick...?
    Such is Life.
    Have a good one...
    Stay safe.
    ;-p
    Ciao !

There was a secret compartment in the gun the bullet was suppose to drop into, there was no slight of hand in loading. He was so secretive about the gun he wouldn't let anyone see or service it and it was said to work perfectly, only needed to be cleaned.
It's a shame. He's shows we're said to be beautiful.

"Chain firing" was (is) always a concern with multi-round black powder (pre-metallic cartridge) guns. This is when the burn from the intended fired charge, flashes over and fires one, or more, of the other loaded chambers, at the same time. So this trick could be done with any revolver, both modern metallic cartridge types, or older style percussion cap. Just make sure the chamber with the "live" round is NOT the one that gets fired, and all other chambers filled with blanks. Using a percussion cap revolver was (is) not a good idea !
