I just left Singapore after 14 years and have moved to Thailand. Same problem, my landlord increased my rent by 75% in 1 year. I have a friend where the landlord asked for a 100% increase in 1 year. I can no longer stay in Singapore and probably will give up my permanent residency (or they’ll cancel it as it’s not really permanent).
Really sad you're moving away but happy that you're doing something you always want to do; moving to Bali . Still, hopefully you will come back soon to SG.

I know Bali always be undenieable for everyone because we can see all fantastic beaches and places, good people and culture, pure nature and many more. It's not expensive to live there. Honestly so happy you’re leaving as Bali is definitely less stressful. We are currently having a rent surge crisis due to many factors one being influx of foreigners too. Life as a local gets harder once everything is accounted for. I feel like my future is bleak in my country.
Wouldn‘t Malaysia be a more suitable choice? I have not been there but it should be almost as developed as Singapore (from what I hear). And Johor Bahru is „just around the corner“.
