  • Hello and welcome aboard this Delta 717-200 as I fly north to Minneapolis St. Paul International.
Just a quick take off video for you all today. The short domestic flight wasn't worth the trip report so I thought I'd upload both the takeoff and departure separately.
Loved the flight though. My only gripe was my 6ft 3 frame was really cramped stuck in the back of the plane but that engine sound really made up for it!
This was the connecting flight onto an international flight to Amsterdam later that day.

Wonderful video! As the 717 was drawn up by McDonnell Douglas, did it feel like some other MD aircraft?

Thankyou! And you're right, the two aircraft are very similar in engine noise and cabin. i often find myself forget which type I'm in when looking out of the window. Still it'll be a shame when the super 80's are phased out :/

I logged over 5,000 as flight crew on the McDonnell Douglas DC-9-30. Every new variation was a great improvement. She was a workhorse. And yes, they sounded very much alike. Noise abatement standards forced Pratt-Whitney to continue to improve their engines as well. Boeing claimed the fame for the 717 but it was designed by McDonnell Douglas before the buyout.
