I grew up in the early 90s, pre Mario 64 and this sounds a bit like the mario from back then. I do wonder why they didn’t go for his more iconic voice though. Maybe hearing that much “waahooo! Yippeee!” Would get old fast? I dunno 🤷♂

I love that the Nintendo NY livestream events are back, it’s fun to see the fans reactions And regarding the movie, I think the voice of Bowser and the lot are great but still sorta mixed with Chris Pratt, though I feel it’s not disastrous at all. Visuals are amazing tho

Just basing off Marios reaction after the pipe entrance its pretty clear its going to be an Isekai type movie. Where Chris's prat intro to "I always wanted to be apart of mushroom kingdom." is us watching some normal plumbing guy get transported into his favorite game lol
I think you got the isekai part right but I think it's gonna be Mario and Luigi working as Normal Plumbers (Or construction workers since Spike was announced to be in the movie)then they find a weird pipe and get transported to the mushroom kingdom. Meanwhile Bowser is collecting power stars and in the process kidnaps Peach to get her to tell him the location of said stars but he ends up falling in love with her.

Just by this trailer it looks like this is going to be a very high quality movie with lots of effort put into it I'm definitely planning to watch this in theaters with my older bro. We used to grow up playing Super Mario on the Super Nintendo and the N64 with my much older siblings. I remember being about five or six years old and they introduced us to video games for the first time. Super Mario World was one of the very first games I ever played and my brother and I to this day still enjoy Super Mario as a franchise and we're really looking forward to checking out this movie. WAHOO!🍄

I agree with you. Chris Pratt's voice fits Mario. Charles is good and iconic but I feel he's only good for snippets and sound bites. You can hear the Brooklyn accent in Mario's voice and it fits because Mario is originally a plumber from Brooklyn who accidentally finds a warp pipe to Mushroom Kingdom.

As an Australian, I actually can tell the difference. Its very likely that the New York crowd aren't too excited about the accent since it just sounds like one of the locals. For a movie script, I would definitely prefer this over stereotypical Italian-English. Much easier on the ears and down to earth.
Can't really blame Nintendo for having a different voice for Mario honestly. The last time they had Charles Martinet speaking full sentences as Mario in that ad for the 3DS people were saying it was really uncanny and offputting to hear, so naturally they take fan reaction into consideration when we're gonna be hearing Mario talking in full sentences in a 1h 30m movie.

I’ve always had a feeling people where gonna be more excited for bowser (voice wise) I think jack was a perfect pick for bowser and even I got really hyped when I heard he was voicing him. But when I heard Chris was voicing Mario I just couldn’t quite see how that was gonna work out. It seems like he tried to do the “accent” but very subtle because we all know it would be cringe if he actually did try lol. But overall I’m still hyped for this.
