The App is very good. I love the ability to ramp the lights up and down, but it definitely needs a setting for total darkness between the sunset and sunrise period. Also, it would be so great if there was a description for each light channel and how each will effect coral growth.
Does the light remember my settings or do I need the app open always.my lights usually come on when I'm.at work,I've saved some settings on my phone but I have my phone with me at work.if plugged in does the light switch on itself at the time I set on the app?I haven't set my light up yet because of this issue.its a great looking light👍👍👍
You only need to set the light up once! After that, the light will run on its own, turning on and off when you set it to do so. You don't need to be anywhere near the tank for the light to work. 👍 Please note that in the event of a power outage you will need to reconnect to the light in order to re-establish the correct time.

Hi Evan, we build the flexibility into the Fluval Smart App to allow the end user to adjust and customize the settings they prefer based on their set up. Different aquariums are set up with different colors and shades of substrate as well as decor, this reflects more or less light back changing how a preset will appear. The presets are limited based on those same factors, given the recent update there is much well received feedback on how useful the Fluval Smart App is allowing the end user to make the most of these lighting systems.
Hi there! The Marine Nano LED is designed for small aquariums, up to about 60 L. We recommend one of our strip LEDs for your tank: fluvalaquatics.com/us/shop/product/marine-3-0
Is there a blue tooth device associated with a PC, Labtop or other gadget that would serve as a controller to avoid using the set-up process on a company smartphone? Thank you.
Windows 10 with a laptop that has bluetooth might work if the app can be configured accordingly. We will add this to our possible future app update list.
Hi Andrea! After a power outage, the app and LED will restart at midnight. Connecting to the light via the FluvalSmart app will re-establish the correct time!
Any advancement on the night time shut off mode? Folk have been asking for months about this. The option to have just blue lights on in the evening plus zero lights for during the night would be good. Surely this is not good for the tank to have lights on all the time?
I’ve had these lights for about 3 months and just now playing around with the settings. I used pro mode to program my lights and its great, but and the end of day when I turn everything down to zero for sleep there is still a mild blue light. I have no idea how to get ride of it or just be able to program for it to shut down.
Will the app incorporate settings similar to the Aquasky lamp? (Weather effects, cloudy day etc)? One of the nice things about my Fresh and Plant 2.0 is that the wi-Fi controller allows cloud cover at the flick of a (virtual) switch. I am hoping to get the 3.0 when it is finally available in England, and I’d really like the cloud? Also, is there a recommended setup to enable this light to replicate deep shadows for an Amazon biotope ( to enhance “Blackwater” look )
Mark, here is the link to the 3.0 Plant LED we recently posted: th-cam.com/video/Mxea_y54aTM/w-d-xo.html Yes the app for the 3.0 does incorporate similar settings but not dynamic effects (ie weather effects).
The 91cm - 122cm model is also listed in inches as 36 - 48 inches. So is the minimum length 91cms or 36 inches (my tank width external measurement is just a couple of millimetres over 91cms but a couple of millimetres less than 36 inches). Also do you know the length of the electrical cable from the light fitting itself excluding the transformer cable, plus also what is the length of the electrical cable from the transformer to a power supply?
The length range is listed as per standard aquarium lengths, the measurement includes the integrated brackets, it will fit your 91 cm long aquarium. The length of the power cord is minimum from fixture to transformer is 95 in. (241.3 cm.) and the length of same from transformer to plug is 76.25 in. (193.67 cm.). If you mean "transformer cable" as that portion of the power cord that is affixed to the transformer, the length of that cable is: 18.5 in (46.99 cm.), therefore you may deduct it from the aforementioned measurement if you wish.
When I pick 1 of the 3 Presets I don’t have the red Export button to click only a gray Remove or red Cancel Export. Same problem on IPhone 14 and IPad. Any suggestions please?
Hi there! Is it possible the preset that you can't export is the one already in use? If not, please send an email to FluvalSmart@FluvalAquatics.com, our app team will be happy to help you.
How do you program or can you even program your light to turn off and on with your 24 hr setting?? Like after it runs 730am is sun rise n sunset is 7-9 is moon light after the house or two of moon light can I set it to shut off for the night and turn on at 730 n start the day???
Hi Joe, yes! All of those time periods are fully customizable - you can choose when the light turns on and off, how long it takes to turn on and off, how long the moon period lasts for, etc.
Hey im having a bit of trouble with my corals, I am unsure if I am giving them too much or too little light. Currently I only run the blue leds at 100% intensity during the daytime. I like the color effect i get with the blues. Should I be running all led colors simultaneously at 100% to get best results?
Fernando, while blue is photosynthetically the most important part of the spectrum for most corals, the proportion of other wavelengths of light typically vary in relation to the depth a particular species or coral is found at. We recommend starting with a typical photoperiod of sunrise and sunset of approximately 1 hr. each with greater emphasis on blue, with the daylight segment of 6 to 8 hrs. incorporating more of a full spectrum. We also advise investigating the origins and species of corals you are keeping and trying to mimic the type of lighting they grew under before you purchased them.
Just installed this light on my Evo 5, and I need to know if you make a bracket that is a little longer longitudinal? It almost makes it to the middle.
Hi there! The lighting at night is very low - usually only 5% blue - which has no real effect on the fish or corals. Furthermore, since this video, we've implemented the Sleep time period, which allows for both evening lighting and total darkness overnight! 👍
Hi Mark, The Marine 3.0 LED's are waterproof and should not have a build up of condensation under the LED lens. If you are experiencing this with your LED, please contact our customer service team for some support. fluvalaquatics.com/us/contact-us/
Hi, unboxed my lamp tonight, wired up, plugged in and downloaded app fine, however purple and white leds not coming on? is this a programming fault (ive tried manual and still no joy) or a lamp fault??
Jonathan, if you turn the white leds up to 100% and you do not see a very strong light output that would seem to be the light as the app shows and you have connected to the mobile device. To be sure before having to seek replacement, we would recommend trying it with another mobile device.
i would like to know before i purchase the Fluval Marine & sea Spectrum LED 59w length: 122-147 cm extendable if it will be good for my 5 foot 150cm reef aquarium im consider about the light will cover the entire aquarium with no dark spot in the corners of the aquarium and if he will support grow to the coral and the coralline algae i hope to have a respond soon thank you again
Any Specifications on light intensity compared to 2.0 version? What types of corals is this light suitable for, is it in the soft/ low light LPS catagory, or did you make the leap to SPS sustainable lighting?
Anthony, we are finalizing some additional specs at the current time. You will find current existing information posted on the USA fluvalaquatics site. The PAR values are higher vs the 2.0 at 3 to 6 inches, deeper than that they are similar. SPS if it has been raised under T5HO lighting in frag tanks and you are using the 3.0's on a relatively shallow tank they should be fine. In terms of spectrum clearly the 3.0 generation delivers, from our initial use tests plants and corals respond really well.
Fluval Aquatics Hi, my aquarium has 38 liters (30 real liters of water with sand and rocks). I would like to put: -Zoanthus, Xenia, Actinodiscus, Rodhactis, Palythoa and Pachyclavularia. Thanks for helping
Mikel, thanks for reaching out. Given that you are setting up a small tank we need to recommend that you reduce your list of target corals, too much in our opinion. Stick with the Zoanthus, Actinodiscus, Rodhactis and Palythoa (avoid sun coral re the feeding issues in only 30L of water...due to challenges of maintaining water quality) they will spread and should all do well under the lighting you have purchased. The Xenia in a tank this size would likely spread too much, too limited an area for them. Make sure there is good water movement, your skimmer is operating optimally at all times and perform weekly partial water changes of approximately 25%. Enjoy!
Fluval Aquatics Thank you very much for the recommendation. So, for those corals, what configuration of light do you recommend? Of the three predetermined which would be the best for my aquarium?
Mikel, start with color boost and see how the corals respond. Feel free to experiment and try the other presets and of course, you may save your own settings if you wish. Different aquariums containing corals that have been raised under different lighting is the reason you need control flexibility, don't hesitate to trial other options.
@Fluval I have a question about the moon setings. Will you enable a real moon cycle t the settings? I have a light with moon cycle and my fishes and corals spawn regulary (for example the Halichoeres always on full moon). I don't want to miss this feature for the fishes and I know that only 50% of the LED lights have this feature, but it would be great. Otherwise I have to buy new chinese "Bierkisten" :(
@@fluval I mean the moonlight follows the lunar cycle, full moon, half moon and new moon. In fact we have a light with season light for day, so in summer we have long daylight cycle and in winter the opposite. Same with lunar cycle. For our big tank we would prefer the light of Fluval (our smallest tank has a Fluval Marine 1.0 on top). Our fishes and corals spawn on full moon so we want to have a light with lunar cycle. I hope I explained it understandable, my english isn't the best
Ah okay, we understand! An update to the app is on its way, which will allow for enhanced user control and customization of the light spectrum. As such, you'd be able to make the light at night brighter/dimmer, and stay on for less/more time.
Fluval Aquatics where are you at with this update? It cant possibly be that hard to add a lunar and solar calendar. How about a cloudy option so the lights vary in intensity during the day? Seems like you all talk a big game about “new and exciting updates” but have made just one.
Will the same app work to program multiple lights, including different light types? For instance if I have both a fluval plant light on one tank and a fluval marine on another tank?
No the main question is. Everybody wants the blue light on for a certain time then all lights out at night. The app needs light control on all four settings instead of two. I would advise all potential buyers too be aware of that fact. I am sure a simple upgrade too the app would make this light perfect and fully adjustable too suit everybody's needs for their aquarium. I hope fluval take this constructive criticism and make the improvements too the app. I look forward to a reply.
I agree it would be nice to have a separate on and off time for night mode, I hope the device has enough internal memory to store that. The other thing to add is a password, so your neighbors can,t play with your lights and change the settings. The range of the Bluetooth is quite far.

Hi ... Is this a good light for bubble tip anemones? (60gallon deep cube tank) If so, what should I put the intensity on if daylight is from 9a-5p?-And also the night ... I’ve searched google and it’s not helpful...looked like my anemone is losing its color-this is day 2. Current settings = sunrise 7a-9a | daylight 9a-5p 100% on all | sunset 5p-3p | night 7p-10p 5% blue ... Please help, Thank you! (Fluval Sea 25 000 K 32 watts 24-34” Marine)
Hi Sonayah, good question and we appreciate the information, yes it certainly is, for a 60 gallon you would likely have to use at least two appropriately sized Marine 3.0 strip lights. We would recommend 100% intensity (bubble tips require strong light levels) for the daylight period in your aquarium, what are the dimensions? Being IP67 rated means that you can locate strip lights to within an inch or two above the water surface without concern, just clean the lens regularly to avoid any salt accumulation as that would seriously impeded light transmission (note, we do sell suspension kits to allow for an aesthetic set up while facilitating proximity to the water surface). The live rock structure should reach upwards in some sections to allow a bubble tip the ability to move upwards close to the light if it desires higher light levels, bubble tips do like to move around on rock structure to find the water movement and light level they prefer.
There has been an app update, if you are experiencing issues please contact fluvalsmart@fluvalaquatics.com and make sure to provide your exact model of light unit, the mobile device you are using and its' operating system and version.
The app will recognize each light individually, we have connected up to 50 units. To send a program to another light you would export it from the app to the light unit you have connected to.
Joseph, the bluetooth chip is in the light, if the settings are the same in each light they will operate as one light unit. The clock function is updated by your mobile device.
@@fluval hello, i have the same problem, bluetooth and location are on, try 3 differents phones and 2 tablets , android and ios, and they do not find the light
Hello, I finally made it work, this is what I did: Leave the unit with the touch-switch green light on, then I unplug the lamp, then reconnected it and now all the devices recognize the lamp through the application.
My experience with this light and Customer Service associated has been nothing short of a nightmare. After downloading the App I began trying to sync it with the light. The lights started to act erratically, blinking, coming off and on and sometimes not coming on at all. I finally found the customer service number which was buried deep in the multi language instruction sheet. I dialed the number for consumer assistance and was placed on a 45 minute hold. I hung up and redialed which led to another 30 minute wait. On the third attempt I contacted the Dealer Assistance Number. I was told someone would contact me by the “end of day”. I did receive a return call but was told they did not have time to talk and they wanted me to make an appointment for the following day. We scheduled a 10AM call back. I am a busy Doctor but I instructed my office to back up my appointments so I could take the scheduled call. Never came. About 45 minutes later my staff told me someone was on the line to help. The Rep programmed the times of the four different day features even though the lights were still acting erratically. He said he was confidant it would “eventually work”. Unsurprisingly no. I called back the following day and had a different Rep. She had me change the settings which seemed strange but I agreed. Prior to hanging up she told me to turn the light off and reloading the App. At this point the light failed to totally respond. The next day I attempted to call customer service and again waited 45 minutes and eventually hung up. Redialed and finally got the Dealer Assistance recording to leave a voice message. Never received a call back. I called again and this time I informed them my patience was done. The Rep very curtly and rudely snapped that I needed to return the light to the store where I purchased it. OK. The store owner I was told was out of the country and the staff was not authorized to make any exchanges. They actually did not have any more of these lights in stock anyway.........Sooooooo...I called my friends back at Customer Assistance. I informed them that I had $4000 worth of fish swimming in a dark tank for the last 3 days. They contacted the store where I purchased the light since they questioned my effort. I requested an overnight shipment of the new light which they flat out rejected. They made me provide them with my credit card and then they would forward another light. No promises if or when it would ship...This I was told was Company Policy. Presently I have a cheap fluorescent light from Pet Smart which I purchased in the interim. I usually don’t respond on these sites but since this whole experience was so utterly and completely egregious I just want to dissuade anyone from purchasing this light and dealing with this company. Dr Robert Starner
When i had mine replaced its really simple i just emailed them that the light was electrifying me when i touched it and told them if it was normal and they said its not and they'll replaced it, i just need to cut the cord and sent a picture that i did so... a week later and i had my replacement
The marine nano will fit a 10 gallon tank, yes. At the standard 20 inches in length the ends of the aquarium will not be brightly lit, they will be somewhat dimmer.
Hello own a few Aquaskys love them. Wanted to setup the Mourning to a Redish orange. Daytime to White and Blue. And slowly tamper off to a 1 or 2 percent Blue. Can we setup a preset for this or explain how I can do it no luck ?? Thanks.
Jason, there is an update coming very soon, sorry we are late on it but we want to add as much of the great input we have received to date for improvements, thanks for the patience.
It's in the settings on the mobile app. If you just click it on manually it'll stay on until you click it off. If you use one of the presets in the mobile app, it'll do it for you.
To Fluval Aquatics , Hello, I'm am extremely pleased with the Light just purchased two more additional units The Aquasky . Wanting to have a Mourning Light Red and white very dim. This color is one of the presents on the remote . Then White and Blue for Daylight. to tamper off to 1 or 2 percent. Blue for Night. Maybe setup a File so I could Export it . ?? Need help Thanks
Ok, great light. But the word export is not intuitive in this case. Export usually means take these settings and create a new preset. Then when you want to use that preset, you usually import. This is the case for almost every software. So please change the use case here to import.
Roy, you can select a preset or save your own program. Your created programs are saved in export along with the pre set programs, if you wish to re-engage a program you created or a pre set program in export, just select it.
@@fluval " unfortunately" that was a missed opportunity. Having that tank as a part of your product line up and then designing a superior light that doesn't fit one of your own products make no sense.
Fluval Aquatics if I do that there won’t be a moonlight until darkness mode like most controlled led lights on the market. Are you guys saying that just to get the light to turn off at night instead of staying on all night , I’ll have to basically loose this function of the light?
E, you had mentioned the light does not turn off at night therefore we let you know it does. If you want moonlight simply dial in a small % of which ever LED you wish, normally it would be blue.
Fluval Aquatics I’m pretty sure you understood what I said about the light itself not being able to shut off while in auto mode. That’s a huge flaw, will there be an update 😒 ?
When your light loses power, the scheduling does not come back on and you have to reconnect it to bluetooth app. So if youre traveling out of town for a few days and you lose electricity, yea, when power goes back on the light will not kick back on. Very lame.
In your absence should this happen, your family member(s), friend(s) or neighbor can re-connect using their mobile device (after downloading the free Fluval Smart Ap).
Fluval Aquatics seriously doubt my pet sitter knows how to configure the light. Maybe you should have included a little solid state memory onboard so that peoples settings arnt lost every time the power is interrupted. You could at least add an option to the app to send the settings file via email so that your pet sitter doesnt fry your tank while you are away.
Sorry to hear of the problem, please contact customer support at fluvalaquatics.com we can troubleshoot what could be the cause of the issue you are experiencing.

i would like to know before i purchase the Fluval Marine & sea Spectrum LED 59w length: 122-147 cm extendable if it will be good for my 5 foot 150cm reef aquarium im consider about the light will cover the entire aquarium with no dark spot in the corners of the aquarium and if he will support grow to the coral and the coralline algae i hope to have a respond soon thank you again
It would be with some fore thought given to which species of coral you plan to keep and where they are placed.
How do I get back to the saved presets that I previously created to use one without creating a new one?
They would be available to you in Export, once you have named and saved a program it will show in Export.
Hi! I’ve just bought the nano lamp. My question is: What is best setup for soft corals? Thank you!!
What size of aquarium are you planning and which species of soft coral are you considering?
Fluval Aquatics Hi, my aquarium has 38 liters (30 real liters of water with sand and rocks).
I would like to put:
-Zoanthus, Xenia, Actinodiscus, Rodhactis, Palythoa and Pachyclavularia.
Otherwise I have to buy new chinese "Bierkisten" :(
Hi! We're not sure we understand - what do you mean by a real moon cycle?
@@fluval a 28 day cycle?
Fluval Aquatics where are you at with this update? It cant possibly be that hard to add a lunar and solar calendar. How about a cloudy option so the lights vary in intensity during the day? Seems like you all talk a big game about “new and exciting updates” but have made just one.
Will the same app work to program multiple lights, including different light types? For instance if I have both a fluval plant light on one tank and a fluval marine on another tank?
Yes it will.
In the auto mode, is there any way to have no light (so that when I go to sleep at night the tank is completely dark)? Thank you.
Yes ensure all the LEDs are set to 0.
Just got the light, created my settings but the light does not turn off after it reaches the shutoff time. Does it not turn off by itself?
Are all the LEDs dialed down to 0 in night mode?
Is there a way to change the time to 12 hour?
Hi James, it's not possible to change the time to 12 hour at the moment, but it's a feature we're looking into implementing in the near future!
any reason why my light flickers when off on auto. if i turn it off manually via the app its fine
There has been an app update, if you are experiencing issues please contact fluvalsmart@fluvalaquatics.com and make sure to provide your exact model of light unit, the mobile device you are using and its' operating system and version.
how many light can you connect to the app and can you copy the program from one light to all the rest
The app will recognize each light individually, we have connected up to 50 units. To send a program to another light you would export it from the app to the light unit you have connected to.
can you pair two lights for one tank?
Hi Tommy, yes! You can add multiple LEDs to the app, and have them all run with the exact same settings so that they operate in unison!
They are not ip67 rated because I had 2 of them and both stopped working due to condensation buildup inside the light unit
We're sorry to hear about this! Our customer support team is available to help you: fluvalaquatics.com/us/contact-us/
this video is great, but it seems out dated. There is a Pro setting that was not mentions.
Thanks and is a result of the date that this video was produced, which was before the Pro addition.
@@fluval can we expect a new video?
Great explanation of operation. have been on three other sites , yours the best.. if you don't want any lights over night how do you pick no lights.
You can select 0% in night mode.
@@fluval How can I Pair two lights on my tank to one setting?
The app is capable of controlling multiple units, you would need to replicate the same settings per light unit.
@@fluval I realize that and have done it. But I seen on a youtube site they say you can pair them but say how.
Joseph, the bluetooth chip is in the light, if the settings are the same in each light they will operate as one light unit. The clock function is updated by your mobile device.
I’m setting mine up and when I hit scan nothing comes up just keeps spinning
Have you checked to ensure both bluetooth and location are turned on in connection settings?
Dr. Starner, where are you located, which country? Did you try contacting the Fluval support team via fluvalaquatics.com?
When i had mine replaced its really simple i just emailed them that the light was electrifying me when i touched it and told them if it was normal and they said its not and they'll replaced it, i just need to cut the cord and sent a picture that i did so... a week later and i had my replacement
will this braket work on a 10 gallon rimmed tank???
Also when do they shut off...
It's in the settings on the mobile app. If you just click it on manually it'll stay on until you click it off. If you use one of the presets in the mobile app, it'll do it for you.
@rickyspanish6261 appreciate itbut that was 4 years ago lol
To Fluval Aquatics ,
Hello, I'm am extremely pleased with the Light just purchased two more additional units The Aquasky .
Wanting to have a Mourning Light Red and white very dim. This color is one of the presents on the remote .

Maybe setup a File so I could Export it . ??
Need help Thanks
Jason, please refer to our answer above.
@@fluval Got it Thank you for the fast response. 👍
Would this be a good light for the Evo 13.5?
Yes! Please take note of the sizing of the lights vs. the length of the aquarium.
Ok, great light. But the word export is not intuitive in this case. Export usually means take these settings and create a new preset. Then when you want to use that preset, you usually import. This is the case for almost every software. So please change the use case here to import.
Is there an updates video
Absolutely! You can watch it here: th-cam.com/video/YtbO88yC3L0/w-d-xo.html
How do you reset settings back to standard?
Roy, you can select a preset or save your own program. Your created programs are saved in export along with the pre set programs, if you wish to re-engage a program you created or a pre set program in export, just select it.
It doesn't look like this fits with the stock lid to the sea Evo 13.5. seems like that would have been a no brainer.
The EVO launched prior to the line of bluetooth controlled LED lighting systems unfortunately.
@@fluval " unfortunately" that was a missed opportunity. Having that tank as a part of your product line up and then designing a superior light that doesn't fit one of your own products make no sense.
How long should lights be on
Michael, typical photo period can vary from 8 to 12 hours depending on whether you keep live plants and the type.
Are there any Plans to Update the Fluval Smart App?
Kevin, it is in the works, we had a delay due to the addition of features, it will arrive soon, thanks for the patience!
Perfekt, thank you for your quick response !
Please update, this light does not turn off at night!
Please connect with your mobile device to ensure night mode shows 0% for each LED.
Fluval Aquatics Yeah I’m basically asking will the light ever turn off ? 😕
Hello?? Fluval
This junk light won’t connect anymore what a waste of money.
