Back then there were things you couldn't say that they COULD say today ... They didn't complain AND WHINE, they navigated the landscape and pushed the envelope. Maybe the problem with cancelation is funny or talented people are putting themselves in a position to be canceled in the first place. Your audience, if they find you funny, are not going to alienate you. They know you. So maybe they are being put in front of audiences that they didn't organically collect and being paid by people who don't value their art form but see them no different from an old set light ... If it no longer makes them money, it has to go. They did this to themselves ...
