The "bottle opener" is actually a tail gate tie down point able to withstand 300lbs of upward lift (secondary use is opening bottles). They were meant to be used to hold down your 4'x8' sheets of plywood that you can haul when the tailgate is in the secondary position. Adding the dampener removes that ability from the truck. I see wayyyyyyy to many people refer to those tie down points as ONLY bottle openers :,(
I was lucky enough to order the 2023 hybrid. Thank you for the video. It gives me a better understanding of accessories available. Mine is coming with the drop in bed liner and trailer hitch wiring. The dealer and TH-camrs gave good advice to order as few accessories as possible to save production time. I will be ordering the hood protector, wind deflector, floor mats and door sill protectors from Ford. Tail gate assist is available after market as well as tethering system.
Good choice Gary! The $100 tow would cost over $500 aftermarket. You could get spray-in from you dealer later. I highly recommend 360 even if it takes longer. Besides the added safety features, you get a full size spare. If you ordered XL, you also get power mirrors. My channel's OC to PC series has videos with 360 driving demos that will help.
Good luck. I’m still waiting on mine ordered more than a year ago. Got scheduled a month ago but it’s likely to be pushed into 23 now. Gotta be patient for the hybrid.
I really did not like the spray on bed liner option. The Ford bed liner (not shown here) is the best of the bed liner options, takes a bit to install, also recommend getting another Ford cubby hole storage bin (under $50) for the left rear to match the one the truck comes with on the right rear side, replacing the blank panel that covers the hole, and the bed liner has to be carefully cut out to allow clearance for access to the storage bin covers. I did not bother with the bug shield on the front hood, instead spent $10 for a sheet of rubberized stick on material I used on the bottom steel runners just inside the door jams, and the piece left over was just large enough to apply to the front of the hood, took some work to get it located correctly, used painters tape to set the edge line to follow when applying, then just cut the excess off along the hood edge, left in the sun for a few hours and it tightened right up, worked out exceptionally well, and can easily be replaced if needed, or just taken off and back to a factory hood with no residue. I also bought two 12 volt cigarette lighter type power outlets, and installed them on either side of the lower rear most inside panels of the bed, factory has a small access panel on either side that allows access to a 12 volt plug (pull the panel off, unplug the outlet from the blank panel and then plug it into an accessory). The factory parts dealer could not tell me what accessories this was supposed to provide power to, so I cut them off and soldered on connectors for the lighter outlets, secured them to holes I cut in the bed liner, and then added a small screw through the bed liner to the steel panel just under the outlets to keep them secured when in use. I think this guy is right about the factory floor mats, but I like the after market floor mats I bought, that were much less expensive. Also, along the upper edge of the bed on either side are four additional threaded bolt holes that allow you to bolt on hold downs and I bought for small money 8 hold down anchors and bolted them down along that upper edge so now along with the factory ones I have plenty of hold down points inside the bed.
I have a 2023 Maverick and purchased the Ford bed mat because it has cutouts for the front lower tie downs. I'm not sure why the one you got doesn't have that feature. The rear lower tie downs are not affected by the bed mat because they are above the bed floor.
Nice video and I think I would like the bed liner. As to the tail gate hydraulic opener, the bottle cap opener also serves as tie downs. Since I haul a good bit of plywood I would not give up the tie down (bottle opener) as they are needed to secure the plywood. The tailgate isn't heavy so I see no need for the hydraulic opener anyway.
Excellent info video and your opinions are great on the accessories . I ordered a 2023 and I love to hear other peoples ideas as to what I would add on after receiving mine. Hopefully, I will get mine before the end of 2023. Every Mazda3, Toyota Carolla and Civic owner now considers the mini truck now..
Totally corolla owner and recently placed my Maverick 2023 on order as well hybrid just because of the added space and gas mileage. Similar to my current car but much more efficient, car wise. Doing research as you're on what to do after I receive mine and get it going on with it.
Joseph, from the factory I recommend 360 because you can't add those safety features later. That also adds full size spare on a hybrid. If you did not order lux, I also recommend the $100 hitch receiver and the $150 110v outlet in the cab to power laptops on road trips. My channel has other ideas that may help you.
I really like several of them.. the hood deflector, bed mat ,windshield cover, window air deflector... I already purchased the floor mats and Tri fold hard cover with my XLT Hybrid Maverick with the luxury package.. 13 months and counting for delivery...
If you don't have a build date/week yet be sure to reach out to your dealer as you may need to convert your order to a 2023. I ordered a hybrid lariat lux around this time last year and just got a build date for week of November 7th. From what I'm seeing online, that's either the last or second to last build week for hybrid 2022s. Ford has some sort of program for converting to 2023 where there is a credit applied. Also note from what I've seen online the packages may not be 1:1 between 2022 and 2023 models.
I’m thinking of ordering a 2025 Maverick..Can I order These particular accessories at the time of sit down with my local ford dealer..Have ford equip before delivery…Thank you great content..New sub
This was exactly what I needed. When I was originally spec-ing out the truck I was thinking I'd get one of the bed caps that Ford was selling. Thought I'd put my dog back there but then thinking about it I'm in NY and it's cold here more than 50% of the time. Wouldn't want to throw my dog in a cold bed so she'll be in the cab with me anyway. On top of that Ford stopped selling the caps for a bit so I figured I'd just get a tonneau. The pricing on the Ford one is pretty steep though so unless they can throw it into my monthly payments I may just wait and grab something aftermarket since this one doesn't seem all that remarkable.
As a fellow Sacramento Maverick owner, could I ask a favor? Can you see if the tail gate is exactly parallel to the bed? Mine angles down when opened and if feels like it slants down, which feels unsafe as mine is still slippery paint.
even with the bed liner, i do robotics and having the bed mat protects the robots from being scratched if they slide. its worth it. but i got cheaper third party and its great, same with mats i got thirdpartu and the fit is perfect sense they laser scanned the floor to fit and cheaper, but time will tell for the material quality. i don't like the dealer generic ones that came with mine as they don't cover the carpet and slide around
Still waiting for my 2022 maverick hybrid was supposed to be here last week so I'm waiting to GET my maverick B4 I order anything o ya ordered it last September 9th still waiting. Anyway thanks 4 the information that's a nice looking truck.
I special ordered 2, 2022 Maverick Lariat fx4 500A 2.0 awd tonneau, spray in bedliner, moonroof, slider, 4k tow package Velocity blue, black wheels, all weather mats, bed swing out box. 1 arrived today, 2nd been built, and shipped but if anyone wants one I might not buy a 3rd I already own 1, with 2nd picking up on Thursday Oct 20th,2022. I've been kicking around buying the 3rd be cool to have someone who has there own financing to buy it. Has everything the first edition does without the 1st edition stickers basically.
If you don't buy them all you will hand over $20k ADM to your dealer. Sell one full retail to a PP to lower your overall cost. I own 2 that I show on my channel: XLT AWD and XLT hybrid.
@@fordmaverickmaniac I got the 2nd Maverick today total with lifetime bumper to bumper warranty, service warranty, paint an interior warranty package all with taxes, licensing, 48k paid cash. So both Lariat 4k tow FX4 500A 2.0 AWD Velocity blue. It does have different interior features, bed features being the same Lariat package weird. Camera is better maybe a better version. Muffler is different my 1st has cat, muffler before the rear Axle then a 2nd muffler right at the bumper. This 2nd has 1 cat, 1 muffler weird. Dual thermostat Dials on the missing digital readout on 2nd Maverick.
Yep around 48k, my 1st fully loaded Maverick on the lot was 47k with 5k mark up. My newest was 38,500 from the factory with all my options I picked. Without tax @ 10.5% Maverick club don't forget about that, 200 doc fee, 3500 service package, spray in liner, tonneau cover. It's all good both Mavericks are paid in full. I'm happy with my purchase just wished I would have traded in 1 of my 7 rigs. But I did cancel my 3rd 22' Maverick. Or my wife's 21' Harley she don't ride has 232 miles Sporty 1200 iron black on black
Well the first comment I would like to make in Fords defense is, the tape on accessories being SOLD BY FORD but made by AVS for Ford. The have a small Ford etched logo but again are a aftermarket item simply being OFFERED BY FORD ( so stop giggling ). Second, as I have done, take a small razor knife or knife and lightly scrape the sharp edges instead of repeatedly cutting yourself. And lastly, if you do not absolutely need a given accessory right away then I suggest waiting g for your purchase of your new truck and then use the FORDPASS REWARDS Ford gives you and get several of the add on FREE by using these rewards. 🤦♀️ lol.
So basically the first 13 minutes of the video is about stickers masquerading as accessories . I really find that disappointing and will probably look to after market for mine if I ever get it (ordered this year). Honestly the only thing I want is the tail gate dampener and the plastic you put over the other plastic to stop scratches. I live in Roseville and used to drive out to Zinfandel via Sunrise so I keep seeing all the stuff in the background and it gives me flash backs.
There are gremlins at the Ford factories that sharpen all exposed edges on their vehicles, I have cut myself of every Ford product I have ever worked on.
JFK, guy - it took 02:23 for you to finally start talking about real accessories, and that was after telling us three or four times that you were going to talk about accessories, and then starting with features of the First Edition trim, that by your own admission aren't accessories. If you want to have any hope of growing your channel, I STRONGLY suggest that you don't waste your viewer's time by repeating the same words over-and-over, or by covering matters that are not germane to the subject of your video. It is REALLY annoying. Content note: The primary purpose of what you described as "bottle openers" is to act as tie-downs for straps needed to haul large panels or dimensional lumber. When you remove one of them, you effectively lose that function. You should have mentioned that, since for many people, it is a non-starter.

The bug deflector is to be installed 1 mm above the hood edge and you wouldn't cut your fingers on the edge of the deflector.
Note for the tool box you only drill out the plastic not the metal behind it. Check out youtube video.

Those side window deflectors they create wind drag I took them off for a quieter ride
