I'm happy with the Irish team selection on this occasion . Andy is blooding Sam with an eye to the upcoming Lions tour . If he comes through this , playing well be could push for a Lions place . The result for me is an Irish win .
He won't be on the Lions, he's being lined up to take over while Crowley is on the Lions, you don't put a 21 yr old with no experience on a Lions tour, it takes years of experience and accomplishment to get to that level. Crowley, Smith, Russell are the Lions 10s ,watch this space. Let the lad ,Sam, actually play some senior rugby before anointing him the GOAT, Leinster supporters are becoming more like English hype merchants everyday. Enjoy the game
@@MorrisdeSaucer Owen Farrell did well on his first tour with the Lions. Paul O'Connell rated him. Exposure in a Lions environment could do wonders being in a truly competitive team environment. Farrell was 22 if I remember.
I pray they are just there for the last hurray anniversary blah blah and that is the last we see of them. If they are still around for the 6 Nations you'd have to have serious doubts about Farrell's belief in this team's ability to challenge for a World Cup. The time to be giving young guys minutes is now.
Yes, I do agree , problem is there's no lineout callers in the replacement 8 but these guys, and Ireland score 80% of tries off lineouts , so you can't pick Izzy or C Prendegast in such a big game with.no calling experience at this levrl. This is unfortunate but it's a fact. I'd have picked Beirne at 4 and POM at 6 to start and brought Izzy and J Ryan off the bench ,drop Henderson, hes a peno machine and unfit , to balance everything out. And I know what you'll say POM??? Blah blah, but leadership is half of the battle in rugby and he is probably the most respected and influential they have right now.
