Congrats on the new gear! I play exclusively through an OR15, and absolutely love the way the thing sounds.
The current cover band I'm playing in is a mix of country and rock, which requires a wide range of sounds from clean to well overdriven. The Orange nails it all. I have the dials set and never need to change them. I use a tele for the cleaner songs and a LP junior (P90)for the rest.
I've never loved an amp so much! I hope you enjoy your's as much as I have mine! Cheers!

Glad you like your Orange Amps, Mary! I am not a huge fan of their clean tones, they just don't get quite as crystal clear as I like especially when using fuzz. However, I do love the Orange crunch tones and they sound great when pushed with a boost! I personally use a Blackstar Artist 30 for my cleans and stacked pedal tones, and then most of my dirtier high gain tones come from a Mesa Boogie Nomad 45. I use an EHX Soul Food, Way Huge Russian Pickle Fuzz, and Keeley Katana for most of my tones that aren't the Mesa with the gain cranked.

I absolutely love Orange. I'm a bassist and my rig is Orange. I was so impressed that they serve all my six string needs as well. I don't need to look anywhere else. I've reached out to be an ambassador-to my surprise they got back to me. They said as a player they'd take me for sure, but my social media imprint just isn't big enough, but to definitely keep touch. Their customer service makes me want to work with them even more. Cheers. I enjoy your work.

Michael Conland I actually much prefer the sound of British clean tones. They have more chime and are more open sounding than the tight brittle American clean tones. Not only that, but 90% of old records from the late 60's and 70's, if a player is getting a clean tone, they got it from rolling their guitar volume knob back on a cranked Marshall. Best clean tone ever.

    • @michaelconland6345
      @michaelconland6345 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I wasn't even really trying to give a preference. Just surprised that there are so many comments talking about Orange as though they're hi-gain only.

I have a Randall Satan - love it for what it does. Hooked up and eventually blew a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe out of my Delay pedal in conjunction with the ol Satan - That was the Moment Mary when I fell in love with clean - my main guitar is a MIJ Fender Jaguar Hardtail. Stereo clean is a land that tells more stories and atmospheres. Starting to move that clean direction after playing Drop C with OD808. It's funny the older I get, or the longer I have played Guitar the more I personally move to simplicity of everything frankly. Can't wait to go combo shopping - or buy Fender American in 2017 - what the lineup, and Offsets for the first time in 30 years...

You can "lug" your amp with a folding hand trolley strapped with bungee cords. I often go from van to gig and back with my 100w bass amp (63 lbs) with one. The "heavy lifting" part is to get it in and out of your vehicle. The rest is like moving a roller board, flight luggage. Just make sure the deck which the amp sits extend beyond the amp (for access for bungee hooks and hand-holds) and the wheels are large enough to negotiate curbs, stairs, and other typical ground/floor obstacles. Oh get a piece of cardboard to protect the amp face regardless if having it face out or in.

I just got a Rockerverb 50 MkIII. I'M really liking this amp, I was playing an old Marshall MF 350, but it started sounding thin and a bit scratchy. Its a hybrid amp that used to have a great sound. I am now getting back to valve amps which differ some from the solid state stuff. This is fun making the adjustment. This Orange amp follows the guitar so well, it's quiet very musical, no matter if its in the dirty channel or the clean. I love the half point graduations on the controls, what a great idea! The build quality on this amp is fabulous too! I am just really stoked over this Rockerverb! I also have an Orange CR60C. This little solid state amp with its 12" speaker and open back sounds pretty nice especially in the clean channel. I am sure in the future I'll have some more Orange amps don't know what that would be yet I heard the Trem Lord tonight and liked its sparkling tones. Well I love your playing, your taste in guitar amplifiers and most of all your attitude. I'm an American with a heart for lots of British stuff. I also appreciate you English ladies as well, just sayin...... lol.

Mr Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin was a Orange Amp player at one time or another. So many orange amps to choose from. like choosing a star amoung the heavens or a pebble from a long beach. Mary,
For the type of music that you are doing, Orange is absolutely the last amp I would think you chose. But, that's simply an example of your unique character.
You often have a completely different take than the rest of the crowd. That's an admirable quality to possess.
Something that really appeals to me about all of that is your live "look". Folksy-ish, soft-rock-ish, singer, songwriter, in a semi-quiet darkened venue, and Orange amps on the stage. For those in the crowd who are "in the know"... Those amps are making a statement! : )
Actually, I'm in the market for a new amp right now....and suddenly Orange amps are dancing across my skull. Ha
Gratz on the new amps! Haven't seen you use them yet, but I'll find a video with them somewhere.
    Thanks

I picked up an LP 60 tribute from GAK in Brighton a month or so ago.
Their demo rooms have Thunderverb 200's and 4x12 cabs. The clean tones off an amp with that much headroom was nothing short of mesmerising. The dirt speaks for itself. If i had a room big enough, a wife patient enough, and neighbours understanding enough I'd have walked out with the guitar and amp without a second thought... I don't, so I didn't... Mary. I'm sure you're going to have a lot of fun with your new baby...

I have a few "high end" amps...Orange is one I don't have yet, but it seems to me, the large group of players that use them love them. Eric Clapton used them Orange Amps briefly back in the olden days. I use Marshall Valvestate 80 and a little Marshall MG10 CD for studio practice when wanted or needed. The MG 10 is tiny enough you can fit it in a Smart Car so it's no match for the Valvestate 80's street cred but I like it anyways.

If you are thinking of Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, he used Matamps in the beginning. The whole amp range of Orange originated from Matamp building them in the early 70's. Perhaps you should look at Matamp's Green amps (See the Peter Green connection there?), ultra clean monster amps unless you turn up the gain.

I think you'll still need a VOX or Fender DR next to that orange amplifier.

I hear ya .. It's 94 degrees Fahrenheit here in Austin...just brutal. And it's going to get even hotter as summer rolls in.
    Cheers.

I'm a huge fan of stoner/doom/desert rock, and it would be easier to list the bands that DON'T use Orange amps. ☺ Lot of blues players use them too. I was watching a TH-cam video of 70's blues/folk band Curved Air perform Backstreet Luv using Orange amps. Awesome performance.

Always puzzles me that so many doom desert folks automatically go with orange amps when they could get a matamp for the same price. They're much more voiced towards doom with that brutal vari tone circuit and they actually built the original orange amps!

Tony hated orange amps, Sabbath only borrowed them for the top of the pops paranoid and iron man session in 1970

axelmannen237 Tony did not hate Orange amps, he changed to Laney because Laney gave them for free, it's that simple.

Paul Kossoff also used an Orange Matamp during the Beatclub sessions in 1970 with Free. Although he was primarily a Marshall guy and was known to use a 100w Super Bass most of the time...

Orange are outstanding. I am thinking of buying the Micro Terror head and the dark as well. For a tiny lunchbox amp they rock. I have a Marshall Valvestate 100V head which I found at the tip. Got it for free only cost me £30 to get it up and running. I run it through a cheap 4x12 it does the job for recording.

There is footage, on yt, of a live gig filmed by Granada TV. Free were the subject of the film, and, in the background, you can quite clearly see Paul Kossoff playing an Orange head, in combination with a Marshall head, into some Marshall 4x12 cabinets, so you're in quite esteemed company (bad company?!!).

One of the guitar players from Every Time I Die uses a Thunderverb 200. When I saw him soundcheck live, I immediately recognized the tone. That Orange amplifier is the reason his sound was so different from everyone else who played that night. And it can do clean, dirty, and blistering.

For the life of me I can't get my semi-hollow body guitar to record well from my Orange Crush 20RT guitar amp, but every other guitar sounds amazing. I love the Orange vibe.
