The pollution has added a really interesting dynamic to rimworld, I'm glad to see you make good use of them in your challenges.
Melee blocking tactics are hard countered by Imps. Learned it the hard way myself.
PS: You could have used a butcher spot instead, since you didn't have enough for a butcher table.
i think butcher table yields more resources so it could be more efficient
The optimal strat I've found is to throw a slave at them into melee range so they all waste their fire spew on cooking them instead of the killbox
@@yoishiu it does, but without the wood to build it ( until trading for it ), its better to have a spot than nothing at all. also a nutripaste dispenser wouldve both stretched the food and prevented food poisoning
@@yoishiu butcher table is better but luxury when you don't have the steel or wood to make one. Better off with a smelter or a comms console especially as a mechanitor starts with it researched.
@@luzhang2982 paste dispenser is one of the best items in the game in terms of food efficiency. Can make a few trays of rice grown last for a long time. Plus it creates a wall you can build your base around the mighty dispenser of life giving goo.
I like the fail videos. I am always skeptical of people who seem to have a colony that is too perfect.
Yes, they are probably savescamming or even worse - using developer mode. Who even does that? *laughs nervously*

You can never have perfect colony, there will appear a hole in your colony for enemies to take advantage off.

Randy doesnt care if your suffering or not he can decide to be "D" and summon multiple events at you in single day, but ye its true he cant send raid at you to be as strong as Cassandra or Phoebe if he repeats it in quick succesion so instead Randy decides to send wild animals at you, disease whatever.
So be careful Randy can roll dice and say, ha your screwed. But true despite being random and unpredictable hes often the easier of Storytellers

And the same but opposite in Desert or Extreme Variant cuz its 2 extremes days Are hot and nights are cold.

Mechanoids make any extreme environment in Rimworld viable.
Yeah, those impids can really do some damage with their fire. By the way, if you put your mechs into a fire, they will extinguish it. 🙂

I've been trying my own Sea Ice Challenge! No pollution tho, that's extra spicy! I've created my own Xenotype with super-cold immunity, Furskin and Fluffy Tail, for that extra survivability, mechanitor start, and was going straight for 2 wind turbines, Battery, 2 Hydropondics and kitchen. Built the research bench out of plasteel to have enough steel for the Rest. I looked up some tips and generated alot of maps, until i had one where i could have a nearby settlement to trade with - which made the run alot more managable! It's still super hard, but having that settlement nearby to trade all my human leather tribalwear and corsets with for silver, steel and wood allowed me to slowly expand and stop having my rice fields lose power and die out all the time :) Also allowed cannibalism in my Ideology. being able to eat human meat meals made a big difference.

On the ice sheet if there is a geothermal vent you can build a house around it and it will heat it for you.
And if said vent is surrounded by poisoned land and air and will give you cancer while you keep warm?
You don't have to worry about cancer in far future if you will die in couple of hours

@@LibbyGrimm I don't think he doesn't care. He still produces interesting content with a failed scenario. But I feel that I understand where that thought is coming from. His videos are always more of a documentary than a real narrative. It can feel a little lackluster, when you are just watching a series of events without any form of interesting narration
@Kombator the fact he's producing the the *exact same* video each week, same format, same research path with same exact characters for years now, he has to be burned out af on that.
Now his gameplay is suffering and he's dropping the ball cus he's afraid to change what works for the algorithm.
It is uninspired and the energy from 4m ago is completely gone now and he's losing scenarios fnr.
And lol, "watching series without any form of interesting narration" isn't a positive fact, it means it sucks.

I think it's more beneficial to go for a smelter and comms console, with a good medic to start. That way you can sell off excess wealth (organs, human leather clothing/furniture, etc.) and eventually get enough steel for hydroponics. Eventually you want to start selling drugs or deepdrilling so that you get out of thee RNG survival faze.
The research is nice, but just isn't worth it right away.
I feel like a lot of Rimworld streamers always forget to factor in the Imp's firebreathing.
I was doing a sea ice run wih a mechanitor, the steel for a smelter can be an investment to get you more steel from cargo pods and other weapons a together bench is a luxury cause how many meteorites can you really count on getting chunks from. Electric smelter and a comms console and pray for a bulk goods trader to get stone blocks from. I was building walls from silver uranium plaster jade, anything but steel early on cause you need steel for hydroponics power and a paste dispenser. Once you get deep drilling it's gg but the trick is getting there.
Wimp is bad too cause she can go down to gut worms or so e other similar disease fibrous mechanics would also debilitate them.
Every smeltable weapon should be even if its just a small knife that can add up to more steel. Maybe a lil organ harvesting to get some silver to trade with.
Maybe if you made a Yttakin character you could have used the steel for heaters to build turrets

Am I the only one who thinks that, on sea ice, tribe start is harder than mechanitor start? No steel, no technology, low on food, no mechs, etc.

Like any sea ice playthrough, these honestly feel kinda boring. Like it's the most 'extreme' biome, but there's so little on the map, almost nothing happens, anyways. He lived in the same tiny shack for the entirety of the video...
Mining is such a huge part of the game.

wow this story generator is so beautiful tragedy. husband found his way home but bad guy come and set house on fire, everyone gone like everyday in rimworld. compare to my story my colonist decide bidge party is a good idea while the wall and some colonist still broken from raid my story ending is always so different and less beutiful than this
Why do you have to get rid of extra wealth? Does it just attract more raiders?
Every point of wealth adds towards "raid points" that the game uses to determine how big raids are. So 1,000 silver could mean an extra raider when they come raiding.
Now give your dude all negative traits!
