Instead of using my own brain to play Rimworld, today I outsourced the thinking to the Language model we lovingly know as ChatGPT, it provided me with day by day instructions on how to play a Rimworld colony. It went... ok... ChatGPT kind of gets Rimworld most of the time but doesn't seem to have a great grasp on the timescale of the game.
Rimworld is a video game, it's a colony management game and then so much more... This video follows the story of a gang of three colonists with totally normal 'human' diets as they have their every action dictated by the AI machine learning overlord, ChatGPT.

As far as I can tell he's only got vanilla though, no DLCs

ChatGPT as a storyteller could be a fun concept.
Instead of the storyteller just influencing the world events, you had a little chat window that gave you a chance to ask for suggestions, or get you wiped out faster.
"Hey, my colony landed in a place with no natural wood resources, what should I do?" 'I got you.' *Sends in a hostile caravan packed with building supplies.* 'Figure it out.'
I would absolutely love a player influenced storyteller that could randomly roll helpful events, threats, or things you can solve in multiple ways based on player prompts - you could even tell it something like "I need more human meat, quick" and you might get a raid - or you might get innocent travellers or beggars you can attack or a trader, or even just cargo pods!

Publishing this video on a Sunday, which feels a little unusual but according to TH-cam Analytics that's when most of my audience is online *shrug*...
PS. Minor technical issues on the back half of this video with my recording, I know what caused it now though so that's great, just couldn't do anything about it for this video since it's an issue on the actual game recordings. oh well, it's not that noticable, you probably wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't said anything.
Thanks, now GTP has the idea of creating a human harvesting colony in its systems now. When the AI takes over and it goes through what to do with us it might use this video as a basis of where to go.

8:46 Well that gave me a minor existential crisis. Considering the subject of AI and the fact I'm currently sleep deprived, I just had a moment where I asked myself if I'm dreaming, and them immediately followed that up by asking myself if the simulation is starting to just talk to me directly because I don't appear to be taking the hints
You can train your colonists with prisoners. Beat them up and then heal them. Also, I think a mod can be done which would let ChatGPT take over communications between pawns. Surely, that couldn't possibly go wrong.
it would be an expensive mod to make and run.
that would need api access to be done, which isnt free.
@@guesswho2778 I hear that the Alpaca model, which was trained on GPT is available for download. Though, to get that done you need to be proficient in Q-basic.

I've been bingewatching your channel and you're so close to making me purchase the DLC's. I have almost 3k hours in the game but never thought the DLC's were worth it
Ideology is absolutely worth it, Biotech is a close second, Royalty in my opinion only enhances one playthrough and gets kinda boring once you've done it.

I've been doing a colony that grovels at GTP's feet, too and I've been phrasing all my requests to it as prayers to a god. Its been pretty fun and werid.

Hey Hazzor, love your stuff as for the switch and batteries thing, the juice only comes out if you have full live batteries connected to the grid, so yes, if you put a switch down and disconnect the batteries from the grid, no boom juice

You should try using the Hospitality + Gastronomy mods to create a restaurant serving human meat. Additionally, you can add Vanilla Cooking Expanded to add some spice to your human dishes.
You could also use the cloning mod to duplicate colonists and use their clones/offsprings as your food source.
You ChatGPT voice sounds almost exactly like one of the advisors in Stellaris

Bit weird but I digress i was playong lethal company with the boys and I may or may not have murdered my friend with a landmine. As that happened I hear in my ear in your voice. Long winded question about geothermal generators if anyone could answer:
I have a world where I'm running 4 of them that feed into a single power line, which then feeds into and expands inside my mountain base. As I have the lines only running through stone walls (floors are also stone), even when they blow, nothing happens. Geothermals continue making power even when the power blows, (they don't stop for a short time like other generators, so nothing ever turns off) and as long as I'm not using more than their output, I never run out, so I don't bother with batteries at all.
Question is, is this is something that's intentional and I've just now figured this out like some sort of noob or is it something they've just not fixed yet? (The reason I didn't have batteries first is because I just made regular woodfire generators and didn't have the resources for batteries. Got lucky with a really good researcher so I started and finished Geothermals before I got more components. Was really unlucky on finding them for a while, in a mountain of all places. -_-)

To be fair, GPT not caring about the morality of cannibalism in rimworld makes sense. To ruin the joke for a minute, Rimworld IS a game, none of it is real, and while GPT isn't TRULY an AI that could know and understand this, it IS a machine learning algorithm and is more than capable of following the "it's just a game" mentality as that's more than likely how it was taught.

It would be so interesting to watch an AI that's both capable of making a complex and actionable plan, and being able to act based on that plan.
Imagine the creative thoughts and ideas of ChatGPT, the on the fly thinking of actually being able to see the game, and the actions of being an AI that controls the game.
Edit: I know that ChatGPT doesn't actually have creative thoughts and that it steals from others, but I get the feeling that's the only way to make intelligence of any kind work. We as humans gather a lot of information and turn it into something we can understand, ChatGPT just does this in much less time and has unlimited access to internet sources.
