It really is super nice seeing how impactful the tech was-especially for a card like Cornucopia where it's subtle and happens over the course of many turns. Seeing "oh you'd be completely dead if not for the cornucopias but you're at 15 because of them" makes it a lot more obvious how much of a powerful card it is. You should do this with other things too-see how much damage a card in an aggro deck pumps out in a game or how much value a manland generates
I'd have found it a little hard to believe without it. But there's no doubt that several of those games would have been losses without it. I'm really hard-pressed to think what would have been as effective in the same slot as a passive effect.

What truly put it over the top for me was the unholy trinity of astral cornucopia + three steps ahead + *intimidation campaign*. If you haven't tried it already, a Sultai list rather than Bant, more or less playing the same sort of control shell (deadly coverup instead of sunfall, go for the throat instead of get lost, the UB mill land which commits crimes instead of map-sa falcon land etc) allows you to keep committing crimes and recasting intimidation campaign every turn. And the true power is that means you very reliably cast at least one 2 color spell every turn and another interaction on opponents turn, drawing an extra card per turn, gaining 3/5/7/9+ life as you make more cornucopias and another set of lifegain on their turn. I’ve learned so much watching this channel over the past couple of weeks. I am determined to beat my son at this game and he hates control decks so that’s exactly what I’m gonna make.
Libby, not sure if you have time to read comments, but thank you very much for what you did! The edits have been clean, and the addition of the "Life gained" counter was really nice. Much appreciated!
I saw this on your moxfield last night and threw it together and had a blast with it running through the ladder Casting deluge with a couple of the cornucopia in play reminded me of playing sphinx’s rev lol
Every time I come back to magic, my first move is to go to CGB, browse the channel to find the most recent blue white control and go torture various Opponents. And every time, every freaking time, I'm not disappointed. This one is gold again. You are my true hero Sensei.
Got into fighting games recently and it changed my life. The feeling of winning because you are a better player than your opponent is something no MTG player has ever felt before.
Still don't like playing control myself but your thought processes are really helpful for learning how to evaluate threats and resources - *especially* that long mirror match, where ostensibly they're the same threats and resources (besides the cornucopias lol), so it's just down to who uses them better.
When I started seeing cornucopia a few weeks ago, I had to dial my red deck to burst harder and be less resilient to removal. Luckily, mono black is out of favor for some reason.
in a deck that wipes the board on turn 4/5 consistently, I feel like running eerie interference a better option than temp lockdown. Since it stays relevant later in the game and stops you from dying to a random uncounterable borderline untargetable haste.
Always learning watching you play blue white. I’ll be like why did he do that and 7 turns later it’s like oh that’s why. Ps loved the blue white vs blue white never didn’t have it
The single point of life from Celestus has already saved many a control mage's skins. This is our Celestus now. No longer Legendary, no longer conditional life gain, but no longer filters our hand.
Inefficient and sorcery speed and is pretty devastating if the opponent has removal for it. Basically the same reasons you don't see control decks running Ossification, and that's a much more efficient spell.
You forgot about the 5th type of thinker. The delay of game thinker, who once they know they have lost the game, will intentionally delay the game as much as possible, either in the hope that you may just quit or possibly throwing a temper tantrum because they lost (“some people just want to watch the world burn”🔥). MTG Arena players and sportsmanship are like Oil and Water.
I think you are making minor misplays by playing mirrexes before other lands T3-T5 because it means they are a target for field of ruins for longer and you have less access to you colors when before you can really stabilize to take value from mirrex. Great content though, keep it up!
I still cringed hard when he didnt go for that first Emperor with the mites, and im an Emperor simp! And its nothing to do with avengers level threat copium. Simply put the emperor was free, no tricks, no bamboozles, no downsides, just free, and any player of any skill level shouldve gone for her in that situation.
MTG Arena should have card specific configs. Depending on cards in your deck, you should have specific configs for auto doing certain actions. The optional life gain of the cornucopia in this game would get extremely annoying and most decks would never want to decline.
lol wut? you for real my man. Standard is meh cause of the 3 year rotation, decks are so bloated and busted you just die on turn 3 by "Slickshot", "Illuminator Virtuoso", "Picnic Ruiner" or "Imondane recruiter" and if its not that, you're just dead by a combo deck on turn 4 before you get to actually play magic its stupid. Unless you're playing a terrible deck which allows mtg arena's mmr matchmaking data to save you, this is all you're going to go up against. What we need is rotation that's why its been bumped up to Aug.
I didn't say that all these are not right. But together with all agro you described...this control full of removals ..swipers.....or the blue djinn deck with 16 counters....are so uninspired.....that rly make me throw up....! And i play mtg for more than 18 years....
Show libby some love for the lifegain counter!
It’s a feature!! Way to be proactive Libby
Hell yeah Libby you’re a real one 🙏
Excellent addition. Well done!

MAD PROPS to the editor for the "Life gained" counter, that's awesome
It also means that the editor watched the whole video
Yea it’s such a good addition!!
They should try this out on different decks.
Maybe "Spells countered" or "Face Damage".
It could feed us interesting info that expands the video.
STRONGLY AGREE

Who is the guy showing the deck at the beginning ?
That's MesaFalconGuy.
