Yup Vortex, Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv and Homeback. All of those she goes pretty low. Pit of Consciousness arguably would be as low as she gets. I think you would both like Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal. It's just her singing to the band tracks. It's a very unique song and very good for checking out the full range of her vocals. If you want to know what she would sound like all cleans in a different genre you could check out Beggars Dance and Prologue together (each is only 21/2 minutes) and Bad Water.

I was never a fan of harsh vocals from anyone. I always thought people vocalized that way because they didn't have good voices. But discovering this band has definetly changed that thought. Now this is one of the bands that actually gives me hope for the future of popular music. Keep checking out their music; maybe you'll agree with me.

Tatiana is a world class vocalist and she comes from the middle of nowhere in the scariest part of Ukraine imaginable. To say the bare minimum, Ukraine isn't exactly known for their prolific number of metal bands and a female fronted one is about as rare as hen's teeth there. That she started her musical career doing these vocals as a self trained teenaged girl literally screaming at cars passing on the highway and into her pillow at home is nothing short of phenomenal.

There is sn insane number of songs Jinjer does that have things you've never heard. "Who is gonna be the one -Live" she goes through pretty much her entire range of growl. To get an idea of the upper end of her cleans, and for yhe theatrics alone, I Speak Astronomy - official video". "Judgement and Punishment -1 take vocal" They do Raggae and Metal, and you can meet her cat in her home studio. Most people will say their Magnum Opus musically is Teacher Teachet, but honestly , every song they do seems to have something about it that you just smile about. Jazz with Metal, some swing elements and metal, and the further back you go you get into raw groove metal. They infuse a groove into everything. I've heard them compared to Mr. Bungle Musically. They are the most interesting band to come out in at least 20 years. You should keep going with them and really, any song is going to be as good as this. They halfass nothing.

Vortex indeed goes low, but not as low as Home Back. However, from musical perspective Vortex might make sense first. It's an interesting piece that keeps you guessing what time signature is at each point while actually being mostly 4/4.
Home Back is a song with a Message (tm), from the 2014 Russian invasion of Ukraine that drove them out of their homes.
It's harsh and rough and in your face for a reason.

Tatiana and the group are so excellent at what they do, really top-notch modern metal. At the forefront of heavy music today, and I think they deserve it. And with Tatiana being self-taught, what a tremendous example of the power of creativity in an artist, to forge their own path.

    @ThePizzablogger 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +10

    Great reaction.
Sounds like you are interested in Tati's low end range on harsh vocals. Pit of Consciousness Live In Kiev for sure.
Vortex has maybe the single lowest moment towards the end of the song...."swirlllll". The last sections of Home Back are very, very low. But, the best canvas for both Tati's super lows and brutal higher screams is definitely Pit of Consciousness Live In Kiev.
Vortex and Home Back are probably best watching the official videos. Both songs are captured excellently in the Hellfest From Home 2021 live footage.
    But, next video should be:
Jinjer -- Pit of Consciousness (Live In Kiev) | Napalm Records.
Fantastic song and Roman's guitar riffs are fantastic in this song.
EDIT: I don't know, the burpee growls in Vortex are very low and parts of Who Is Gonna Be The One live are dirty low. Hard to pick the lowest.....just know she can get lower than Perennial.
    Cheers.

Well we now by now she can get low af, the lowest I think would be the 'Vortex' ending or 'Who is gonna be the one LIVE', an awesome live performance, but as you pointed out, that's not what's their selling point, but rather the combination of a unique sound, tight playing, interesting music overall, her voice and charisma etc.
As for the influences, I remember Otep, Opeth and Lamb of god were what was named here and there. Comment section will know more.
To name but a few recommendations, 'Teacher teacher OMV', 'Vortex OMV', 'I speak astronomy OMV'.

This set at Wacken 2019 was riddled with tech problems. There were multiple stages and multiple performances happening simultaneously. For the first 3/4 of their 45 minute set Tati was hearing another singer through her in-ears and the stage monitors were not working for her. So she was singing without being able to hear herself at all, and it showed. They finally got it worked out, and as you can see, they are a brilliant band live. Very tight. I saw them in New Haven this past year, and they were brilliant. Tati was pitch perfect. Their sound engineer deserves a raise. Whatever they pay him is not enough. They sound so good live.
Edit: The people that don't understand why you would listen to this are simpleton chumps. They are caught up in the screaming, and can't see the forest through the trees. The mixed measure time signatures they use, and constant syncopations are 11/10 expert level difficulty. And the poetic lyrics Tatiana writes are a beautiful as any you will ever hear.

Tati's idols are Amy Winehouse & Gwen Stefani - You can hear the inspiration from the latter in her cleans
Growls - Hearing Otep Shamaya sparked Tati's journey down this path.
Props also have to go to Alexander Antoshin (live sound engineer) for their stellar stage sound - many of their official live vids have a touch of post prod layering added.
Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv is an all time fave for many, (their adopted home city after increasing tensions in the Donetsk region forced them to relocate in 2014).

You can hear her lowest in 'Home Back' - it's a great song, but very taxing emotionally. Also, 'Pit of Consciusness' live in Kiev is magnificent in that department.
Thank you for the reaction and also for educating people on metal. Many people don't understand growls and screams, but Jinjer is a great example of the band that uses these techniques not for the shocking value, but they're anchored in the emotion and meaning of their songs. If some of you don't understand what I mean I would recommend reading lyrics, especially these for 'Pisces' and 'Perennial' are poetry, but also in so many others Tatiana has done an amazing job as a songwriter.

It's called Nightwish, their music is calles 'symphonic metal', their current singer is one of the best singers in the world (certainly the most versatile I have ever heard, but I don't want to give too much away). The band is Finnish, their singer Floor Jansen is Dutch, and the best way to hear them for the first time is "Ghost Love Score" live at Wacken 2013 (it's an official video). My understanding is that her guttural growls are even farther up than the false folds. Hers is an aryepiglottic and uvula rattle. Like a Chewbacca imitation. It's incredibly soft without a mic. They have her on a highly compressed mic, so her load singing and very soft gutturals are the same volume.

Song aside, I've had a lot of trauma and mental health issues, chronic illness, etc. I have friends who aren't as far into healing as I am. I always tell them, the huge mental shift happens when you stop seeing yourself as a victim of trauma and shift to a survivor of trauma mentality. I also usually tell them that your traumatizers still have power over you as long as you're still thinking like a victim. They don't have to be present physically, they're present in your headspace, behaviors, actions. I am no longer a victim; I'm a survivor.

If you are looking to hear someone who has a most beautiful voice, plays different music, is a singer songwriter give Loreena McKennitt a listen-Bonny Portmore, Dantes Prayer, The Stolen Child, The lady of Shallot etc. She plays piano and harp

Please also react to Courtney LePlante from Spiritbox! Her one take of 'Circle with me' would be a good start.
The band's discography is also really rich with interesting texture from vocals + instrumentation. Super great stuff that I know both of you will love!

Please do Teacher Teacher but use captions to colab between the tones of singing to the words as metal actually matches up like that because it is not pop.

You've only scratched ghe surface of their Composition Skills. This is just a fraction of what they do musically. Here's an example, did you ever think reggae and metal work together? If you listen to jinjer (judgement and punishment, one take vocal), it's not only obvious it's how could we have ever separated the two ? Rap and Metal? Not that limp bizkit or rage against the machine, I mean blast beats and hip hop (teacher teacher). Jazz metal, home back. How about Metal and Batmans Gothem City Dark Knight soundtrack (on the top). People say you hit her bottom range in vortex, but really she shows her complete growel range in (whose gonna be the one - live and her dancing). How about Metal with an Operatic ending (I speak Astronomy). That's a must listen for the theater guys. No growers, only cleans, Bad Water. So many hooks and riffs. Jinjer \m/

Or bringing it back to the thread just a bit, there's a youtube video of Jinjers Dru.mer Playing Rock Maninoff. Vlad the Drummer was a classical trained Pianist turned self taught drummer. Eugene yhe bassist, self taught, I believe Roman is too. So is tatiana. Talk about naturals coming together.

Gentlemen, Vortex is interesting and Tatiana actually goes low, but in my opinion, musically, technically, and in terms of vocal choices, Teacher will be a better choice, especially since Tati (diminutive Tatiana) shows a new genre of metal rap. Interested?
