Hello Johan, this combination of speakers delivers indeed a full, rich, classic "British voicing" and beyond to metal, compensating the endemic lack of freequencies of each type, cheers!👌🏼
I have a 1x12 Marshall 1974CX cabinet with the “aged” 20W Celestion G12M (not 25W) and I also put a vintage 1977 30W Celestion G12H 55Hz in my 1x12 Marshall Studio Vintage cab. Running my Marshall Studio Vintage head through both cabs sounds glorious and huge!
The mix of the two totally nails it! Louder always tends to sound better too. Some (nice) L/R panning here for the two speakers listening in stereo. Still can tell they're a good combo.
I appreciate your effort, but you have different mics on each speaker. Even if you could have done 2x2 (like 2x SM57s and 2x MD421's; one SM57/MD421 each on the two M's and one SM57/MD421 each on the two H's) that would have been better. That way we know it's not just the mic. Again, you're doing this out of your time so thank you but it really does make it hard to determine anything.
The G12M combines great with many speakers, it's pure gold! I like combining a G12M Heritage Series with a modern G12T-75 to add thump and a bit of harshness to the top end, while the G12M fills up the midrange. One of the reasons of choosing this they have almost identical sensitivity, so no speaker overpowers the other.
I have often thought how my 73 G12M would sound paired with a Vintage 30 in 2X12. Now you’ve got me thinking G12H is a great option too! Thanks For another great show!
Fantastic video as always, Johan. The only thing I would consider is matching the volumes of the M and H speakers soloed with the combination. I have a 4x12 with this configuration (in a x patern) and is my favourite sounding cabinet
Welcome back, Johan! With the guitar on its own, the combination of both speakers is absolutely the best here - and not as extreme as mixing the M's with JBLs or EV's!
Definitely better when the 2 speakers are combined. I use a Modeler, and checking the Cab Specs against the Real Cab Speaker Specs has helped me dial in a much more accurate sound to what I want. The Modeler Cab Specs could vary widely due to how the unit might be used, such as in the Studio, Home, Live, Headphones, going out to a real Speaker Cab, etc. Thanks
Great video Johan! I love your channel. What combination would you recommend for Blackback's 55Hz? Maybe you will make a similar video? It'd be great! Rock on!!!
Hi, Johan! Glad to know, that you are ok now, but be careful: that virus making some troubles after it's gone. I wish, you will have nothing like that in the future. The best combination is H and M together. Whyle H is more metal sound. Stay healthy and keep yourself safe! Siegfried
That is what I have in a 2x12; one G12H 75Hz Heritage and a newer UK made G12M 25w, it has a sensitivity of 98db which works better then the 96db sensitive G12M heritage.
@@JohanSegeborn I had picked up a beautiful 412 B (birch) and a pair of G12H. The H are harder to find and are going to be a bit pricey. I had been wondering if pairing with G12M would be a mistake or a good Idea. So I decided not to rush, and here you show up like the Knight that you are and make a Video on my exact situation. Johan, I am more than Humbled by this. Its a Rocking Video too. You a great player for Shure.
There were a few riffs where I preferred the M to the H, but I think the H sounded better than the M alone for most of what you played. Both together always sounded better than either one alone though, no matter what the riff!
Hey Johan. Thanks for the demonstration. It's kind of possible for me to compare your sound in this video to mine. I have a cab equipped with G12M75, T1221 '73 greenbacks and G12H75, T1217 greybacks with R/I cone, January 74 and a Marshall Haze amp. Somehow it also gives a different, more rich feedback from the unpotted pickups in my R8; I bet you have tried it, though it's not a part of the recording. I clearly hear a difference in my cab with 4 x G12M to the other. I know, we both know the R/C cone is different from Pulsonic cones and that adds to the equation too. It's would even become a more rich experience if you visit your friend Pleximaster and connect the cab to a JTM45 with a GZ34; maybe a theme for future reference. Ha' det bra, Johan
Awesome 👌 sounds really gr8 you get the best of both worlds. Are these all close mic tests? If so,, Would it be possible to do a room mic test all g12m all g12h then g12h and g12m mixed like you have here.. I am imagining the room sound you are hearing would be quite a difference..
This is so timely for me. I've had a 2x12 loaded with a modern G12M Heritage and a G12H30 55hz heritage for about a year and really like it. I came up with another pair of G12H30 55 hz and a pair of G12H30 75hz, put them all in a 4x12 and like it less. Now I need to try the G12M with each of the 75hz and the 55Hz in the 4x12. I guess I can find out if the 75hz cones offer something better than the 55hz cones.
Without watching the video till the end I guess from my experiance that the Greenbacks will add some nice midrange and make it sound huge. G12H30 speakers love to be paired with speakers that push some mids.
Really interesting, and sweet sweet riffage as always 😎🤘. If you were choosing something to match the G12M25, would it be the G12H30, Marshall G12 Vintage, or Vintage 30?
I wonder if the M and H combo in the SV212 would be a large improvement to the stock speakers. Maybe help it track a little “bigger”. Would be awesome if you’d show us! 🙏😉
The more modern metal riff (2:54, 5:39) sounded better on the G12H but the G12M sound better on more classic rock riffs (5:10, 6:24). Perhaps it's just my ears are accustomed to certain tones for certain styles. or is it that modern riff are more low end focused?
Johan, Thank you for the video. Would it make any different (in the room of course) if you criss crossed the speakers instead of top/bottom? Just curious of your experience.
I cannot disagree with you on this one, Johan. We all just have to follow suit. Would be interesting to hear this comparison in a mix. Maybe you can "invite your brothers" to play bass and drums again.
I guess you put both Ms on top as the Hs are 2 dB louder. I used to have a cab with Hs and Ms in X-pattern and they were perfectly balanced. Probably due to the more prominent mids of the Ms they appeared as loud as the Hs. Great video btw...
It sounds wonderful.it might not be fair to compare 4 speakers with 2 though i suppose the perfect comparison would be with 1m with 1 h then 2 medium then 2 heavy . Anyway clearly they sound great together. Nice heavy riffs too.
Hello Johan, this combination of speakers delivers indeed a full, rich, classic "British voicing" and beyond to metal, compensating the endemic lack of freequencies of each type, cheers!👌🏼
Thanks Vincenzo! Glad to hear that. Cheers!
Thanks, Johan. Incredible as always. With my JTM45 head I use a 2x12 cab with a G12M Heritage and a G12H (55) Heritage. It sounds fantastic!
Thanks H, Im glad to hear that!
Is that a closed 2x12 h Garcia
@@RG-yz8ov yes, it is
I like the combo but I would choose the G12H if only could have one. Johan should be in a band . I like the simple little riffs he does.
Thanks Dan! Makes me glad to hear
The mix together sounds epic. I like the H's by themselves though over the M's. Great video as always Johan. God bless and riff on 👍😎🎸

T75 complements them Greenbacks really well.

What's the HZ of the G12H's used in this video???

Are your G12H30 75hz the Heritage models or the Anniversary models?
thanks for the video! Do you recommend placing the cones obliquely or, as you did, the two G12m above and the two G12h below?
Great combo! Thanks :)
Thanks!
Oof, pretty raunchy Johan!🤘 Complement each other nicely and fill out the sound👌
Thanks Andy!
Nice video. Love heavy Johan!
Thanks Andreas! Good to hear that
I’d love to hear what a 2x 12 setup would sound like only cause that’s exactly what I have. I know a 4x12 sounds massive
Does the G12H sound similar to G12H30 anniversary?
Aren't the mic's on the upper speakers closer to the edge of the cones than the bottom mics? Seems to me that would affect the tone of each.
Or even better, a half stack of each!
Light ,medium ,and heavy magnet!

The more modern metal riff (2:54, 5:39) sounded better on the G12H but the G12M sound better on more classic rock riffs (5:10, 6:24). Perhaps it's just my ears are accustomed to certain tones for certain styles. or is it that modern riff are more low end focused?
Yeah, I think the modern riffs need the low end
How would this combination sound with blackbacks instead of greenbacks? I wonder if it would sound even better in a mix
Greenbacks and Blackbacks sound great together. The extended higher mid of thr blackbacks work great with the relatively scooped Greenbacks
They definitely work well together. In your opinion would the 55hz 12h30 be less harsh but possibly not cutting enough for the 4x12 combination?
Thanks, the Hs are definitely less harsh in the combination but also potentially more cutting since both the punch of H and presence of M is available
Johan,
Thank you for the video. Would it make any different (in the room of course) if you criss crossed the speakers instead of top/bottom? Just curious of your experience.
