Love seeing the real life! I don't know about anyone else but this set of videos has been so educational for us since we are basically 2 years behind you. I can't wait to see more info about the moorings transaction. Don't need the real number, but categories and % would be awesome. Also pitfalls and areas you would change. Can't wait to see ya in Annapolis!
Thanks! we are on a bi-weekly schedule right now, but as soon as we get our upgrades completed and set out to clear waters, we will be moving to weekly publishing. Thanks for following along!
Thanks so much! It was such an incredible moment! Tears of joy after the stress of the past 3 weeks - well, hard work after 6 years! Thanks for watching!
We would have LOVED too but unfortunately, I (Shannon) was still working for the next 2 months and we had two kids graduating high school 2 weeks after closing. We will definitely return!!
.... everything we do is to maintain or carve out the lifestyle we desire .... you sure have made a giant step in attaining your dream life, getting off the bleachers and onto the field ...... thx for the share .. as always .. never stop dreaming just dream bigger .. have fun be safe, save our oceans ....
I'm not much for superstitions but bananas were considered bad luck on boats back in the day. If you can hang them in position like they grow, they generally ripen faster. There are hangers for this purpose usually cheap at grocery stores. Enjoyed finding your channel.
It’s been fun watching your journey to ownership. Before your next trip, I suggest you read up on why bananas are bad luck on boats. It might explain some of your issues. 😊
So to summarize. 11 days of sailing, 1300 miles traveled. Engine off the brackets, shaft bearing cracked, nav screen kaput, cupboard lock loose... oh and the toilets are clogged. Would you like to continue your blissful journey? For no, press any key. 😀
I’m on a similar journey. Probably buying my boat in the BVI next month. In hurricane season without experience. I’d love to pick your brain on things you wish you’d known.
Congrats on the upcoming purchase!! Our video next Sunday will be a wrap up of our experience with the purchase. We are going to be answering some questions that have been posed to us in the comments. If you have any specific questions, let us know. Thanks for following our journey!
Of course too late now, but to ripen bananas put them in a paper bag that is loosely closed. If you have an apple, or avocado that is ripe it will help. The reason is that they ripen faster with ethylene gas (which they produce when ripe).
We are always learning! Living in a first world country, we have always bought ripe bananas and we always kept apples away from bananas due to them over ripening. There were no ripe bananas in the grocery in the BVI, so we bought the green ones. We never knew that they were so hard before they ripened up. Thanks for following our journey and the great tip!
Well done, weirdly I love to bake onboard - think it’s a ‘having time’ thing, no cardboard boxes though lol. Need to talk about the gopro , I have the first edition prob time to upgrade, and Shannon do you remember our conversation about make up????
Yeah, It was the provision in the BVI. We think the weevils were in the packaging when we bought it as the other ones did not have them. We have a couple of Go Pros. a 5, 8 and 9. The 8 an 9 are a huge improvement from the 5. I vaguely remember the conversation but can't recall the actual discussion. Good to hear from you!
I don't understand why you'd be so concerned with putting stress on the rig with only 10 knots of wind. That boat can handle a heck of a lot more. People are crossing oceans with that lagoon.
Yes, the boat can handle a lot of stress. The issue was that with the wind direction, wind speed and waves coming from 2 directions. When the boat rolled to one side, there was not enough wind to keep the sail taut and it would flog then slam when the boat came back over and the wind filled it. This was happening over and over. We had minimal supplies onboard for and we did not want to chance a piece of the rigging breaking or chafing though lines. So we decided to err on the side of caution. It's going to be a learning process! Thanks for following our journey!!
great videos! Just watched all of them to date - love your determination and positive attitudes! I hope your boat prep work is going well and looking forward to see more of your progress! Now that you're this far in does the $4k/month budget seem reasonable still? Does that include things like insurance and your boat mortgage as well?
Hi! Thanks for watching! Great questions! We plan on making a video about this soon. Yes, so far so good with the budget! Will see how long that lasts!😊
No, they were banana's. We finally were able to eat on on day 14 after purchasing them. Nothing like we have ever seen in Florida! Thanks for watching!
No, the discharge is gravity induced. There are 3 tanks, 2 on Starboard and one on port. all of them are just under the main deck. The electric toilets macerate and pump the waste up to the top of the tanks. There is a valve under the tank that leads to a large thru-hull. When the tanks are full, you open the thru-hull and then open the valve and the tank empties. When sailing offshore, most let it wide open the entire time. Bill was able to dislodge a bit of stuff and we left it open until we were 3 miles from shore. With the waves rocking the boat, it shifted what ever was holding the waste in and emptied. Alternatively, we have deck fittings for pump out and use that while cocked or moored. The saga with the heads is only beginning though! More to come on that subject in future episodes. Thanks for the message and for following our journey!
@@SailingParadiseFalls .. Are there air vents on the tanks ? might be blocked causing a vacume in the tank not allowing the fluid to flow out.. I skippered luxury liveaboard dive boats in the EgyptsSinai Red Sea back in the mid 90s so i feel your pain. All the very best ....

Awww, thank! I needed to hear that! Boat projects have been especially depressing this week. Thanks so much for watching!
That would be the best part of passage-making, is the unplugging and not having to wear shoes the whole time....

@@SailingParadiseFalls I’ll keep my eye out for it. You gave me hope after sailing it back after the 50 hour training.
That makes my day! You’ll do great!
Even on catamarans, you need lee cloth to be held in your bunk and not roll so much. Worth looking into.
Good advice! I’ll see how I could rig that up for our queen size wall to wall bed.
Way to go guys !!
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
cut thick swatches of skin off the bananas and put them in a brown paper back until they get dark, and make bananas foster!
Thanks for the tip! Rob’s specialty is bananas foster! His is even better than Brennans in New Orleans!

Were the bananas actually plantains?
No, they were banana's. We finally were able to eat on on day 14 after purchasing them. Nothing like we have ever seen in Florida! Thanks for watching!
It's called fresh bananas. Not the shit we get in the US sitting on container ships for weeks, then back of store.
Off to a good start. Is there not a pump on the black water tank ?
No, the discharge is gravity induced. There are 3 tanks, 2 on Starboard and one on port. all of them are just under the main deck. @@SailingParadiseFalls By thru-hull you mean seacock?
Put a (ripe) citrus fruit (lime, lemon, orange) on any fruit and they will ripen a lot faster.
Good to know! Never had issues to ripen faster as usually bananas seem to turn brown on the way home from the grocery store! Thanks for watching!
put unripe bananas in a large paper bag and secure with a clothes clip!
Thanks for the tip! None of us had just never seen bananas that took over 2 weeks to ripen! Thanks for watching!
I don't like the open kitchen, if it was u-shaped it would be easier to brace yourself against something
