This is an answer I received: "So, the short answer is no. In terms of peripheral membrane proteins glycoproteins, there are different signal transduction pathways going on in the two faces of bilipid membrane. Also, the lipid composition would be different as they have to deal with different environments. And then you have the primary cilium which extends up to 25uM outside and emanating from the centrioles/centrosomes. In terms of studying inside vs outside, this could be done in terms of permeabilization techniques. In IF microscopy, after fixation, you have the option to permeabilize whether or not you want to study internal or external proteins. Hope that helps!"
doesn't meiosis occur before the sperm and egg meet? If so then why do you have mom the chromosomes labeled as mom 1, dad 1, mom 2, etc.? otherwise video was extremely helpful and very clear!!
+astrocat Keep in mind that life is a cycle. Pretend a woman named Jessica has a mother named Susan and a father named Paul. Meiosis will create egg cells within Jessica's body. But remember that Jessica inherited her chromosomes from her parents Susan and Paul. Therefore, Jessica has maternal chromosomes (those inherited from Susan) and paternal chromosomes (those inherited from Paul). I hope that helps.

The cell layer facing the outside world, just like us facing the external world and the other side is facing the inner world. Both has to deal with a totally different environment. Are they still alike or not?

In sperm cells do we have 23 chromosomes or 22 pair of autosomes and a x or y chromosome...???..
Some sperm cells have 22 single autosomes and a single X chromosome...
some have 22 single autosomes and a single Y chromosome.
