  • In this video, we're laying the floor in our 2013 Mercedes Sprinter (144WB). We plan to use it throughout the harsh Canadian winter, so we laid on a 1" thick layer of rigid board insulation. We got a lot of our guidance from the amazing people over at www.faroutride.com/floor-installation. They provide a lot of great information on how to do everything, but I've also listed our steps below if you're interested.
If you want to follow along on our van build, be sure to keep an eye on this youtube channel! I'll try and upload as much as I can along the way!
00:10 - Laying strips of closed cell foam (cheap camping mats from Mountain Warehouse) to even out the surface of the floor and prevent any air gaps between the metal and rigid board insulation.
00:30 - Cutting the 3/4" thick plywood to be used as our subfloor.
00:41 - Laying the 1" thick rigid foam insulation to keep our feet nice and toasty, followed by the plywood to make sure the vinyl planks have something to rest on.
1:00 - Cleaning up the mess (for the 10000th time...)
1:11 - Spraying some Gaps 'N' Cracks foam to make sure everything stays in place.
1:22 - Cutting the excess Gaps 'N' Cracks to keep the edge nice and flush
1:43 - Laying our first plank of vinyl flooring!
2:31 - Sealing up the cracks in the subfloor using aluminium tape and laying the rest of the planks in place (it takes longer than you think...)
3:15 - Laying the final piece!
    Cheers!
