OMG Jana your talk has literally changed my life... thank you!!! You put words right in front of me that were living deep inside & you brought in forward so beautifully. So honest. I think we all know this, it's so sad that we forget... thank you for helping me find my moments.
I have "real conversations on real topics with real people" *online* all the time. Real friends. Also, it's disingenuous to imply that only online "likes" give us dopamine hits, when in fact we have always been social creatures and get the same hits from someone liking us in person, just at a slower rate. I find this to be a well-intentioned but superficial and ultimately inaccurate talk (yes, I understand, ymmv - Your Mileage May Vary).
I had to watch this for an assignment, and her neuroscience is definitely inaccurate and/or oversimplified. Plus she keeps pronouncing "parasympathetic" wrong. Not the point of her video, but it bothered me
Amen. Exactly how I feel about social media. That's why I got off of it in the summer of 2022.
Such a nice speech! Felt so connected towards it 🙏🏼

Would you count watching this as social media? good talk though.
