- The Beretta Model 21A Bobcat was introduced in 1984 and has been a popular Tip Up Barrel pocket pistol for over 40 years. The "Covert" has a threaded barrel and perfect host for a suppressor. Thanks to Nate at Gun Zone Deals and Silencer Central for their help. @gunzonedeals3261 @SilencerCentral @BerettaCommunity
Big thanks to Fiocchi USA for Supplying our ammunition! @FiocchiUSA

Of the ten years plus watching ALL videos about shooting with suppressor, this by far the most real deal as it gets.
Thanks Greg!
Fifteen years ago, I had a model 950-B In 25ACP, should have never sold It. Thanks Don. 👍🇺🇸
I have always considered the Bobcat and the Tomcat great little guns. I have both, and in all the years I have owned them (25 years) they have never had an issue. Great video as always!
TH-cam video found Sun. 3/24 @ 6:22pm PST. Beretta 21A Bobcat Covert purchase @ 6:44pm PST. ETA 5-7 days. Owner of 4 Berettas. What a country , God Bless America!
A Man of action! 😁
Hearing him say he's not really a big gun collector literally made me LOL.
He's probably got a shipping container full at least.
Especially if you’re an American. 🙂
He meant in the black market
Great little pistol/suppressor combo. I have both shown in this video. Just a lot of fun. Banish also produces the 22K and 22K V2 that pair with the 21A perfectly!
Great video Sootch! It was such a pleasure to meet you this past weekend at the Gathering! Like I said I’ve been watching your channel for as long as I can remember! Thanks for always giving out great content!
I used to have one of the 21A. Nice little gun. Wish I still had it.
Yeah. They're excellent guns. Would choose a 21A over the Covert model though. Not a fan of the longer barrel, even if it can hold a suppressor. It's a pocket gun meant for self defense, not a target gun. (...and if you're going to go through the trouble of having a giant suppressor hanging off your gun, then why bother with a pocket gun?) There are countless firearms that are better suppressor hosts than the 21A (or the 3032).

I am reading the early James Bond Novels, and before Bond was carrying the PPK. He was carrying the Beretta .25. A predecessor to this little guy.
Spending my money again Sootch, great review so!
Thanks for stopping by Doug, This is a lot of fun my friend.
Lovely little model. And the coyote tan color is very nice too.
I don't consider these to be a gun that require Cerakote, because they're not known to rust... but it's still a good upgrade for many guns. It's the king of all rust/corrosion preventatives and it's very durable against abrasion/scratches. It really depends on how well it was applied though. I've seen Cerakoted carry guns that are flawless after years of abuse... and I've seen guns that look like snow when they're fired, because the Cerakote is flaking off the gun just from being shot.
I found i'm in love with those tiny Beretta mouse gun .. i just love them!
A threaded barrel only half makes it covert, the thing they missed is the ability to lock the slide to give you the option to make it a single shot break barrel. Then you could make it really quiet and practical for humane dispatch.
Few guns have a slide disabler. Some folks remove safety and use the safety lever itself as a slide disabler. No slide movement then.
I picked up the blued version with black plastic grips, spring 2023. It should go well with my Silencerco Sparrow. Good review as always.
Had exceptional performance from the Beretta 21a and 950.
Nice review. I've owned several of these over the years. They are great little pocket guns . Perfect for plinking during walks in the woods. The flip up barrel is a great feature so that the gun can be carried/stored empty yet loaded quickly. My only gripe is that years ago (20 maybe?) There was a well documented rash of the black oxide models having stoppages. ( The blued ones ran fine. It was only the black oxide that had issues.) If I bought an older one, I'd want to test fire it first.
Fun! Love these little Berettas.
What did you mean “great little gun, sad they will be discontinued?” Around 15:45
I have the 22, 25, and a SS 32. Fun, easy to run. I use my 32 as a carry at times
These handle so much better with the magazine finger extension, as does the 3032. You can get a full hand on the grip barely sacrificing the CC advantage.
Just bought one today..
This is a great candidate for a backup ankle weapon. 😊
Great review. Gotta get one
Just wish they weren’t so damn expensive for a little gun lol
Beretta is discontinuing the 21A? Are they adding a new 22lr or is this the end of the line?
Muy buena!!!!! saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷💪🏻
Gotta get me one of those .32 models to go with my M21A
Good video, as usual.
Looks handy, wish I could have one
🇺🇸
I think they're excellent guns... but I just have trouble imagining why anyone would want a suppressor on a 21A. Never considered it a range gun and making it larger kind of defeats the purpose of being a pocket gun. I wish they're come out with some new smaller and/or lighter models. Might be nice for those who only have one gun, because it's an excellent self defense gun, but being .22 it can be a good range gun to shoot for cheap. I just don't see that being the case very often though. If you think I'm wrong, I'm open to suggestions on why it's a useful feature and/or one worth having.
I can see where somebody who was a operator type, might want something like this. Taking out a guard dog or a sentry.
A lot of new .22 suppressors are coming out with short/long configurations. A 21a with a short suppressor and a little squirt of water into the suppressor every 20 rounds or so is something you need to hold and fire to appreciate. It fits in a compact iwb holster with the suppressor attached.
It may be small, I don’t want to be shot by it 😮
Nice assassins gun!
The caliber is too small.
@@jo6u22lr is reported to be what is used a lot in hits because it does its job without a mess or a pass through.
Really it's a kids gun. Fun and hearing safe for adults though.
@@Jason-fm4my Are you talking to me?
@@Luther79345Yes. It's my take. I don't claim you're necessarily wrong, I just _suspect_ the noise part is what most owners appreciate.
There was a rumor in NYS that a Beretta 21A was a "gift of choice" to graduates of the New York State Police Academy, as an off-duty weapon. I don't know if this is still the case.
If I can choose just one suppressed pistol, it's easily the HK MK23. This, however, is nice!
P17
There's a near endless list of guns that make better suppressor hosts than these. I'm surprised they even bothered. There are people that will buy them though and put suppressors on them... and there are probably even more people that will buy them and never even bother to put a suppressor on it.
Hood ornament cancels out the useless sights but yeah, it's fun collecting these Lil gems. Is that Brownells Aluma hide finish ?
Got my eye on the 30X Just In Case version.
What's different about the 30x Just in Case version compared to the 3032? I thought the 30x had a threaded barrel... but I saw that the Just In Case version doesn't. (didn't know there were different versions). I love the 21A and think .22lr is an excellent self defense round... but the 3032/30x is also. Being the same size and more powerful, it's a difficult choice. The thing I don't like about the 3032 (and probably the 30x) is that they made the slide so much thicker and heavier... and it ended up not even fixing the problem, but they stuck with it, making the guns much fatter and harder to conceal for no reason at all. People still couldn't shoot the 72gr ammo or heavier without cracking the frame. I know with the 30x that they beefed up the frame slightly to stop if from cracking... but I hope they went back to the thinner slides (since they thicker one's are pointless). If I bought a new 3032 today, I would go and buy an old 3032 thin slide and put that on.
We need the new bobcat 20x review!
I want one of those where I can get one
Tactical peanut butter, looks nice in Italian!
Do you have inside information? Nothing on Beretta's website suggests it's being discontinued.
His comment about Beretta discontinuing it is confusing, at best. I don’t believe he meant Beretta is discontinuing the Model 21A Bobcat. I believe he meant Beretta may have discontinued this particular version, the Covert version. It would not be that unusual for that to be the case. The basic gun stays the same (so there’s no changes in factory tooling required) but various versions have different combinations of basically cosmetic “finishes” - to include things that are relatively easy to mix and match. Coatings, grip panels, other frame finishes, perhaps even frame materials stainless steel verses carbon steel, or even a threaded tilt-up barrel would be a relatively easy/minor swap out. Sig does this all the time with their P238 & P938 lines.
While he refers to it multiple times as the Covert model, the model shown here is the FDE, not the Covert. That's not really important, since both models are still shown as current products on Beretta's website. I wasn't under the impression that he meant the 21a was being discontinued.
I thought they were discontinuing the Covert model, because they came out with the 30x... but the 30x is .32acp (3032) and not the 21a. I thought I heard someone say that an older model of Beretta was being discontinued since the 30x came out... but I'm sure they're not going to discontinue the 21a or the 3032.
@@larrysfarris I agree why would Beretta discontinue the regular bobcat!! Personally I have no need for a suppressor especially that long!! Plus they cost as much as the pistol!! Besides you'd have to find a donor pistol to swap parts because Beretta doesn't sell separate barrels or even grips that comes on different bobcats 🤷
Where can one get an aftermarket threaded barrel?
Thesilencerstore and midwest gun works both sell them. They're both out of stock now though. You may just be able to buy a threaded barrel at midway and/or brownell's too since they're made by Beretta now.
Forza 🇮🇹 Italia!! 👌 Awesome ❤️ 💯
You're not Italian 🤌🤌🤌
I was super interested in the subsonic ammo, where did that footage go
Most .22LR ammo manufacturers that produce what they refer to as a “Standard” velocity round, consider their ‘standard velocity’ ammo to be subsonic. That is, the fps velocity isn’t sufficient to break the sound barrier, thus you don’t get that high pitch crack that ‘high velocity’ (or “hyper velocity”) rounds produce. Ammo that is advertised as being subsonic (or “Quiet” rounds) is mostly advertisement gimmick. It can be a little less noisy due to propellant loading at initial ignition but so are Colibri (CB) rounds. Users need to exercise caution so they don’t wind up with ammo that’s not strong enough to cycle their action (or worse, lead to squib rounds). As long as the rounds aren’t supersonic, the suppressor will do what it was designed to do.
Thats true from short barrels. Standrd load .22lr can absolutely break the sound barrier out of a rifle
❤ that canned heat❤
WOW!!! a 21a that seems to not😮 be a jam-o-matic.....wish mine functioned half that well.
how many rounds have you put through yours? i have thought about getting one of these for pocket carry to join my lcp max an sigp365 for pocket carry rotation lol
Didn't Taurus USA have a version of this design? The PT-22?
I ditched my .25ACP Beretta years ago, the frames crack. No regrets selling it. 😅 This is interesting because of suppressor host but good for what, I don’t know 🤷♀️
I've never heard of a .25 Beretta frame cracking. Only the .32acp frames with the heavy ammo. If you don't shoot the 72gr+ ammo with it though, they never crack. I'm also assuming that your own frame didn't crack (because you sold it and also didn't say so).
Did you ever accept ammunition from anyone that you know who hand loads? Sometimes you get some real hot loads which means over pressure.
I have a seecamp 32 I wonder how it compares
Awesome video nice model 21 a Bearcat 22 thanks for sharing sootch00
For a suppressor host…get a Ruger Mark IV…you wont be sorry.
It won't conceal in your pocket, like this will.
@@chrissewell1608 if you are carrying a 22 for self defense, you have bigger issues then fitting a gun in your pocket 😂😂
@@1stidvet553 technically it's the most deadly caliber by deaths
The sights are a bit too low 😅
It would have been nice if they’re able to put a micro red dot on the top slide
Can you take the end piece off the end of the barrel If your not using a suppressor?
What is the price on the market? Not new?
I would imagine the Zipper method is intended, therefore no improved sights. Bond, James Bond, would not need them. lol. Seriously however, great review as always.
Thanks Josie!
Don't have very many rounds to be wasting though. By the time you get on target for shot placement you'll be out of ammo.
@deucedeuce1572 I was only joking, but with the Zipper method ALL your rounds should be on target. Starting at the groin or stomach and then stacking each successive shot above that, ending in the mouth/nose/eye area. I have read that it was used by Mossad during their Olympic reprisal assassinations. They used a Beratta .22, although I believe it was a model 71.
How much more powerful is the 25 acp over 22lr?
I wish you did a collab with Hickok45
I don't understand why they made a gun made with a suppressor option and not have supressor high sights
This isn’t a target pistol. Over-sized sights on a pocket pistol only add snag points
I've always thought these looked like fun guns, but as a left-handed shooter these seem like just about every design choice makes it work poorly for me. I still think they're cool even if they're not great for me, though!
Is this pistol still made?
I have one and a suppressor currently in jail. Can't wait to get it!
Obviously, you can’t be dangerous. What are you in the can for?
Cost
If I design this kind of pocket pistol, I can guarantee that the volume will be reduced to only about the size of its grip when the amount of bullets is close.
Suppressors are NOT cheap!
No, but try silencer central and you can pay with a flex plan. Makes it a little less painful.
Esse modelo eu tenho vontade de ter também! ❤👏🏻👏🏻
No wonder the Bobcat is being discontinued as it's asking price is now 650!! WTF Beretta!!!?? Throw in another hundred and you can buy a 92FS or the cheetah!! When sootch did the 21a video i went out and found one. Two years ago it cost 500!!! So what is to take it's place... the Tomcat!!??🤷 Or is that going away too..😮
It's a lot easier to maintain profit margins in an inflation-riddled economy with low manufacturing cost plastic framed pistols.
@@ExtremeSquared it's allot easier for people to turn their noses and not buy it or any other Beretta!!

People should be aware that Beretta released a lot of these with out-of-spec wood grips. With the grip being a mechanical component, their trigger mechanisms fail. I think they are still clearing inventory of these bad models -- it's been an ongoing problem for years. The wood grips look good from the outside but are designed poorly even when dimensions are within spec.
The feeling of pulling the trigger is not very good, although I have only played with toy guns in China.😂

The fact they don't have suppressor height sights on a gun that's only use is to suppress is so stupid 😂
It’s not a target pistol. It’s a pocket pistol with a treaded barrel. Suppressor height sights will snag on clothing and it’s pretty easy to hit targets suppressed with just point and shoot accuracy.

I've had one for over 35 years and they are great little guns.
I know many people that have them and I don't know a single person who is unhappy with theirs. Several have had them for decades too. My father's had one since the late 80's if I'm not mistaken. Carried it every day for decades and shot it fairly often (to make sure it's in good, working condition). He got a new one recently and it's every bit as good as his last one.
Almost sounds like a 1980’s cartoon villain! “You’ll pay for this!!” 🤣
