Awesome video, followed the instructions and it worked perfectly. I soaked the insert but then thought to use a heat gun once the rubber insert had cooled. The heat gun can save you time. Just apply light heat from about a foot away from the rail insert as you are inserting and pressing it into the rail. Be careful not to apply too much heat or the rail gets too soft to work until it cools a little. The thin wooden spoon works great but I switched to an automotive plastic body tool and it was even more suitable. Just thought I would confirm that this was a great video and I proved out his method and found some slight improvements that might help others. Happy boating!!

Thanks! Did exactly as you showed and with an extra pair of hands had my 25ft Center Console finished in under an hour! Hot water and the wooden spatula are the key.

Nice video, Danielle "wife" pointed this out as we were installing our rub bummer. Gave us the courage to get our rub bumper installed. Thank You

Thank you - this really helped me. Although there was so much space between the cooler of hot water and the rubrail of our sailboat that it was cold by the time it got up there, I was able to use a hair dryer and a wooden spatula and get it done by myself.

Perfect how-to, I suggest adding a little bit of dish soap to the water and it'll ease install.

hey, do you think it would work better if Vaseline was used along the top and bottom ridges of the rub rail? I have to install one and am looking for the easiest way for one person to do it. thanks!

+G. Hedrick I do not see how vaseline or petroleum jelly would hurt. In anything you would think it would keep the rubber soft but who knows what it will do under UV rays. Just wash it off of the exposed surface after maybe. Truth be told it was not very hard to do with just hot water. Good luck.
