    Ditto on this being a helpful video! In particular the trick where he pins the vinyl temporarily so as to all stretching it tight over most of each side. Not sure I'll have all his extra hands on deck when I do my replacement :( But getting the long sides right is a big step in any case.

    Great video i wondered about that little tab on which way it went ,as the rub railis screwed to the boat does it flare out and sit against the hull ? .My last boat had this done cost me a packet i always thought you needed special tools and skills to do this but watching a pro makes it look easy and the tips are gold like stretching and anchoring it temporarily guess my new project boat gets a new rub rail now .

    Great product and vid. Where do you apply the silicone?

    • @TACOMarine
      @TACOMarine  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Anthony! For water prevention, all you really need is to run a bead of marine-grade silicone down the center where the screws go underneath the rub rail, or you can apply to the top and bottom of the rub rail after the install is complete. It's really a personal preference. On this boat, after the wrap was installed, the silicone was applied to the top and bottom. Please let us know if you have any other questions! #TrollTheEdge

    Mark, I'm looking for a rub rail for my 13ft 1973 Boston Whaler. I need a rub rail that overlaps the edge to cover the corner. Does this rub rail do that?

    WHERE/WHEN DID YOU USE ANY OF THE 4200?...NICE JOB ON THE INSTALL OF THE RUB RAIL, GETTING READY TO PURCHASE/INSTALL ONE, KINDA LIKE THIS NEW RAIL YOU HAVE...QUESTION, WOULD IT NOT BE BETTER TO PREDRILL THE RUBRAIL ON THE GROUND BEFORE THE INSTALL ( I WOULD LIKE A SCREW EVERY 6 INCHES) , STREACH IT OUT IN THE SUN LET IT GET SOFT... DO YOU HAVE A SERVICE CREW THAT WILL INSATLL THE RAIL? LOCAL IN FT LAUDERDALE THANKS
    THANKS

      Hi Richard. For water prevention, all you really need is to run a bead of marine-grade silicone down the center where the screws go underneath the rub rail, or you can apply to the top and bottom of the rub rail after the install is complete. On this boat, after the wrap was installed, the silicone was applied to the top and bottom. SuproFlex also comes pre-drilled, so you don't need to pre-drill any holes on the ground prior to install. For installing the Rub Rail, we don't have a service from TACO, but most boat yards, marine service centers or dealers could probably help you with it. If you do it yourself, we have a Tech Support team that can provide guidance, if you have any questions. You can contact them here: tacomarine.com/technical-support

    Looking at the rail does the tab go on the bottom? Also i have a tight sharp corner at stern will the rail make it? Thank you

    • @TACOMarine
      @TACOMarine  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Walt. Yes, the leg of the Rub Rail tends to go on the bottom. SuproFlex should definitely be able to bend around the tight corner. If you're in an area with warmer weather this time of year, you could even set the Rub Rail out in the sun to heat up for added flexibility, or, if needed, use a heat gun on the corner to slowly heat the Rub Rail. We have builders who use SuproFlex on sharp corners and 90º S curves, so it is definitely possible. When in doubt, you could also contact our Tech Support team at this link: tacomarine.com/technical-support and they would be very happy to help out via phone or e-mail with additional questions and concerns. For the month of December, we are running a 15% off promo with code HOLIDAY15 at tacomarine.com/buytacodirect. We sell SuproFlex Kits and also SuproFlex in long lengths.

    How does the rub rail go ? You know how one side looks thicker than the other one ? Does it go up or looking down

    • @TACOMarine
      @TACOMarine  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your question. Traditionally with SuproFlex, the wider side with the leg is on the bottom. Check out our website page here to see the profile image in our recommended orientation. tacomarine.com/suproflex-rub-rail

    • @TACOMarine
      @TACOMarine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bill. Yes, we recommend 4200 as well. 5200 is doable, but that is more permanent and would be difficult to remove. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    When laying out DO NOT unravel as he did. Set it on edge on the floor and roll it out like a wheel, you will be done in 30 seconds and zero kinks.

    I bought the V11-9960 and they don't include enough #8 screws if you install a screw every 4" where the factory pre-configured holes in the rub rail are. Of course the instructions don't tell you to use every other pre-configured hole, so you only find out after you have 1/2 the boat rail done and you now have source another 70 stainless screws. Also, you don't get the counter sunk screws for the end caps, you'll to get 4 of those also. Either they should make it clear in the instructions or this YT video not to place a screw every 4" or they should include enough screws to do both sides and the end caps. I like the rail but this screw thing is a major screw job.

    • @TACOMarine
      @TACOMarine  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Porschmn, I am sorry you did not receive enough screws. We found out that some kits were missing enough screws after we changed the pre-drilled holes from 8" down to 4". It increased the number of holes. Please contact our warranty team via the form linked below, they can send you the hardware you need to complete your install. We apologize for this inconvenience!

    What about the silicone that was need. I feel this was incomplete video. More clarification on the nose of bow too. And what about bow riders. The securing on stern does really apply because the windows are in the way. Im wanting to get this product but need more clarification. And screws should come with it. Seems like you got in a hurry with the video process.

      Hi Travis. Thanks for reaching out. Yes, screws come with the SuproFlex Rub Rail Kit, as well as End Caps. For water prevention, all you really need is to run a bead of marine-grade silicone down the center where the screws go underneath the rub rail, or you can apply to the top and bottom of the rub rail after the install is complete. It's really a personal preference. On this boat, after the wrap was installed, the silicone was applied to the top and bottom of the Rub Rail. It sounds like you have very specific technical questions about SuproFlex, and it would be good for us to get more specific details about your inquiries.
