That's a fair amount of duties hopefully, nothing ever does go wrong. Because I don't think you're trained in the art of fixing everything on the lighthouse, would be a bit ridiculous if you could though.
Have you heard of the term 'Jack of all trades but master of none.'? That is kind of what it is like to be a Lighthouse Keeper. You really do need to know a little about everything and be able to keep things in working order. Oil changes, light mechanical work, construction, landscaping....and on and on, are all things that you do have to know and understand. Of course if something major does happen, you are not expected to do it alone. Fixing a clogged toilet would be our responsibility but an nonfunctional septic system, they would send in the professionals.
There are two people on station who work but much of the time I do work alone. It depends on who you are working with. Some keepers prefer to work alone and other like working as a team.
he said in a different comment that you go through some certifications, they test to see if you’re fit for the job, and you’re a citizen. i’m not exactly sure other than that, but you could use google or something probably
There is a bit of a process to get the job, it is government after all but it is not impossible and they are really looking for relief keepers right now so it is pretty easy to get it. If you are really eager to get in, email me (using the about page) and I can point you in the right direction.
It's awesome I wish it was my life
Dreamlidfe, introverts paradise. I wish i lived like this, even if no one paid me lol.
