@@SonyasPrep by the way In Tunisia we make homemade pasta with sour dough starter . We use that pasta to make soup with it. Called hlalem and the sourdough starter gives the soup a delightful sour taste as if you put lemon juice in the soup. So yummy. Didn’t have it since I was a kid . I’m 37 now lol . I’m gonna try to make your sourdough recipe and make that pasta again .
Since we liked the chicken so much , I decided to make your brisket recipe today. And it was amazingly delicious. Can’t wait to try the rest of your recipes.
Hi Sonya, i've been wanting to try my hand at sourdough forever. I'm in 12th grade and love cooking. I came across your channel before Rosh Hashana and I made your potatoes, rice, and pomegranate chicken for my family for the Chag. Everyone loved it. Keep sending us yummy and easy recipes. We love your clear instructions and your food is sooo tasty!

Bravo Sonya! In Germany we eat a lot of rye bread, this you should try. It stays moist for days and is really yummi. You need a rye starter (can start with your wheat starter). The bread recipe is 400g rye starter, 600g flour (Mix 200g rye and 400g bread flour), 18g salt and 360g water. Dough is really sticky, after 3h strech and form and let rest in a basket for 2h. Bake in a Pot on highest heat for 10min, lower Temperature to 200celsius, 1h Total baking

Although I'm in the middle of a move, I'm planning on making starter and attempting sourdough boules as soon as possible. I have a couple of questions should you have time...lol! It's actually about your challah which I've made for years. I heard on one video how you prefer the six strand loaf - me too! It became addictive practicing and perfecting! I have been binge watching your channel and have really enjoyed watching you and learning more about your faith and your love of food. I would love to see what you pack your children for lunches.
They look amazing and I had absolutely no idea what was involved in making this bread! It’s a few day process - you have some patience! I wanted to ask in your food prep videos about the aluminum pans and lining them. You are using parchment paper right? What made you start doing that and do you feel it’s much easier on clean up? Do you rinse and reuse the pans? I love the idea especially since when cooking so much it’s exhausting to have to deal with so many serving dishes afterwards especially after Shabbat you want to relax with your family. I’ve been watching another Jewish mom from Texas and I enjoy seeing the different recipes you both make.
I really wish you would open a restaurant. I would certainly cross the pond to eat there! You have mentioned that you have a job as well as being a wife and mother. I would love to know what you do for a living, are you a chef? Keep the videos coming, we love them.

Thank you Sonya! I finally had success making starter and bread following your process. I have tried at least 4 times in the past to make starter without success. Your process was easy and your video very helpful!
Hello Sonya. You're a great cook. So I'm wondering if it would be possible to make a video showing your favorite kitchen and pantry staples from which you can make many different dishes. Thanks.
I love your videos - I have been trying and enjoying cooking again. My kids are grown and I miss their “help.” But they were the fussiest eaters - might be why I enjoy cooking more now. I bake a lot of yeast breads and am trying sourdough now. Would love to see how you make sourdough pizza - after Pesach. Thank you!
Waw. Très beau résultat du pain. Merci pour la recette, je chercherai la traduction en français Waw. Very nice result of the bread. Thank you for the recipe, I will look for the French translation
You are an inspiration. I don’t even know many women who keep Shabbos like this, because of work! But do other things such as have 2 dishwashers to keep dishes separate or pick up kosher foods to eat instead of cooking. You have a lot of energy! My kids are getting older now, and I would like to instill some traditions for Shabbos as we haven’t been very observant since we don’t live in an area with many Jewish people. I love making bread so I will start with this and some of your other recipes. You have a soothing way about you so hopefully I could become a little more soothed by practicing a routine.
It’s definitely harder when you aren’t a part of a community…. But there is so much you can do to instill small traditions that will be lasting memories.
@@SonyasPrep yes, I agree! Your tips could help so many busy women become more organized and healthy. I already bought the sourdough starter kit and some better storage containers to make food ahead. Thanks for the inspiration :)
Hi sonja you said to feed starter after i put some into the container in the fridge.like to know how much flour and water must i ad to feed it.thanks so much❤
Love this have you tried no knead bread where you don’t need the sourdough just 3 cups flour 1/4 teaspoon of yeast 1 teaspoon salt and 1 and 3/4 cup of Luke warm water mix all together let rise for 3-6 hours put pan in oven 450 for 30 min while that’s getting hot take the dough out on parchment paper shape into ball cut your lines cover let rise for 30 then put in oven 30 min covered then take cover off bake another 20-30 min done taste same as sourdough without waiting for a starter.. but I am going to try your sourdough starter
Generally, parchment papers are used for temperatures upto 450F. It seems it is safe to use at 500F and not burn. Which brand do you use? Thank you for sharing this video and also linking everything!
Hello Sonya ! Thanks a lot for sharing all your passion for sourdough starter and bread ! Question : when you let the dough 6 hours during the night ,what happens if I leave it 7 or 8 hours ?? Will it rise too much ? Thanks for your answer !
Thanks so much for sharing! I never knew you can make bread so easily without a bread machine or a mixer with dough hook! I'm definitely going to try this because I loved making bread and love sourdough. In the South, this bread is commonly called "Friendship Bread" as we will share our starter with a friend who wants to make their own sourdough. It is a thoughtful gift to give some home made soughdough bread with a bit of the starter done up in a nice basket. PS You only want to use the oil for the final kneading/shaping. It does work wonderfully well.
I came across your channel and really enjoy the videos. I want to try making sourdough but im wondering if i can make it in a glass pyrex dish? or do i need a dutch oven? how big? and the bennetins can I use a plastic bowl? thanks in advance
I would make sure that any dish that you will be using to babe can withstand the heat. I don’t think Pyrex can but I may be wrong. I use 5-7qt pots. Yes you can use a plastic bowl as a banneton.
The best recipe and method I've come across. Thankyou for the detailed video. My sourdough came out the best it ever has and looks exactly like yours 😲😍 Even re-vived my 18 month old starter and it worked perfectly 🥰. Thanks again
Looks amazing!!! I really really want to do this but I don't have Dutch ovens, I can see this is going to be an investment, Dutch ovens look expensive 😬. I'm sure that it's worth it, but for me that means more procrastination lol
Hello,Sonya! Thank you for your wonderful tutorial.I got it from a freind, who received it from another friend. Your thorough and clear instructions made me want to do it! I tried the recipe For some reason my dough would not shape after rising. It became sticky again, after it stood and rose overnight. I used 500g of whte bread flour only. I would appreciate any tips! Thank you again
If it was too hot in the kitchen it may have over risen. It’s a very fickle thing. Try placing it in a cooler area, maybe next a window. If it’s still too warm decrease the time that you let it rise.
Can I make a gluten-free version with a different flour and still see the same results? I have a severe gluten allergy and miss sourdough bread so much. Thanks for sharing this recipe! Your videos are really fun to watch!

Hi sonja you said to feed starter after i put some into the container in the fridge.like to know how much flour and water must i ad to feed it.thanks so much❤
Sonya, you make beautiful bread!!!!
Yes, I want to see pizza dough.
I use the Costco brand
Hello Sonya ! Thanks a lot for sharing all your passion for sourdough starter and bread ! Question : when you let the dough 6 hours during the night ,what happens if I leave it 7 or 8 hours ?? Will it rise too much ? Thanks for your answer !
Fantastic video ☺
Thanks so much for sharing! I never knew you can make bread so easily without a bread machine or a mixer with dough hook! I'm definitely going to try this because I loved making bread and love sourdough.
In the South, this bread is commonly called "Friendship Bread" as we will share our starter with a friend who wants to make their own sourdough. It is a thoughtful gift to give some home made soughdough bread with a bit of the starter done up in a nice basket.
PS You only want to use the oil for the final kneading/shaping. It does work wonderfully well.
Hi Sonya, I really am tempted to try sourdough bread. What size Dutch ovens do I need to buy?
Thank you so much for this excellent, step by step video. I’m definitely going to try but I need to order some things first. Thumbs up!
So happy you liked it
I came across your channel and really enjoy the videos.
Delicious….thank you 💕👏🏻
My pleasure 😊
Gracias gracias sonya
Looks amazing!!! I really really want to do this but I don't have Dutch ovens, I can see this is going to be an investment, Dutch ovens look expensive 😬. I'm sure that it's worth it, but for me that means more procrastination lol
Yes please love it❤❤🙏🙏
Hi Sonya I love watching this! What can I do if I don't have a dutch oven?
Use any oven safe pot that has a lid
Great video ,thx.Yes please do a pizza dough video 🍕
mashallah very nice and beautiful apu
Hello,Sonya!
Thank you for your wonderful tutorial.I got it from a freind, who received it from another friend. Your thorough and clear instructions made me want to do it!
I tried the recipe
For some reason my dough would not shape after rising.
I am a Muslim from Pakistan 🇵🇰. Love 😍
Can I make a gluten-free version with a different flour and still see the same results? I have a severe gluten allergy and miss sourdough bread so much. Thanks for sharing this recipe! Your videos are really fun to watch!
I would have liked to see you slice the sour dough loaf to see the appearance of the finished product. Thank you!
Hi Sonya. You always look amazing. Where do you buy the bottom modest shirt? It's so nice how you can wear fashionable tops with them.
Oh please do one of how you make your pizza dough
