    Teamwork makes the dream work! In 1991 we built an awesome 6 stall horse barn here on our homestead. We often joked that we didn't have a lot of money, but we had plenty of muscles. lol Well, today we finished digging out the stall compost from the last two remaining stalls to prepare them for a concrete pour. Loved horses all my life, but at 62 more horses just aren't in the plan. So, we're repurposing this awesome space built a man-cave, now building my she-shed, enclosed tool and large equipment storage etc... with the help of our John Deere tractor, thank God for that tractor because these days we have more money than muscles. Love watching what you two are building together, and many years from now you'll have these amazing memories to keep you smiling!

    Thank God for tractors and backhoes. We built a garage with 12 foot side walls that were 40 feet in length several years ago. I still am thankful every time I look at those large pieces of equipment. They are worth their weight in gold!

    For little notches in wood, a router works well and is safer than the saw and chisel. Line levels sag a little. When using a power saw, gloves are dangerous. It can pull your hand into the blade. I'm glad that you haven't been hurt but I worry that you will get caught. I come from a family of carpenters who all died with all of their fingers. Good job with the beam. When moving things, momentum can cause troubles. I've learned that columns need temporary bracing while loading and connecting. Don't be afraid to use extra bracing. Good Luck, Rick

    Good job, getting that beam set. Please take a moment and brace it diagonally both left and right side, as well as a diagonally from the middle post near the bottom and back too the top along the side of the engineered beam. Because even though you have secured it at the bottom. The latteral movement will exceed the spec loads until it is locked into place with the TJI system. Safety first! 🙂👍
    Also I would suggest once the lower section is down would be to pour the concrete, it makes it easier, just cover the beams with something. This will allow you to be able to build the stairs.
    The closest and shower looks great.
    Have a good week and God bless amen.

    Adding that expensive beam up….that super heavy beam that gives every builder immense stress- you did it!!! I had to fast forward, check the ending, could see that it was up and then went back to watch the success- BRAVO!
    This is for Melissa- my dad died of emphysema when I was just a teenager. That was 40 years ago. I have thought of him every single day- saddened by the great things that couldn’t share and also deeply saddened that I couldn’t talk to him when I had my massive stroke- heart defect…and I know that he would have been right there me, every single day, without hesitation. That was my dad. He would have been there when I graduated from pharmacy school, my second stroke and my 2 brain surgeries. But, life does move on…and I miss him so much, 4 decades later. Smoking can change not just your life, but it can change the lives of those around you also. I hope that you at least smoke outside so that your kids aren’t inhaling the poison- or cancer sticks as I have always referred them. My sister’s father-in-law died of lung cancer about 10 years ago. He looked so healthy too….great sadness for his entire family.
    Please think about your kids. I am sure that your family will do everything to help you to stop that habit it they only knew the risk that you are putting yourself in each time you light up. I don’t mind the cocktail or two- lol, but the smoking, it will kill you and it’s not a good way to go. Please consider my very friendly advice.

    • @GoodSimpleLiving
      @GoodSimpleLiving  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate your kind words so much, but I am not a smoker. Jeremy just makes up random things that are opposite of me to tease me online. Like I'm a 52 year old, tall, day drinker, smoker, and peeping Tom. I'm none of those lol

    Hmmm not sure why you’re surprised that it worked to perfection? That’s exactly what you said you’d manifest. Brava. Great team work & it’s a delight to know you have those little “touches” of intimacy as you create alongside each other. Job well done ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

    Much better than Trent and Allie's first attempt at a beam setting.

      There’s no comparison between Trent and Allie’s build and this one. Sadly Trent and Allie’s house is barely livable while this house is beautiful and functional. Hopefully this garage will be the same.

    Good on the Hunter Safety course. Every person that wants to own a firearm needs to have taken (and passed) some type of safety class. Awesome setting of the beam, well done 👊
