  • First time doing this! On the first snow, I first used my bucket and rake on just the hilly part. I tried to use my rake to lightly remove the snow and ice without breaking up the gravel too much. But it snowed again and the snow was just too deep. Clearing Snow with a Box Blade on Gravel.

    When I was using only a B7100 back in the 80's to clear snow or push gravel I most all the time in reverse. Depending on the packability of the snow you can push a pretty good pile. Like my old man always said...get on that tractor boy, you ain't a gonna learn no younger !! Besides, its only a mistake if it can't be fixed. Glad you are getting the hang of the box blade, I am hoping to get me a few new implements this year. I need to get a disc and a bush hog. I think they will be of most use right now in my orchard and property. As i was watching this I was thinking after you got the snow scraped off you could switch to the rake and try to loosen up the gravel a bit so you would get more traction. But then, I realized you can do the same thing with the box blade buy making it more aggressive. I am new to tractors and implements too. only implement I have used so fare is the post hole digger, so I have a lot to learn.

    • @PaleHorseOutdoors
      @PaleHorseOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, Joey! Yep it's a lot to learn and makes you wonder if you're buying the right tools for your specific applications. I do use my brush hog quite a bit, but I don't "mow" with it that much because I enjoy time on my Cub Cadet too. If I could go back in time, I'd get a flail mower for my use instead of the brush hog though. Thanks for watching, buddy!

      Yes that's the price! I would try the rake next but as luck has it, it's melting. I think we're done with this bout of snow for the time being. Thanks for watching, Gator!

    Good morning David, nice work with the blade. I dont think there is any avoiding bringing up some material and having spring clean up to do no matter what you are plowing with. I would think better to get through the ice and get it to safe conditions.

      Hi Richie! Good to see you again, my friend. I hope you and your family are doing well. I've enjoyed what you've showed us of the new building. It's looking amazing. Yeah, it's taken a little bit of hands on and chats with you guys to figure out this snow clearing business. Now that I've gotten a little more experience using the box blade it's not so intimidating. The good news is annual snow and annual cleanup mean more content! :) Thanks for watching and see you soon!

    I also use my box blade in reverse shoving snow, dirt, gravel, whatever backwards. Very versatile piece of equipment. Very glad that I got mine when I got my tractor.

      I'm going to get a lot more practice this spring. I have to put down rock along the side of the shop to connect the front parking with the rear pad. I can't wait!

    Good work with the box blade David. I guess depending on how much snow you had would determine the drop point. ie if the box blade got to full and started to bog down the tractor halfway down the road then you may have to have a couple drop points. I think you're doing a great job 👍 Looks like more snow tonight and tomorrow. 🥶 Stay safe buddy.

      Hey thanks, Kyle! Good idea about the drop point. We've had hard rain and warmer temperatures for the last few hours. Our snow may be gone for a while, but since it's only January we could get more before the winter is over. You stay warm and safe. And don't get too close to that cliff! Take care my friend. :)
