- Lovely long visit with Sydney and Wilma today! Wilma stood to turn her eggs twice while I was there, all eight are cooking well she says 🥰
Sydney was doing his usual thing, on patrol and chasing geese, when a lady with a young boy came along to feed them. The lady, I assume was grandmother to the lad, didn’t speak very much English and the youngster didn’t seem to speak any at all, but I managed to show him how to feed the birds and he loved it. They were still standing on the bank when I noticed Sydney was about to go into attack mode again, so I quickly explained to them what was going to happen, before putting myself between them and Sydney to reassure them as he went flapping past after the geese. He really was a grump today, but still such an amazing fella 🥰
Oh, and our first goose fluffs have arrived! 😍

Bread is not good for ducks and geese.
Bread is fine as long as it’s fresh, it’s no different to feeding the floating pellets made for them - ingredients are almost the same, but not on the nest, no food ever on the nest.
Feeding bread causes angel wing. Feed specialist duck food for nutrition.
No it doesn’t. Angel wing is genetic. The ingredients in bread are almost identical to those in the specially made floating pellets, please check for yourself, just the pellets are more expensive and make money for the feed manufacturers! Bread is fine as part of a varied diet, just needs to be fresh.

It’s fine as part of a varied diet, as long as it’s fresh. The ingredients are almost identical to the floating pellets that are made specifically for water birds, but pellets much more expensive.
