Prophets Can See Around Corners

For me, the message of this speech was not that we have 10 years guaranteed. But even though we know that Christ is coming back, we must not stop our lives with fear. The church continues to make plans and our lives must go on. Let's get married, study, work, progress and especially prepare ourselves physically and spiritually because His Coming is Imminent. Hope and Faith!
I just wanted to say how important it is to take your even young children to the temple. I was 4 years old, born and raised in Oklahoma but my faithful LDS grandparents and mother took me to the Jordan River Temple open house in 1981. I don’t even remember this but apparently when I was shown the Celestial room I said “this is Heavenly Father’s room.” I’ve had a lifelong love of temples and my husband and I were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, I could feel my ancestors and future posterity’s presence in the house of the Lord so strong! I’m so grateful that plans for our Tulsa temple have been announced, my Oklahoma born and raised husband and I wept with joy! I can’t wait for the blessings of the temple to be poured out over the Saints and seekers of truth over the next decade.
Jared thanks for highlighting this talk! I too felt it was highly significant along with the Prophet’s talk.
In this decade,
• Israel turns 80 (Psalms 90:10, JSM verse 34)
• The Salt Lake Temple will be complete
• The church turns 200
• 2000 years since Jesus Resurrection
• countless signs in the heavens
• Israel at war (Joel 3, Zechariah 12, Ezekiel 38-39)
The stars are aligning for Jesus to come soon, not to mention the prophet telling us he IS coming, we’re in the final phase, we’re in the latter part of the latter days, and the list goes on.
When was Jesus resurrected? How do you know?
@@allengreg5447 He was crucified after the Passover festival during the governorship of Pontius Pilate (Bible says this) who ruled from AD 26-36 (historical and archeological fact). He was resurrected 3 days after so therefore his resurrection was in that time frame, making somewhere between 2026-2036 2000 years after Jesus rose again.

President Kimball later dedicated the restored Whitmer log farmhouse, which he said was a reminder of the humble beginnings from which the Lord’s “mighty work has grown.”
I think 2030 will be very monumental‼️
Speaking of bringing attention to the church. BYU is 7-0 in football. It would be interesting if they won the championship since it's been 40 years since they last went undefeated to win the national championship.
Alot of people are talking about the kindness of the fans and how they raised $50,000 to support the opposing teams charity. This is another way the church is getting exposure.

Truth! Football fans are paying attention!
It’s a bookend! Or a support tower to the bridge of the restoration. We had the first ten years where nothing has been like it until now, the next ten years that will match it.
I think the prophets are trying to get us to see past the second coming. I think for a lot of years many of us did not know what to expect. A bright light, Christ comes and that’s the end of everything. We couldn’t see life past that. I think the decade never to be forgotten includes personal visits from the savior, but that’s not the end. I think they want us to really know life will continue on and to see ourselves living a life beyond that.
I like the highway quote! Once again, something from scripture that hits one way at first glance looks very different when expounded…and makes a lot more sense.
I haven't personally, but I overheard someone behind me in the line going through the Pittsburgh Temple open house ask, "Where can I find a Book of Mormon church?" This was after seeing the informational video and before we entered the Temple. Missionaries were right there to answer his question 😊
Someone mentioned that 1820 began with the visitation of God Himself and Jesus Christ to the Prophet.
So perhaps 2024 will have the same thing.

As one of the stages of Second Coming it may happen to our prophet in private.

Great video! I loved this talk. Here's a fun exercise... consider the impact of these events if they happen before the millennium. Then compare that to the impact if they happen during the millennium.
I can definitely see the possibility of having the Salt Lake temple open house near the beginning of the millennium. These events could be great catalysts to the missionary work in the millennium.
Bountiful temple was being Reno'd when Christ came to the Nephites - just saying.

Jared, have you read Bruce R. McConkie's book The millennial Messiah? He has a section on Adam-ondi-Ahman, there will be more than one meeting, he indicates there'll be a conference of all worthy saints present on the Earth and those beyond the veil. If you haven't read that section, you need to read it. Thanks!

Hold on now. Hasn’t anyone picked up the meaning of this at all? At first, it sounds like he’s saying that this decade will be as incredible as the decade of the foundation of the church, but pay attention that it is not saying that at all. It is saying that this coming decade will be similar to all the other decades following the decade of the foundation of the church.
Read again:
“May I be so bold as to suggest that this year we have commenced a decade that may prove to be *as momentous as any that has followed* that unparalleled founding decade almost two centuries ago.”

And the Portuguese translation says the very same thing. It says exactly “as significant as any other”

I've thought about this, and I think the framing is significant. He didn't say that and then mention significant events from other decades. He went into specific detail of that initial decade, bringing those things to our mind and setting that as our basis of comparison.

@@greentree_ It does. I agree. I noticed this a few days ago and actually felt the exact same way. It sort of took the wind out of my sails.
Still, I don't think that the examples he offered are anything that the church at large would look back at as "momentous". Do we look back at the celebration of the 100 year anniversary of the dedication of the church? The 2002 winter Olympics? The Salt Lake temple rededication is neat - but overall, will it be remembered as momentous, really?
In fact, he didn't even use the examples of the 100 year celebration or the 2002 Olympics as big events in our history! 🤷♀
What he did draw our minds to, in great detail, was the initial decade of his dispensation. It may be that the final decade of this dispensation couldn't happen without the initial - so that one is incomparable, in a way.
The Second Coming will be on June 9 2102.

The city of the New Jerusalem ( or Zion ) has to be built prior to the Second Coming.. To build that city something has to occur that will do away with the buildings that are there _ or perhaps the entire town of Independence. This destruction will not only take place in the US but worldwide.
Enoch and his people are to come join the saints in the building of Zion or the establishment of the government of Zion in the New Jerusalem. When that is accomplished the saints will wait. When the Lord appears to dwell among us He will come in His fury just as He did to the Nephites - thus a greater destruction world wide will take place - the world will see Him coming in the clouds. The saints will be safe and protected.
All this cannot possibly happen within a ten year period , but anything is possible. At least within that period of time it can be the start of the building of that great city. There is more to be said , but this is all for now.

Multiple scriptures say that the New Jerusalem will come down from the sky. There are also a great number of people who have since passed away that have been told that they will build the New Jerusalem. I think there's a natural conclusion if we look at it from this lens. Doesn't meant that's exactly how it'll happen, so we we've got to be more open minded. Many of the Jews missed Jesus because they put parameters on His coming base off of their own understanding. If we always tell ourselves, "This has to happen in this way first before...etc" we'll miss it too.

NEW J is being built - one temple at a time. Christ did not come in his fury to the Nephites.
We are going to be safe by being in our own zion, as said by several prophets. Temples are places of safety. We are already building zion. Yes, the new Jerusalem will come... but we don't know exactly when.
Jared, do you think we will actually have the Olympics if the Second Coming has already happened and we are living in the Millennium? You don’t think the focus on the 2034 Olympics is a hint that the Second Coming won’t be until after 2034?

Even if Christ comes before the Olympics, they would still likely be held. We know that at the start of the Millennium there will be good people on the earth of every faith, and it would still be an excellent opportunity to share the gospel, so the missionary opportunity is still important. Also, at it's most basic, the Olympics are wholesome competition. And there will still be mortals on earth. There's no reason they would be cancelled.
I think that Elder Stevenson framed his talk in such a way as to get us thinking about SIGNIFICANT spiritual events - and that they are implied in his talk. Of course he didn't say it out right. It isn't his place - and he's also speaking to a world wide audience of believers and unbelievers. So he talked about the things that we are obviously and temporally looking forward to. But there's LOTS of room for additional things.
President Nelson said, "Our Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ, will perform some of his mightiest works between now and when he comes again. We will see miraculous indications that God the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ, preside over this church in majesty and glory." And I think those "mightiest works" fit in Elder Stevenson's talk.
I he will come like a thief in the night. The Olympics might be the morning. We need to prepare NOW. For if it happens tomorrow, are we confident we have done our part to gather Israel?
Sports will continue in the millennium. And also we have no information on how quickly our bodies will improve at the beginning of the millennium… maybe in will be a gradual process
