You don't need to score the wall, those light scratches won't do a thing. Also you usually need to pin or prop gypsum coving to stop it sliding down.

Not an expert but here's a tip. Remove the TV, tables and curtains from the edge of the room before you start so they don't get covered in dust and adhesive.

Heres a good tip. Everything Artex you need to use like in this video, throw away and just use plaster/mud
