      In after effects, the rotobrush is ai-enabled. It separates objects from a background with more precision than manual labour I think, it saves so much time. AI has been really useful when working with after effects. I think AI will be streamlined in our workflow. The only part where it stops is if there are any legal copyright challenges. A few years ago nobody thought we would embrace music streaming services over cds, and its so commonplace today.

    Creative Director and designer since the late 90's here... the final point about us destroying us, 1000% agree. AI freaks me out, but the hot garbage I see coming from the self educated community of designers is a huge issue. Lame work at pathetic pricing is devaluing what all of us who did pay our dues in college, as interns, as junior designers, as graphic designers, as senior designers, and hopefully as the director, do professionally. I believe in the ranks of designers and I believe in earning your place as a designer. It's so bad that I think we should go back to certified designers. You should see the junk that people think makes a good portfolio, shameful. Not to mention not understanding the standards of web, publication, packaging, illustration, identity, branding (real branding, not this I made a logo BS), and typography. If you don't know what standard proof marks are and how to read them, question your status as a designer. Do you know what a bad break is, or orphans, or widows? Never heard of the golden mean or golden ratio? What is a die line? Ever heard of preflighting? If you didn't think yes to all of that, learn or get out. Yes, I'm gatekeeping, because the rats have already snuck under the gate. Now the rest of us, who know what we are doing, are spending too much time playing exterminator.

      I absolutely see where you’re coming from on this Robert! The new digital age of designers need to also understand the background and origin of graphic design including the basics of print but to start with the fundamentals themselves aren’t being practiced enough and that’s why I created a very basic course so the ones that can’t afford schools can at least get the basic terminology and practice these principles over and over rather than thinking that owning Adobe will make on a designer which has become the thinkingness unfortunately. I myself had to spend countless nights and days at printers for press checks and lived and breathed that world which is priceless experience to me. Thanks for sharing.

    Have been a Computer Science Programmer and Graphic Designer/Artist/Photographer since ever. My Friends in Milan (Top Fashion Graphic Designers working for Brands as Gucci) are already being axed from their job, that means receiving a farewell message saying: "we do not need you any more". In Tuscany, Italy, where I am now writing this text we have a Drone Tractor: it performs in a day the same job 12 people do in a week! My Job in Graphic Design? I gave up Graphic Design years ago. Being a Programmer Developer I begun working much with A.I. in 2012. I understood then Graphic Design as well Graphic Arts (so on Photography) would have been in ten years heavily flattened, shrunk, downturned by A.I. Itself. Being a Programmer for A.I. in Aeronautics allowed me to become a Helicopter Pilot. I studied Helicopter Flight of course!. Well.... are you aware of the AIRBUS DRAGONFLY Project? Is not a Project, is REAL: the first Airplane able to Take Off, Fly then Land with NO PILOTS... is here, 300 feet far from me, in Tuscany, Pisa, Italy!

I hate it, but I think we are fooling ourselves that the progress of Ai won’t replace 50-80% of the design work force. It might be a tool for a while but eventually briefs will just be sent to chat GPT instead of us and account handlers/clients will just talk with an Ai model until they get the refined result they want. Was aware already that I use ai as a tool on programs on a daily basis to make the workflow faster, just like you said in the video. That being said, I do encourage people (artists in general, as I am one) to use technology as a great tool. I think that ai has lots of potential but it has to be regulated in regards on how much automation is being used to make any artwork, whether it's a digital painting or a music composition. Pretty sure there will be a separation of ai focused people against people that consider ai a way of cheating because that's what it sounds like. One example, as ai is like cheating (only if you use ai to let it do all of your artwork) with technology to make art just like Zuckerburg encourages his daughter to use ai to make art instead of him (if you have sons or daughters, believe me, they are your first priority) sitting down with her to develop basic skills with her hands, just like any ilustrator out there (I draw too). I don't encourage to support this automated technology to try to substitute our soul because our art is made of emotions and experience, that's something that ai will never be able to copy. That's why I don't support people saying that they're artists because their just throwing random commands to let a machine give them a result to compete against artists that do put their hard work and effort in making works of art.

    • @4TheCreatives
      @4TheCreatives  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you for this Ruben and it is beautifully said! And I do agree with your analysis. Definitely don't like that throwing random commands to a computer will define an artist. And that is why we will not be replaced. But just like I was always the one refusing to use a computer for my basic art school design classes and then eventually had to give in if I wanted to compete professionally, we have to be aware of these tools so we can use them and enhance our work, not cheat with it or just give it to the hands of some non-creative who then pretends to be.

      @Rubeninsular ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome, Lauren@@4TheCreatives ! I was one that also was in denial of using technology to help the way(s) my art work is made. It Thinks in Boole Algebra and Electrical Microcircuit, as Human Brains does! We suppose the Human Brain is so wonderfully wonderful... but is not, is just an amount of Mathematically Boole Algebra Organized Electromagnetical Flip/Flop Neuronal Circuits ruled by a Statistical Law called REGRESSION. THe A.I. has EXACTLY the same, THE SAME... I say again THE SAME Structure! With only a difference: A.I. runs milliards of times faster than a Humand Brain, because Brain as it is made has certain limits of Speed. The Semiconductor Bus of the A.I. is.... faster! Much faster, because of the kind of Materials (Superconductors) assembled. In the next two years the A.I. will run on the Supersonic Glass Type, then A.I. will be even faster than already is now.
      The Human Brain has limits because we are made of Hydro-Carbon Nitrogen Phosfate based Cells in our brain. If we had a Brain of Supersonic Glass we would be as fast as the A.I. The Human Eye has limits, the A.I. Photocameras are BY FAR with Better Resolution than the Human Eye and can see Ultraviolet, Xrays... Gamma Rays , eh eh eh ! So YEAH! The A.I. i respectfully disagree. i believe the components that you are not taking into account are 1) marketing and 2) consumer's ignorance (not stupidity) of what good design is. Examples: clothing: 99% of all clothing worn in the USA is made elsewhere. As a result, all marketing has centered on making sub-par garments acceptable. You may be too young, but in the mid-nineties extremely thin garments became the norm because it is simply cheaper to ship overseas. It was called 'fashion-wear'. Now you can walk into a Costco and see 50 pairs of pants stacked and it is barely over 2 feet tall. There are many other examples: VHS over Beta, MP3 over CD, etc, etc. I am one of those designers (i am 59) that was trained at a Design School. I agree that many more designers are able to make a living without any formal education, etc. The reason why? The 'rules' for good graphic design have gotten much more 'relaxed'. What is actually not that good is being accepted. As a working professional for 35 years, i have seen my business go from designing to just cleaning up a non-designer's work. Business will ALWAYS go the cheaper route. It will be simply a matter of economics. Why have a graphic design department when you can have one prompter? The populace will be ignorant (or made ignorant through marketing) what good design is, and the pieces will fall into place. This is why just last weekend i sincerely told an extremely talented young artist to not pursue art as a career and get a government job. Get your artistic ya-ya's out on your spare time and retire early with a pension with a 401k that had your contributions added to with unprecedented percentages. I will now return to my lazy-boy, LOL.

    Great video! I agree to a point. I've been working with AI since day one and some of the things you and others have mentioned are already becoming a reality and will be replaced by AI. Things that are harder to control like continuity with successive characters or other graphic types that would need to be nuanced by a graphic designer are already becoming a reality. The jobs that will be killed be like the independent contractors doing a logo for a local business and things like that. Right now, prompts are the Wild west. But what is coming are tools that even my grandmother will be able to control. Higher end brand designers for corporations will most likely be fine. Also, the entertainment industry. But I will say this, if you are part of Media design group for a company and there are 2 or three in the team...someone will be losing a job. Businesses aren't going to be paying for multiple people when one person with AI will be doing the same amount of work. So, while AI won't replace all of us, jobs will get much thinner. I would agree with everything you said if AI stayed in its current state...but that's not what it's going to be like in a year or two.

    Illustrators & concept artists (I respect a skilled illustrator more than anyone else in the commercial art field, even if they don't necessarily make the most money) are already clearly threatened by Midjourney. Midjourney is already taking jobs from freelancers, left and right. Indie book covers, album covers, indie game devs are already using this. Portrait commissions for freelancers are mostly obsolete thing, thanks to Lensa. Would be foolish to say otherwise. Only big brands are shying away from it, smaller companies use AI illustrations already. Like the biggest fitness website in my country (they sell supplements etc.), everything is done with Midjourney suddenly.
    Logo design and such still requires human ideas, logos are mostly about ideas. But the field where designers are needed is getting narrower... 3D is starting to also get threatened. I wouldn't compare this to tools like "content aware fill" or "select subject", they are just tools that reduce busywork. Midjourney is able to output a finished, high quality illustration. It's not a tool, it's a replacement for humans, and replacement for artistic process. Not replacement for busywork.

    Exceptional graphic designers or art directors use their imagination to visualise how something would look like, or discern if it would work across different products and media. That's even before they start working on it.
    Imagination is the key word. but I think it's till gonna put many Graphic Designers with niche skills out of work. Only Art directors and Creative directors will be left.

    Blake AJ Riley's thoughts: Designers will have to create things for clients that you can not instruct ai to generate. Designers (All Creatives for that matter) will have to be far more competent AND confident. In addition to using AI themselves. Creatives can use AI to produce more and make suggestions thus making the individual more versatile. The tool(s) will birth more success and aid faster improvement.
    Ai is the greatest thing to ever happen to art.

      I say absolutely go for it! Why are there still designers if Canva exists? Why are there still web designers if templates are all over the place? Because businesses still need competent people to handle the design side of things for them rather than them having to do everything even if there are Ai sites. I know many motion graphics designers that are still flourishing. Go for your goals.

    I worry that the public's design standards will continue to fall to a point that what a bot does will be acceptable. It's already happening with mediocre, half-trained human designers. (I won't bash self-trained, there are many who take this route and become great designers, some of whom I've learned a few things from.)

    • @4TheCreatives
      @4TheCreatives  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know what you mean totally but I can tell you I keep getting inquiries and interested clients who are willing to invest in a proper brand design to the company they’re proud of and they are not creatives themselves to know how to keep it cohesive. There’s been those cheap ones looking for fast design solutions for decades and many thought the advent or Canva would put designers out of business. But I’ve seen clients try to use Canva and fail to make anything look good and come back for help. The important thing for serious creatives at this time is to really know branding and marketing for themselves so they can attract the right clients that will value their creative mind to take the client’s business in the right direction visually.

    Oh wow, your solution is to raise the price of graphic design? That’s exactly my prediction: there will be some human designers, but they will only work for the ultra wealthy. 99.9% of graphic design will be completely ai generated because human designers can’t produce work as quickly and inexpensively as the ai can. You were onto a much better path for protecting designers when you mentioned policy change.

    well practically thinking from an HR point of view , if the small business owner is doing his own graphics then who will take care of the asset management or client management or legal stuffs or good and material management it will become too much for a small business to handle it .
    If a medium size business with Hr and admin is handling graphics works from AI then who will do the job posting ? Attendance management ,payroll processing onboarding new employees will the admin busy with asset management electricity invoices invoices from wholesellers,facility management do the Graphic designing work from AI ?
    I believe they will hire a dedicated Graphic designer to will focus solely on the graphics work then the owner will direct the recruiters to filter resumes and line up interviews with AI on their resumes just like earlier they filter it with the magical word " Adobe " on indeed and ignore the main portfolio all together 🤣
