I was maybe eight years old when I saw 'Valley of Gwangi' at a special presentation at the local zoo, which also included a short talk by Robert Bakker (I still have the Ornithomimus he drew for me). I didn't remember the title of the movie so years later I fondly remembered it but couldn't find it, until one day at a flea market I came across an old VHS tape that claimed to be a dinosaur western. I was thrilled. I figured this had to be it. It was 'The Beast of Hollow Mountain'.

Shin Godzilla is a beautiful and terrifying movie. The pain and suffering you can see in Shin's eyes is haunting. He goes through millions of years worth of evolution in such a short span of time and all he can really do is scream and protect himself from people who don't understand what's going on. Also, Bob Peterson (the original director and author of The Good Dinosaur) is actually the father of a friend of mine from elementary school. Mr. Peterson is a lovely person and he and I still talk occasionally. He's helped write, direct and do voicework for quite a few Pixar films including Finding Nemo where he played Mr Ray and Monsters Inc in which he appeared as Roz the slug lady. He also portrayed Dug in UP :)

I knoww not to mention the straight to dvd film that movie is honestly an underrated gem in my opinion also fun fact the effects of the movie was done by Framestore the company who previously worked on walking with dinosaurs and the score of the movie was done by Trevor Jones the same guy who did the score for the Dark Crystal and Labyrinth
Fun Fact: The Cretaceous Cut of Walking with Dinosaurs (2013) also changed some things to make it even more accurate, like renaming the Gorgosaurus to Nanuqsaurus.

as a Dane it's interesting to not just see Reptilicus mentioned but also learn about all the differences between the Danish and American versions which I weren't aware of until now
You're basically spot on with the godzilla continuity. The only major stand outs are godzilla against mechagodzilla and its sequel which are technically apart of a oversized continuity that involves a bunch of different films that exist just to explain how humanity has anti monster weapons before the second Godzilla appears 50 years after the original. The other is the Anime trilogy which includes a book series that has monster appears and destroy humanity thousands of years before the movie series proper
This is just me, but I consider the Monsterverse to be its own separate era from the Reiwa. If you bunch the Monsterverse with Shin Godzilla and the Anime Trilogy, I will not judge you at all.
Theodore Rex is a secret sequel to the ABC tv series "Dinosaurs." After those dinos extinct themselves, they are later brought back in the present human era.
"Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend" was one of my favorite films as a very small child in the late-80's. I grew up loving dinosaurs, so I was such a purist about how they were depicted and I have never seen most of these films. The ones I have seen were mostly fine. I really wish a dinosaur or prehistoric animal film could be made that was true to the organisms themselves, and not just a movie genre. Oh wait, there was one: the first Jurassic Park movie. Fun Tidbit: It's heavily implied in the movie "Dinosaur" that the place they end up at the end is "The Lost World (1925), which further indicates that all them lovable dinos won't perish with the rest of the planet, because no matter how whimsical you make your prehistoric world, that rock is still eventually wiping everything out.
I movie series I remember watching that I loved was dinotopia. It’s about two brothers who get stranded on an island with dinosaurs which are hyper intelligent (besides carnivores).

Firstly... most iceberg creators don't have a Tier 8 so kudos on that. Your videos are always fun to watch. Whether they lean to the informative side or the fun side, you always find something to love about it.
You're the only person I've see accurately say "The Good Dinosaur" takes place millions of years after the asteroid (present day) and not 65 million years ago. It's like the whole what if scenario the movies based on, idk how people get it wrong.

Something about Gorgo that I think is worth noting is that both of the monsters survive the movie, which is *extremely* rare in solo giant monster movies. The only other instances I know of a monster surviving a solo film, much less a female monster, are the original Mothra and the 1984 Godzilla film. I actually had Journey To The Beginning of Time when I was a kid. Needless to say, I was fooled by that exact boxart. It's some trash.
@@zakkmylde1712 I said "solo" so I'm talking about monster movies that only have a single individual monster or single species of monster. In those movies, they die the vast, vast majority of the time, especially if they're female with offspring or are capable of reproducing in some way. Even if we're talking about Godzilla solo films, he dies in the 1954 original, survives in the '84 film, dies in the dumpster fire '98 film, and gets frozen or whatever the hell in Shin Godzilla.
Journey to the Beginning of Time is NOT trash, it is a fantastic showcase of puppetry and stop motion, the amount of work put into it is exceptional, especially the seamless splicing of the footage with the puppets the main characters (The scene with the Tracodon in the water comes to mind). Karel Zeman was an excellent visionary.
Walking with dinosaurs was something I would watch on this little screen in my mom’s van when we went on vacation. That movie was my childhood and I loved it so much, glad it was here
I really appreciate that in commenting on We're Back you draw a distinction between dinosaurs and pterosaurs. I've come to tolerate people blurring the term dinosaur, but I always appreciate attention to detail.
Sounds like someone just doesn't appreciate the absolute masterpiece that is Velocipastor, which should more than explain it's spot on the iceberg. In all seriousness, yeah that's likely the case. I assumed the placement of the entries were probably based on the creators personal experience with dinosaur movies rather than that of the general public, which could explain why the placements feel off.
Roger Corman helped mentor and launched the careers of Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese and James Cameron. He even makes cameos in some of the movies the directors he helped launched like The Silence of the Lambs;

Dang, I knew every single one of these movies. I think this is proof that I need to touch grass more. There were some other movies that weren’t on the list so I’m considering making my on iceberg.
Interesting iceberg but didnt appreciate the hatred thrown at these movies, specially the lower budget ones that are often the best type of monster or creature films that you can find. At least there's more people finding out about these obscure gems, I would have personally added Saurians (1994) by Mark Polonia, another great low budget film with some of the cheapest dinosaurs ever used.
i was surprised that A Journey to the Beginning of Time is on this tier as well! I reccomend checking more of zdeněk burian's artwork, he was a great artist from the czech republic. he made illustrations for many adventure novels and such. i heard and read that he is one of the most influential palaeoartists out there (of course, some of the paintings are outdated due to recent discoveries but i still think that they are great). most of his work includes prehistoric reconstructions. apparently he inspired most of later depictions of dinosaurs. i used to be obsessed with dinosaurs as a child so this makes me very happy and i love listening to your videos. keep up the good work. :)
Glad to see another iceberg video from you after the paleontology fringe theory one. I don't know about anyone else, but I don't think I'll ever be tired of the format.
also nice seeing "Planet of Storms"/"Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet" get a mention, it's a quite interesting film and quite underrated outside of Eastern Europe
I'm sure, this movie inspered carnivores video games(if you never heard about it, it is video game about hunting alien dinos and other prehistoric animals such as pterosaurs, mammoths and even yeti on alien planet)
When it comes to Godzilla I feel I can lend my knowledge after all I carry the franchise 😏 The Showa series are kinda cohesive as certain movies are sequels to each other while others are stand alones The Heisei era is the most linear as each movie is a direct sequel of the other ending with with Godzilla vs Destoroyah which was supposed to be the end of the entire franchise then 1998 happened and Japan refused to let that be the end of the series so we got the millennium era The millennium era is my favorite because those movies are all stand alones with exception of two called Godzilla X Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS bring it's sequel. I like the millennium era alot because each film from this era is technically a sequel to 1954 telling a different scenario regarding the appearance of a second Godzilla
Same story as with the Gamera films, except only one millennium era film ("Gamera the Brave") got made. The Heisei Gamera films are quite watching as well, getting increasingly weird and dark with each installment clearly incorporating some influence from that OTHER Japanese science-fiction cash cow franchise of the 1990's namely "Neon Genesis Evangelion". With Gamera's new adversaries Legion and Iris bearing strong resemblances to many of the weirder angels from NGE.
I was one of the animators on The Dinosaur Project and worked on a lot of the Crypto and Jeholopterus shots. Jellyfish Pictures, the studio responsible for the vfx work, got the job after finishing the BBC documentary series Planet Dinosaur. We made a very short found footage style proof of concept pitch to win the job using some of the Majungasaurus models we'd previously used on Planet Dinosaur. I remember we had to do that on the down-low because technically, we were still on the BBC job at the time. I'm pretty sure I had to temporarily move desks while we worked on the pitch so that the clients from the BBC couldn't see my screen when they came into the studio. A couple of the creature assets were also used in both Planet Dinosaur and The Dinosaur Project, namely the Plesiosaur and Predator x, with some slight changes to their textures. One of the shots I remember best was from the sequence where Luke films the 3 Crypto swimming in the river. Originally, that shot used 3 guys in wetsuits and snorkels rolling around in the water to get water interactions that would have otherwise been way more expensive to do digitally. It looked pretty hilarious before they were painted out and replaced with the dinos.
Great video but the best part about it is the Winter in Eden announcement. Ever since the first Eden vid I ordered the trilogy the next day and have read through West and Winter already and have been patiently waiting for the Winter Video
I'm surprised you never mentioned the Dinotopia movies, miniseries, and books; If you do update this video, you should also look into Miniforce: Deeno King of the Dinosaurs (2020), The Prince of Dinosaurs (2000), I Am Trex, You Are Umasou movies, Josh Kirby Time Warrior Planet of the Dino Knights (1995), and Dinosaur Island (1994)

I remember a short 2d animated dinosaur movie I saw when I was a kid (about 2 decades ago). It involved dinosaurs building spaceships and flying out into space to live on asteroids to escape the meteor that caused their extinction. Never been able to find it again, at this point it almost feels like a fever dream but I swear it was real. May have just been a niche local thing. It's definitely _not_ "We're Back!", which I remember as a separate movie that involved dinosaurs being abducted by alien. I really wish I could find it so I could stop feeling so gaslighted by my own memory.
Was it called Age Raptors? It was to be a Kickstarter funded independently made animated series about raptors escaping into space unfortunately the project got cancelled. Even the Kickstarter page has been removed. True lost media right there.
Important thing to add about Gorgo: it was directed by Eugène Lourié (A french director of Russian descent) who also directed Beast from 20'000 fathoms a decade prior, a movie that would directly inspire Godzilla. So Gorgo is not only a response to Godzilla, it's a way to bring it all full circle.
He also directed "The Giant Behemoth", a British film following a similar storyline as "Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" whose Rhedosaurus analogue is clearly inspired by popular images of the Loch Ness Monster. The stop motion effects in that one were done by Willis O'Brien of "King Kong" fame.

I saw Caveman a few months ago (it’s free with ads on TH-cam) and the stop motion animation is surprisingly amazing??? Like, the dinosaurs are incredibly fluid and lifelike despite being so dopey
i grew up w journey to the beginning of time and its soo under appreciated in the film world outside of Czechia, the movie is seriously so nostalgic to me and i feel like it is for every czech kid out there, its a serious masterpiece
On Godzilla he actually was or still is a dinosaur? Just severly mutated. He was called a Godzillasaurus (original ik lol) and was HUGE for a regular theropod, if im not mistaken his regular dinosaur form was already as big as a 5 story building and then being basked in radiation made him even bigger (apparently his species has a incredible genome set which allows the radiation to become a power source for him) and although now he's considered "a prehistoric entity" in the main films , my headcannon will always be that he's a dinosaur who's species was able to absorb the radioactive energy of prehistoric earth
as a certified Godzilla Fan I'm very happy to see the movies (and adjacent stuff) on there. And Godzilla and the guys actually belong there, sincesometimes the giant Kaiju are ancient creatures in-lore. Like Godzilla being a mutated Godzillasaurus or Barugon from the Gamera Movies
One you might be interested in is Ammonite - it is supposed to be about Mary Anning and her early contributions to paleontology. Kinda controversial because they through in a lesbian romance for no particular reason.

Wow, I just got a nostalgia roundhouse to the face. I forgot about the Disney Dinosaur movie. This movie made little me so passionate about dinos and other ancient life.
Fun fact- For the longest time, the one of my favorite zoos down in Florida had one of Baby's static stand ins on it's nature walk for the longest time. It was taken out eventually to make room for a Sumatran Tiger exhibit before it had to be changed again to a Florida Black Bear rehab and exhibit because the tigers had gotten even further into the wrong side of endangered and the zoo was passed over for participation in that program.
Journey to the Beginning of Time is seriously underrated. According to Steven Speilberg, that movie was of very high quality for its time. Also, if I remember correctly, that film is the most successful Czech film of all time.
It was a very successful film. But the most successful Czech film of all time was 1958’s Invention for Destruction. Which was directed by the same director as Journey to the Beginning of Time
@@Duncaster Karel Zeman, my favourite film of his is the Baron Münchhausen film he made which was clearly a huge influence on a young Terry Gilliam. Not just on Gilliam's own Münchhausen film but also all the whimsical animations that he did for Monty Python.

A Journey To the Beginning of Time is a really interesting film and a cool experience. It's a very slow, relaxed sort of film that slowly becomes more existential the further the children go back. Wandering around a world where the only living things are plants is actually a pretty harrowing. I've always vastly preferred films similar to that (viewing Dinosaurs/Pre-Historic creatures in their natural habitat and time) over the constant resurrection/discovery of Dinosaurs in the modern day.
One of the iceberg videos I enjoyed the most. Hope that someone will make a similar one about dinosaur TV series and documentaries so you can make another cool iceberg video about it like this.

That’s what I like about the film dinotopia. In it the people live in peace with dinosaurs and carry meat to give to carnivores saying that they’re only hungry so giving them meat won’t have them rely on attacking them for food.
Roger Corman also recycled the spaceship exterior footage from "Battle Beyond the Stars" for several other science-fiction films, most famously an "Alien" ripoff titled either "Forbidden World" or "Mutant" depending on which edition you watch. Which also re-uses the interior sets from "Galaxy of Terror", a rather demented film that can best be described as "Forbidden Planet" meets "Alien" on several hits of blotter acid.
Lost in Dinosaur World was filmed at Marine World, an amusement park in Vallejo, California, and is partially a promotion for the installation of the animatronic dinosaur attraction in 1993.
It's weird how different posters and DVD covers of My Pet Dinosaur give off completely different tones. There are posters that give it a more serious and emotional E.T. vibe with the tagline "Making friends is easy, keeping them is impossible," while a certain DVD cover makes it looks like a lighthearted Disney Channel sitcom with a CGI dinosaur with the tagline "Not your average pet" being drawn on a locker.
Tier 7 spoilers: So… they made a movie based on a chidren educational novel series, the author of which tried to sue Crichton and Spielberg for Jurassic Park, and then dressed the main boy character A LOT like Alan Grant in the Jurassic Park movie…
We had a VHS tape of "Journey to the Beginning of Time" as kids and watched the dinosaur part of it on repeat. Its still one of my dad's favorite Dinomedia movies
I'm honestly more surprised by the fact that I watch almost 80% of those movies before even knowing that someone else in the world also know their existence.

Theodore Rex is a secret sequel to the ABC tv series "Dinosaurs." After those dinos extinct themselves, they are later brought back in the present human era.
"Baby: Secret of the Lost Legend" was one of my favorite films as a very small child in the late-80's. I grew up loving dinosaurs, so I was such a purist about how they were depicted and I have never seen most of these films. The ones I have seen were mostly fine. I really wish a dinosaur or prehistoric animal film could be made that was true to the organisms themselves, and not just a movie genre. Oh wait, there was one: the first Jurassic Park movie.
Fun Tidbit: It's heavily implied in the movie "Dinosaur" that the place they end up at the end is "The Lost World (1925), which further indicates that all them lovable dinos won't perish with the rest of the planet, because no matter how whimsical you make your prehistoric world, that rock is still eventually wiping everything out.

I movie series I remember watching that I loved was dinotopia. It’s about two brothers who get stranded on an island with dinosaurs which are hyper intelligent (besides carnivores).

Something about Gorgo that I think is worth noting is that both of the monsters survive the movie, which is *extremely* rare in solo giant monster movies. The only other instances I know of a monster surviving a solo film, much less a female monster, are the original Mothra and the 1984 Godzilla film.
I actually had Journey To The Beginning of Time when I was a kid. Needless to say, I was fooled by that exact boxart. It's some trash.
Godzilla survives most movies and a few of the villain monsters even survive for multiple movies.

In those movies, they die the vast, vast majority of the time, especially if they're female with offspring or are capable of reproducing in some way. Even if we're talking about Godzilla solo films, he dies in the 1954 original, survives in the '84 film, dies in the dumpster fire '98 film, and gets frozen or whatever the hell in Shin Godzilla.
Gappa survives in his movie. Probably inspired by Gorgo. I suppose technically Daimajin survives his movies, too. But you’re right, very rare.
Journey to the Beginning of Time is NOT trash, it is a fantastic showcase of puppetry and stop motion, the amount of work put into it is exceptional, especially the seamless splicing of the footage with the puppets the main characters (The scene with the Tracodon in the water comes to mind). Karel Zeman was an excellent visionary.
The idea for an Aztec themed prehistoric movie actually has a lot of untapped potential. Quetzalcoatl anyone?

In all seriousness, yeah that's likely the case. I assumed the placement of the entries were probably based on the creators personal experience with dinosaur movies rather than that of the general public, which could explain why the placements feel off.
I love these type of iceberg videos when the narrator details each entry instead of just mentioning the entry and moving on without an explanation
Roger Corman helped mentor and launched the careers of Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese and James Cameron. He even makes cameos in some of the movies the directors he helped launched like The Silence of the Lambs;
James Cameron did the production design for "Galaxy of Terror", a really weird cross between "Alien" and "Forbidden Planet"

I can even make a Zilla like remake of 20,000 Fathoms where the Rhedosaurus is different in appearance and in origin.

Interesting iceberg but didnt appreciate the hatred thrown at these movies, specially the lower budget ones that are often the best type of monster or creature films that you can find. At least there's more people finding out about these obscure gems, I would have personally added Saurians (1994) by Mark Polonia, another great low budget film with some of the cheapest dinosaurs ever used.
Ive seen "We're Back" sooo many times as a kid. That was one of the few movies I had on vhs and i absolutely loved it.

i was surprised that A Journey to the Beginning of Time is on this tier as well! I reccomend checking more of zdeněk burian's artwork, he was a great artist from the czech republic. he made illustrations for many adventure novels and such. i heard and read that he is one of the most influential palaeoartists out there (of course, some of the paintings are outdated due to recent discoveries but i still think that they are great). most of his work includes prehistoric reconstructions. apparently he inspired most of later depictions of dinosaurs. i used to be obsessed with dinosaurs as a child so this makes me very happy and i love listening to your videos. keep up the good work. :)

also nice seeing "Planet of Storms"/"Voyage to the Prehistoric Planet" get a mention, it's a quite interesting film and quite underrated outside of Eastern Europe
I'm sure, this movie inspered carnivores video games(if you never heard about it, it is video game about hunting alien dinos and other prehistoric animals such as pterosaurs, mammoths and even yeti on alien planet)
I like how before Dinosaurs where reconstructed into what they are now, the carnivorous dinosaurs actually had lips covering there teeth

The Showa series are kinda cohesive as certain movies are sequels to each other while others are stand alones
The Heisei era is the most linear as each movie is a direct sequel of the other ending with with Godzilla vs Destoroyah which was supposed to be the end of the entire franchise then 1998 happened and Japan refused to let that be the end of the series so we got the millennium era
The millennium era is my favorite because those movies are all stand alones with exception of two called Godzilla X Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS bring it's sequel. I like the millennium era alot because each film from this era is technically a sequel to 1954 telling a different scenario regarding the appearance of a second Godzilla

Same story as with the Gamera films, except only one millennium era film ("Gamera the Brave") got made. The Heisei Gamera films are quite watching as well, getting increasingly weird and dark with each installment clearly incorporating some influence from that OTHER Japanese science-fiction cash cow franchise of the 1990's namely "Neon Genesis Evangelion". With Gamera's new adversaries Legion and Iris bearing strong resemblances to many of the weirder angels from NGE.
I was one of the animators on The Dinosaur Project and worked on a lot of the Crypto and Jeholopterus shots. Jellyfish Pictures, the studio responsible for the vfx work, got the job after finishing the BBC documentary series Planet Dinosaur. We made a very short found footage style proof of concept pitch to win the job using some of the Majungasaurus models we'd previously used on Planet Dinosaur. I remember we had to do that on the down-low because technically, we were still on the BBC job at the time. I'm pretty sure I had to temporarily move desks while we worked on the pitch so that the clients from the BBC couldn't see my screen when they came into the studio.
A couple of the creature assets were also used in both Planet Dinosaur and The Dinosaur Project, namely the Plesiosaur and Predator x, with some slight changes to their textures.
One of the shots I remember best was from the sequence where Luke films the 3 Crypto swimming in the river. Originally, that shot used 3 guys in wetsuits and snorkels rolling around in the water to get water interactions that would have otherwise been way more expensive to do digitally. It looked pretty hilarious before they were painted out and replaced with the dinos.
Great video but the best part about it is the Winter in Eden announcement. Ever since the first Eden vid I ordered the trilogy the next day and have read through West and Winter already and have been patiently waiting for the Winter Video
I'm surprised you never mentioned the Dinotopia movies, miniseries, and books; If you do update this video, you should also look into Miniforce: Deeno King of the Dinosaurs (2020), The Prince of Dinosaurs (2000), I Am Trex, You Are Umasou movies, Josh Kirby Time Warrior Planet of the Dino Knights (1995), and Dinosaur Island (1994)

I remember a short 2d animated dinosaur movie I saw when I was a kid (about 2 decades ago). It involved dinosaurs building spaceships and flying out into space to live on asteroids to escape the meteor that caused their extinction. Never been able to find it again, at this point it almost feels like a fever dream but I swear it was real. May have just been a niche local thing. It's definitely _not_ "We're Back!", which I remember as a separate movie that involved dinosaurs being abducted by alien. I really wish I could find it so I could stop feeling so gaslighted by my own memory.

Was it called Age Raptors? It was to be a Kickstarter funded independently made animated series about raptors escaping into space unfortunately the project got cancelled. Even the Kickstarter page has been removed. True lost media right there.
Important thing to add about Gorgo: it was directed by Eugène Lourié (A french director of Russian descent) who also directed Beast from 20'000 fathoms a decade prior, a movie that would directly inspire Godzilla. So Gorgo is not only a response to Godzilla, it's a way to bring it all full circle.
He also directed "The Giant Behemoth", a British film following a similar storyline as "Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" whose Rhedosaurus analogue is clearly inspired by popular images of the Loch Ness Monster. The stop motion effects in that one were done by Willis O'Brien of "King Kong" fame.

i grew up w journey to the beginning of time and its soo under appreciated in the film world outside of Czechia, the movie is seriously so nostalgic to me and i feel like it is for every czech kid out there, its a serious masterpiece
On Godzilla he actually was or still is a dinosaur? Just severly mutated. He was called a Godzillasaurus (original ik lol) and was HUGE for a regular theropod, if im not mistaken his regular dinosaur form was already as big as a 5 story building and then being basked in radiation made him even bigger (apparently his species has a incredible genome set which allows the radiation to become a power source for him) and although now he's considered "a prehistoric entity" in the main films , my headcannon will always be that he's a dinosaur who's species was able to absorb the radioactive energy of prehistoric earth

as a certified Godzilla Fan I'm very happy to see the movies (and adjacent stuff) on there. And Godzilla and the guys actually belong there, sincesometimes the giant Kaiju are ancient creatures in-lore. Like Godzilla being a mutated Godzillasaurus or Barugon from the Gamera Movies
That and Godzilla's design being an amalgamation of different dinosaur species.

Fun fact- For the longest time, the one of my favorite zoos down in Florida had one of Baby's static stand ins on it's nature walk for the longest time. It was taken out eventually to make room for a Sumatran Tiger exhibit before it had to be changed again to a Florida Black Bear rehab and exhibit because the tigers had gotten even further into the wrong side of endangered and the zoo was passed over for participation in that program.
Journey to the Beginning of Time is seriously underrated. According to Steven Speilberg, that movie was of very high quality for its time. Also, if I remember correctly, that film is the most successful Czech film of all time.
It was a very successful film. But the most successful Czech film of all time was 1958’s Invention for Destruction. Which was directed by the same director as Journey to the Beginning of Time
@@Duncaster Karel Zeman, my favourite film of his is the Baron Münchhausen film he made which was clearly a huge influence on a young Terry Gilliam. Not just on Gilliam's own Münchhausen film but also all the whimsical animations that he did for Monty Python.

A Journey To the Beginning of Time is a really interesting film and a cool experience. It's a very slow, relaxed sort of film that slowly becomes more existential the further the children go back. Wandering around a world where the only living things are plants is actually a pretty harrowing. I've always vastly preferred films similar to that (viewing Dinosaurs/Pre-Historic creatures in their natural habitat and time) over the constant resurrection/discovery of Dinosaurs in the modern day.

What sucks is that most people see dinosaurs as monsters rather than animals
That’s what I like about the film dinotopia. In it the people live in peace with dinosaurs and carry meat to give to carnivores saying that they’re only hungry so giving them meat won’t have them rely on attacking them for food.
The Rex in Dinosaur Island is very clearly the same animatronic used in Carnosaur. Roger Corman produced both and he knew how to stretch a dollar.
Roger Corman also recycled the spaceship exterior footage from "Battle Beyond the Stars" for several other science-fiction films, most famously an "Alien" ripoff titled either "Forbidden World" or "Mutant" depending on which edition you watch. Which also re-uses the interior sets from "Galaxy of Terror", a rather demented film that can best be described as "Forbidden Planet" meets "Alien" on several hits of blotter acid.
Lost in Dinosaur World was filmed at Marine World, an amusement park in Vallejo, California, and is partially a promotion for the installation of the animatronic dinosaur attraction in 1993.

It's weird how different posters and DVD covers of My Pet Dinosaur give off completely different tones. There are posters that give it a more serious and emotional E.T. vibe with the tagline "Making friends is easy, keeping them is impossible," while a certain DVD cover makes it looks like a lighthearted Disney Channel sitcom with a CGI dinosaur with the tagline "Not your average pet" being drawn on a locker.

We had a VHS tape of "Journey to the Beginning of Time" as kids and watched the dinosaur part of it on repeat. Its still one of my dad's favorite Dinomedia movies
I'm honestly more surprised by the fact that I watch almost 80% of those movies before even knowing that someone else in the world also know their existence.
Watching this reminded me of a series I watched as a kid called Dinosapien, I’d love to hear your thoughts on that series! It was certainly something XD
