AITA For Refusing To Raise My Husband's Children From His Affair Now That He And The Woman He Cheated With Have Passed Away?
    --------
The story revolves around a 45-year-old woman who discovers that her husband of 23 years had been having an affair with a much younger woman, which resulted in the birth of twin boys. The affair came to light in March, leading to the initiation of divorce proceedings. However, before the divorce was finalized, both her husband and his affair partner were killed in a car accident, leaving the twins orphaned.
With the husband’s will not updated, all his assets, including those intended for the twins, are set to pass to the woman and their two daughters, aged 14 and 16. The woman, while not wanting to leave the twins with nothing, agrees to allocate $25,000 from the shared account for their care. However, no one from either side of the family is willing or able to take the twins in permanently. The husband's parents are in assisted living, the woman’s parents are also unable to care for the children long-term, and other relatives are either unwilling or unable to help.
The woman faces immense pressure from her in-laws, the affair partner’s family, and even her own mother to take in the twins and raise them. However, she feels no emotional connection to them, harbors resentment due to the circumstances of their birth, and is already struggling to raise her own two daughters, who are deeply hurt and angry over the affair and the existence of their half-siblings. She fears that taking in the twins would be detrimental to her own well-being and to her daughters, and that she would inevitably treat them unfairly.
Despite the guilt and pressure, the woman decides that she cannot take on the responsibility of raising the twins. She acknowledges that while it is not the twins’ fault, she does not have the capacity-emotionally or physically-to care for them. She plans to refuse legal guardianship and leave the decision of the twins' future to their maternal grandparents. She also intends to ensure that any inheritance the boys are legally entitled to is handled properly, but she makes it clear that her priority is her daughters, who are already dealing with enough trauma.
Ultimately, the woman decides that her primary responsibility is to her own children, and she chooses not to take on the additional burden of raising the twins from her husband’s affair. She recognizes the moral complexity of the situation but concludes that she is not obligated to do more than what the law requires, especially when it comes at the cost of her daughters’ well-being.

Those DMs to forgive dad and step-monster were probably dad and step--monster using throw away aliases or their close friends and family.

I have a half uncle that is from my grandfather's first marriage. Growing up, he was a name rather than an actual family member. He went to prison a few years after I was born and got out I think last year or the year before. He isn't allowed at my grandparents' home, and he is still just a name even though we do talk about him sometimes. I knew he had gone to prison, I knew he was my mom's half brother but I didn't know what he did until I was 25.

@RedditFamilyTales it kind of did but we still don't talk about it or him often. He calls more now my grandpa has dementia and doesn't remember him as well.

@errorsanz. he did something that TH-cam would prohibit talking about. He was a serial take advantager of women and it started at a fairly young age that he would creep on his youngest sister's friends
